Phil Really Can't Take A Trick

GNACTionalMP will be laaaarffing their heads off at this morning's headlines.

Just when the dosey half wits at Labour fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally get around to announcing their taxation non event, Statistics NZ kicks their the sorry arses with the news of a BOOOOOMING upsurge in the economy. Far more than either Treasury or the Reserve Bank forecast.

March quarter GDP up by 0.8%. That's 3.2% annualised.

The poor bastards will be frantically rewriting his great announcement. He was expecting poor growth and he was going to lambast National for it, then spruik his wonderful new tax as the answer to all the country's ills. But bugger it! The country isn't ill after all.

Silly Philly want's to kill that off growth with his Envy Tax and CGT which together will produce almost no revenue. Then he's going to borrow twice as much as Bill English ever did and he'll be borrowing for the next ten years.

What's so funny is that the Gross Domestic Product good news was announced a couple of hours before the Labour Party bad news. Well, it's really old news by now and nobody's really interested or listening, for that matter.

I'm sure I remember lots of squawking about Treasury forecasts (of 4% growth?) used for the budget this year being unachievable etc etc...

Or to put it another way, after years of recession or flatlining under the current govt, the economy may be finally starting to recover despite them...
