A NEW CHALLENGE TO THE 'NICE' MR CORBYN

So far Corbyn's failure to adequately address the anti-Semitism rife within the Party since he assumed the leadership has caused nine MPs and three peers to defect from Labour, seen the Equality and Human Rights Commission launch its own independent investigation as to whether Labour 'unlawfully discriminated against or victimised people because they were Jewish' and the BBC Panorama documentary which alleged Jennie Formby, Labour's General Secretary and Seumas Milne, Corbyn's communications chief, interfered with their disciplinary process dealing with complaints of anti-Semitism ... an allegation that Tom Watson, Labour's Deputy Leader, described as 'chilling' ... and now the latest bombshell.

More than 60 Labour peers, one-third of Labour's members in the Lords, have just placed an advert in the Guardian.   It said that Corbyn had  failed to accept responsibility for 'allowing anti-Semitism to grow in our party' and went on to say 'The Labour Party welcomes everyone irrespective of race, creed, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Except, it seems, Jews' and further 'This is your legacy Mr Corbyn ... Labour is no longer a safe place for all members and supporters.'

The BBC's Political Editor has opined that the anti-Semitism crisis in the Labour Party has now become a Jeremy Corbyn crisis ... couldn't happen to a nicer man.

Could this lead to UK Labour's Jacinda moment? An unpopular, unelectable, grim faced, obnoxious union bully finally gets replaced by a fresh-faced puppet and sweeps to power on a manifesto of hugz and feelz?

Who are the potential UK Labour Jacindas?

Johno ... my pick would be Dan Jarvis, MP for Barnsley Central and Mayor of Sheffield. I have met him ... one of the good guys.

Still waiting for any examples of this alleged anti-semitism, still none forthcoming...

Kimbo said...

And I’m still waiting for examples from The Veteran of how one can avoid being an anti-Semite, while also being pro-Palestinian and critical of the Netanyahu government’s policies.

But in the meantime at least we are still getting a steady stream of anti-Corbyn talking points from the unpaid New Zealand-resident Likud press officer. 😳

PM,
So you decided not to look at the Panorama documentary. Or did you look at it, and decide "nothing to see here". If that is the case then I guess you would never see any antisemitism anywhere unless it was the neo Nazi type. But I would like to think you are not that obtuse.

Kimbo said...

@ Wayne Mapp

Not presuming to speak for Milt, but he did address that issue in a recent post - The Veteran has a bit of an obsession with this topic at present.

And to give some perspective, Murray McCully was also accused of anti-Semitism when he played a key part in our co-sponsoring of UNSC2334, so maybe don’t panic yet. After all, like reports of the SAS killing unarmed Afghan villagers, you may be being played by media-manipulating schills. 😳😂

Wayne Mapp: the thread Kimbo refers to is here: https://nominister.blogspot.com/2019/07/anti-semitism-in-uk-labour-party.html.

I did watch the video linked from that post, and it was clear the anti-Corbyn faction of the Labour Party is equating support for the Palestinians with anti-semitism as a propaganda tool for undermining Corbyn. I've yet to see any claim of anti-semitism in UK Labour that doesn't fall into that category.

As for the House of drunk-as-a-Lords, I'm astonished that only a third of the Labour ones are in the anti-Corbyn faction. If I'd had to guess I'd have guessed an overwhelming majority were, 70 - 80% maybe. So this is quite good news in a way.

The man the Tories are running scared from is Sir Keir Starmer QC.....he was Director of Public prosecutions and head of Crown prosecution service before he went into politics.

He is being positioned for the crown and he is one of the reasons Corbyn is being hounded and sniped at from the shadows.

There are many in the party who believe Corbyn is not a winner so he has to go by any means fair or foul.

@Chunter..........a media manipulating shill is someone else's investigative journalist unless you are from the hard right when they are fake news MSM......what a confusing old world we have designed around ourselves.

Wayne Mapp said...

PM,

All I can say is that you are obviously a committed Corbynista. Thus he and the party apparently can do no wrong. The tactic is to just ignore or explain away any difficult information about the amount of antisemitism in the British Labour Party.

Psycho Milt said...

I'm no committed Corbynista - his approach to Brexit has been terrible and has probably cost Labour a significant amount of support at a time when it should have been hammering the discredited May government in the polls. I'm just not a sucker for right-wing propaganda campaigns is all.

Psycho Milt said...

And still no-one's offered up any examples of this alleged anti-semitism. Is there any, beyond "support for the Palestinians = anti-semitism to people on the right?"

The Veteran said...

Egbut ... I agree Starmer has to be in the running but I'll stick with Jarvis for a whole variety of reasons.

Corbynistas of the world unite for you have nothing to lose but your integrity.

Lord Egbut Nobacon said...

Veteran....you are playing into the hands of the rebels. A sustained campaign of disinformation on many points not just anti semitism is undermining Corbyn. This camapign is not anti Corbyn so much as anti momentum.

Having said that Corbyn has more political integrity built up over 30 years in his little finger than the chancers like Johnson and Hunt have in their entire plitical career.

Kimbo said...

@ The Veteran

...you have nothing to lose but your integrity.

...says the guy who still won’t tell us, despite repeated requests, what examples of avoiding anti-Semitism yet criticising Israel’s expansionism and being pro-Palestinianism looks like.

So, Occam’s Razor: from your silence you’ve pretty much confirmed the distorted values of Corbyn’s critics...and why they are criticising him in the manner, and to the lengths they are.

