A Nineteenth Century Take On Socialsm

In 1825, one Robert Owen established a socialist enclave of some 800 souls in the American state of Indiana.  After only two years, it collapsed.

Owen's son wrote:-

"All cooperative schemes which provide equal remuneration to the skilled and industrious and the ignorant and idle must work their own downfall. For by this unjust plan they must of necessity eliminate the valuable members and retain only the improvident, unskilled and vicious."

Sounds a bit like the NZ Labour Party.

Yep it's the NZ Labour Government to a tee.

And 3 quarters of the Left-tards who post here who still don't fathom Capitalism.

Ah yeah, no it’s not. Where is the policy that says all are to be paid equally. See that’s what’s known as the straw man fallacy, which people who actually care about reality and facts can easily spot in silly arguments.

"All cooperative schemes which provide "
Don't see a straw man there, it was a closely defined observation from the real world...flake ...dear, 100 level comphrenshion.

Thank you for introducing me this fascinating character. It is worth reading to see how much misinformation is contained in your post.

Lack of personal freedom and decision making along with no property rights had more to do with the schemes demise than "idleness". To be fair his socialistic employment practices put people before profit something that Bernie Sanders is promoting.

Like this descriptive of those attracted to the experiment as comprising 'a heterogeneous collection of Radicals, enthusiastic devotees to principle, and honest latitudinarians, and lazy theorists, with a sprinkling of unprincipled sharpers thrown in.'

Problem being the good uns couldn't agree while the bad uns ripped them orf. Reminds one just a tad of the treaty grievance industry

Yeah Vet, sure funny from a guy who made his living from OPM.

What Haha dont read history, or perhaps dont understand it. Nothing wrong with making a living from Opium in the 18-19th century.

You are applying 21st Century morals to the 18th century.

All that happened is that the British wrested opium distribution from the Chinese.

As you probably do know the British was the preeminent trading empire of the day, its empire covered 40% of the world.... not bad for us Scots.

As a by line, made NZ what it is today... white men ably supported by their white womanfolk.

Now being torn down by the socialism warned about in this article.

Wiggles, who said anything about opium? Too much shit in your horse this week, was there?

OPM = Other People's Money, as The Veteran likes to call it, and I guess the good Lord Ha Ha Ha is taking him to task for taking "The King's shilling" rather than making it on his own in a capitalist market place. Nice little socialist paradise, the NZ Army. And even now he boasts about being on Government boards, once again, benefiting from OPM.

And that Ladies & Gentlemen, is how you shit on anyone who has ever served in the armed forces, including those that never returned.
Do us a favour and stay home on ANZAC day mate.

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how you demonstrate your complete and utter misunderstanding of money.

You see, the Sepulchral Rental forgets ALL money was someone else's until one provided something of value for which one might be paid. Of course, in his case, social welfare payments are the exception. Nothing of value is provided

Septic Renfors/HaHa/No Bacon..whatever, thought you were some you young buck using txting, not some fool of an ex Vietnam vet making a twat of your self.

Anyway you got a history lesson as a bonus, as did some of the readership. That was a gain for you.

But then your twat-o-meter kicked in and you went into negative territory with what seems to now be your ex veteran mates. Well Done.

By the way this is not an acronym.. DORK

LHHH & SR ... getting down, dirty, personal and wrong. Don't worry fellas, water off a ducks back mixed with a certain sadness that some of those from the dark side of politics are reduced to that in the face of the now very real chance that the Coalition of the Losers has now morphed into a Coalition of the Damned.

Desperation begets desperate people.

Forget the message, attack the messenger ... clearly the latest meme from the Beehive/Frazer House.

The true colours of Rossco/Tom.... White cross on a white background.

So it's only "white men ably supported by their white women folk" who made NZ, this from a foreign gentleman who did not know who Barry Crump was but knew every beach in NZ, thanks Google...
