Israel Folau

Following on from GD's earlier piece, I see Australian newspapers are having a field day over what is falsely characterized by the media as an 'anti homosexual rant' by Rugby Australia's best player, Israel Folau.

Mr Folau quoted various books of the Bible in asserting that drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolators will finish up in Hell unless they repent and turn away from their naughty doings.   Those charming sinless denizens of the media blew this up into an 'anti-homosexual rant.'  Bob Jones deals with this in his usual impeccable way.

As a result, the loosingest rugby side in the world is attempting to rid itself of it's best player.  Could it be because the CEO of Rugby Australia's major sponsor is a poofter?

I wonder if a careful search or SBW's twitter and facebook accounts might find any similar references to contentious passages from the Koran?

This is what he actually quoted though I don't know what translation he used

One is left wondering whether the CEO of Australian Rigby was a trojan horse planted by the New Zealand Rugby Union.

Maybe he should have had a look at his contract first, or the warning he got for doing the same thing last year. If you're in the entertainment biz, the wording in your contract is something you should have paid some attention to - more attention than you do to loads of old cobblers in religious texts, in fact.

The answer to that question is of course available to any of us with access to Google, but the fact that examples of Williams quoting contentious passages from the Qor'an aren't all over Whaleoil suggests they aren't there to be found.

I disagree Jesus was gay, but he was undoubtedly Jewish: he lived at home until he was 30, he went into the family business, he thought his mother was a virgin and his mother thought he was God. ✡️😀

It’s always intriguing to see those who in some way claim or imply to be in some way defending Christianity/Christian values/the Judaeo-Christian heritage, that they are so mean-spirited to encourage a media expose of otherwise likely innocuous, mundane, even banal activities such...as SBW’s twitter account

Yeah, but be fair. As one can only faithfully record and read the Koran in the original Arabic, it’s gonna take a bit of time for Cam Slater and his intrepid Mrs, much less poor Adolf, to translate before they can come up with the dirt for an expose on SBW’s posts. Hence it’s probably easier for Whale Oil (in receivership) to recycle and run the nonsense “terrorist hand gesture” thing again.

So, Adolf, as Folau seems not the sharpest knife in the draw, such that he was presumably given that advice from the Professional Players’ Union, does this mean it a great and glorious advertisement for the merits of...trade unions?

Err no. It is a great and glorious display of indept management. BTW, I have always maintained that trade unions are a positive influence when they stick to advocating for their members - as is the case here. They are trouble when they go off into politics or become gansters, extorting millions in the guise of 'training fees' from employers.

I'm with PM on this (which should be a worry to me but it ain't ... this time at least).
Were SBW be caught promoting the more contentious writings from the Quran then he should be given the DCM by the NZRFU ... but he hasn't and that's the diff between him and IR.
