Yet another incompetent minister faces the axe

The inappropriately named Corrections Minister has once more got it wrong.
Damien O’Connor now faces the sack after taking a suspended prison officer with him on an overseas parliamentary rugby team tour.
Adding to the suspicion around the trip, the suspended prison officer, Jim Morgan, just happens to be the partner of O’Connor’s senior private secretary.
Now, whether or not Morgan is cleared of any wrong doing over his activities at Rimutaka Prison, the verdict will always now remain questionable.
This latest cock up follows other blunders from our incompetent minister, as noted by the Sunday Star-Times.
The department has been under fire for a series of controversies including the murder of teenager Liam Ashley by another prisoner while being transported, the death of Karl Kuchenbecker at the hands of Graeme Burton who was on parole; higher than expected costs for new prisons and contraband getting into jails.
Indeed, speculation is mounting that Clark is set to axe O’Connor and other incompetents, including Mark Burton in the next ministerial reshuffle.
National leader John Key has branded O’Connor’s decision to let Morgan go on the trip as “unbelievably stupid” and demanded his sacking.
TV3 News says the minister’s departure has been confirmed.
UPDATE: Colin Espiner blogs on the issue here.
