Readers will know of Adolf's fondness for World War II analogies.

Today we see that Whaleoil may be likened to Britain's wartime 'Ultra' which allowed the Allies to read all the internal signals of the Nazi regime.

Whaleoil has posted a gorgeous e-mail from Labour's Master Strategist and Campaign Manager, Field Marshall Trevor Von Mallard in which he exhorts the kameraden to remain staunch in the face of insurmountable adversity. It is addressed to 'The Team' so have no doubt it was not meant to go public.

Adolf was reminded instantly of another cripple from a former generation who desperately tried to encourage his young and gullible supporters when all was lost.

Labour are in campaign mode early this year. Stuff is currently infested with Labour ads and the uneducated followers are polluting the comment sections in the Herald.

I love how Mallard refers to pre-written updates and prepared Twitter comments as "having a conversation".

See Ed Milliband for another Labour example.

Yes indeed.

To continue the analogy, Goebbels believed his own propaganda and indoctrinated his wife who, upon realising the end was nigh, murdered all their children before topping herself.

This was the cream of German society at the time.

Is it possible to Godwin this thread given its starting point - that Mallard is just like Hitler for trying to encourage his team? Anyway the post is written by a guy calling himself Adolf and referring to himself in the third person, so has credibility issues.

“young and gullible supporters”

In the end the Germans had to use boys to fight in Berlin as the Allied bombing campaign was so successful in destroying the German army’s ability to move troops. Millions of fighting age Germans and their equipment were stranded hundreds of miles from the battle for Berlin.

Railway marshalling yards and roadways were destroyed. The German army could not move in time. In response German leadership recruited boys & old men to fight in Berlin.

National has hijacked Labor’s policies curtailing Labor’s ability to fight forcing Labor to look towards the young & gullible.

No Minister does not recognize juvenile 'rules' from varsity debating clubs and accordingly your friend Godwin has no jurisdiction here.

I suggest you run along and tidy your room.

Even the TradeMe site had a craftily worded poll going. It had a similar trend as noted by CB 12.39am.

I can think of a better analogy - that of a certain leader of the National Party whose emails were published in the media. As I recall, right-wing bloggers found the contents of the leaked messages far less important than the outrageous and terrible crime of theft that had obviously occurred, and the equally terrible corruption displayed by our police force when they found there was actually nothing to suggest a theft had occurred.

Odd - those squawking declarations of outrage seem to be notably lacking this time round. Wonder why?

perhaps you should direct your question to Blenglish and the Rollypolly answer to Ruamoko

You're pushing shit uphill Milt.

There's a difference between a genuine leak from one of 'the team' and the wholesale theft of thousands of e-mails.
