Rugby World Cup

In one of my earlier posts about All Black selections for the World Cup a commenter asked if I would do a post covering the actual teams closer to the cup starting - so here goes.

After giving it some thought I have decided that the easiest way will be to work through the pools and see where that leads.

Pool A Ireland, Japan, Russia, Samoa, Scotland
Ireland should be top qualifiers with Scotland taking the second birth under threat from both Samoa and Japan - who else remembers Japan beating South Africa in 2015.

Pool B Canada, Italy, Namibia, New Zealand, South Africa
Only two contenders here and we will know the order after the All Blacks play the Springboks on Saturday night in a match which I think could well be a fore runner to the final - the two best teams and squads at the tournament for mine.

Pool C Argentina, England, France, Tonga, USA
England should win the pool with the winner of the Argentina v France match being the other qualifier but neither is a certainty and if one of those two upsets England who knows what the pool out come will be.

Pool D Australia, Fiji, Georgia, Uruguay, Wales
The winner of the Australia v Wales game should win the pool with Fiji being the only other likely contenders and they have made the quarters at previous world cups.