So nothing different in the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Every apologist is a liar, demonising their enemies, excusing their own faults, and rejecting the middle ground of compromise and honest dialogue.

The Veteran said...

Heh Egbut/Kimbo ... not me, this is the Labour Party talking although I accept the Lords is an anathema to the likes of Corbyn and Milt. But I have to say that Corbyn and integrity has about as much in common as Trump and good government.

Kimbo ... I came into this world after the holocaust and wuz only two the UN voted in favour of the establishment of the Jewish state but history records the day after the vote Israel was attacked by nine separate militias/armies which the Jews defeated ... I guess the meme 'never again' figured somewhere in that. Yes, there have been atrocities on all sides but I'm happy to stand with Israel against those who deny the right of the Jewish state to exist.

But actually this has nothing to do with the matter at hand which is all about the persecution of Jews within the Labour Party because they dare to be J e w i s h.

Kimbo said...

Impressive,Vet. Lots and lots of words and attempted goal post shifting...and yet you still avoid the question. Want me to repeat it? 😳

The Veteran said...

Kimbo ... you're changing the goal posts. This is Labour saying its not safe to be a Jew and a Labour Party supporter.

Kimbo said...

And I’d wager, Vet, if I put the same question to those who allege they are subject to anti-Semitism in the British Labour Party, and nothing of substance has been done about it

...that like you, there is a very good chance they would look to avoid giving specific examples of how one can avoid anti-Semitism while also being critical of Netanyahu’s policies, and pro-Palestinian.

Which means that there is a question mark about their credibility in the matter. Or is joining those dots anti-Semitic too, and it’s only Corbyn and those who are pro-Palestinian who get to have their credibility questioned in this matter? Of course, I forgot, you’re happy to stand against those (straw man alert!) “who deny the right of the Jewish state to exist”.

Veteran.....the Panorama program was contentious but as you see to place some faith in their productions you might like to see next Thursdays....a teaser.

A top EU official has accused the UK’s Brexit negotiators of “running around like idiots”, comparing UK ministers to the hapless characters from classic TV sitcom Dad’s Army.

Frans Timmermans, the European Commission’s vice president, said leaders in Brussels believed British ministers would produce “Harry Potter-like” trickery when they began negotiations in 2017.

Instead they acted like Lance Corporal Jones from the classic sitcom, Mr Timmermans told BBC’s Panorama programme, set for broadcast on Thursday night.

“We thought they are so brilliant that in some vault somewhere in Westminster there will be a Harry Potter-like book with all the tricks and all the things in it to do,” he said. “Then the first time I saw public utterances by David Davis ... I thought: ‘Oh my God they haven’t got a plan’.

“That was really shocking frankly because the damage if you don't have a plan … it’s like Lance Corporal Jones you know, ‘Don’t panic, don’t panic’, running around like idiots.”

By failing to plan you are planning to fail....Ben Franklin (supposedly)

Psycho Milt said...

...this is the Labour Party talking...

This is some members of a faction of the Labour Party talking about their enemies. It's not "the Labour Party" talking.

And still no examples of anti-semitism have been provided. The only one that's even come close is the bloke in the Panorama video who was asked by some attendee at a meeting if we was an Israeli. If that's the worst they could come up with, the party's run by saints.

The Veteran said...

Egbut ... I saw the program and agree entirely with it. The start point was David Cameron, then PM and ardent Remainer, refusing to authorise any contingency planning in the expectation the vote would be a resounding No ... and it was all downhill from there.

Milt ... then we await the results of the EHRC Inquiry with interest. They are at least independent unless of course they find that Labour acted illegally in which case I'm sure that one of the Corbyn cabal will ferret out a Jew in the Commission and argue that he/she subverted in inquiry process.

Kimbo said...

@ The Veteran

...just as in the event the inquiry clears them if anti-Semitism you will likely cry “conspiracy/cover-up!”’,and you’ll continue to post excessively on the matter.

The Veteran said...

Kimbo ... I'll continue to post 'excessively' as much as I want too because simply the UK Labour Party deserves better than Corbyn who, IMHO, is not too far removed from the average Trotskyite. He is to Labour what Marama Davidson and/or Golly Gosh is to the Greens.

Psycho Milt said...

Milt ... then we await the results of the EHRC Inquiry with interest.

The thing is, you haven't waited. Your posts have promoted allegations by Corbyn's enemies and ignored the complete lack of evidence supporting the allegations.

Kimbo said...

@ The Veteran

Indeed I have little doubt you will continue to post on the topic. As is your prerogative, just as it is mine to comment. But the fact you mention his alleged near-Trotskyite position to be significant suggests your posts thus far have been a pretence. Just as one suspects that it is his criticism of Israel and support for the Palestinians that is also the real motivation for allegations of anti-Semitism. Because in the first instance they shouldn’t be considered anti-Semitic...and your refusal to face up to that possibility, much less clarity what examples would look like speaks volumes about your lack of integrity in the matter, IMHO.

But as you were, Corbyn, Golriz, Davidson...Got any more anti-Semitic bogey men, identifiable by the fact they have the temerity to agitate for a Palestinian state and criticise Israeli criminal action settling conquered territory? Murray McCully? 😳😂

Kimbo said...

@ Milt

Yeah, but hardly surprising. As per the last thread, Vet’s supportive of the idea of automatic suspension for anyone in British Labour merely accused of anti-Semitism. But hey, it’s about supporting Israel no matter what so bugger the principles of natural justice and being able to face your accusers in an open system of justice.

“Anti-Semitism!”? Guilty, case closed...
