A pleasurable couple of hours.

Finally after more than one false start The Veteran and self last evening had a meet and a wee dram.

Having been colleagues here since 2008 both incidentally joining at the invitation of Adolf, we had a rather eerie feeling we had known each other far better than the eleven years of contributing to 'No Minister'  on its own might account for.

Thankyou Vet for enabling a really different break from the at times humdrum of retirement.

Another small delight  No Minister delivers to me  as a further  pleasure in my retirement.

A conversation that reinforced the salient fact New Zealand is but a "Village"  as although coming from different Islands the near misses we encountered over time before actually meeting were almost beyond belief.
One of those in the early eighties came with daughters each of us were spending money on associated equine interests while residing only a few Kilometers distant in The Wairarapa.

Nice little story, GD.

I've met Gooner and PM. Had lunch with them both one day at Albany, very early in the piece.

In idle moments I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a dinner one day for all authors and spouses, with maybe a good conservative and a good liberal as after dinner speakers, or maybe a debate. I'd have Chris Trotter and Don Brash.

Dream on, Adolf!

GD and I had a beer or two in Hastings not long after I started contributing to NM. The only one I have met.

I did have a beer in London with DPF and a few other like minded people in London sometime in 2010 - in a NZ bar just off The Strand and about 12 to 15 attendees as I recall.
