Is This True?

It is reported in the US that Whitcouls in NZ have banned the sale of a book by Jordan Peterson but continues to display on it's shelves and sell copies of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf.'

When will all this pathetic corporate virtue signalling end?

When shareholders rightly decide that idiots shouldn’t become CEOs of their company, an event likely to be hastened by the salutary lesson of the fall in value of those who didn’t? Withdrawing or modifying commercial activity due to matters of taste during a period of public mourning is justifiable. But this bow is soooooo long, indeed nonexistent, as to beggars belief.

Oh, yes, and ‘Mein Kampf’ is the most boring piece of shit. The introduction to the copy I checked out when I was in high school rightly cautioned the reader that if they thought they were about to indulge in a piece of lurid political pornography, then be prepared to be disappointed. Much like the supposed manifesto that the POS released last week.

Well in this case the end cannot be that far off as more people greet Mr Book Depository and Ms. Amazon and laugh at the pathetic offerings in Whitcoulls.

I prefer the former because they deliver to NZ for free.

I recall one bookseller years ago in Auckland near where I lived who refused to stock Mark Steyn's America Alone when it was #1 on various US bestseller lists, but always had plenty of Fisk, Chomsky and Pilger material for sale.

He went out of business in 2010, probably not understanding why, or maybe cursing Borders Bookstore.

It appears Whitcoulls is privately owned.

On 17 February 2011, RedGroup Retail (including the Borders, Angus & Robertson as well as Whitcoulls chains) were placed into voluntary administration with Ferrier Hodgson appointed as administrators.[4] On 26 May 2011 it was announced that the company had been sold to Project Mark Ltd,[5] part of the James Pascoe Group owned by the Norman family who have a history of turning around troubled companies such as the Farmers department store.[6]

Clearly you are a bit thick, as well as being an all round Pratt.
No one is denying Whitcoulls the right to make the decision they have made. They just question why, especially when they keep Mein Kampf on the shelf.
I assume the writer of Mein Kampf is one your socialist idols

"It's called free market capitalism, Adolf. Whitcoulls get to decide what they stock, not you.

Why do you right wing authoritarians hate the free market?"

More prattery from you David

We are not telling Whitcoulls what to stock or what not to stock.

We are mocking them for their stupidity as they struggle not to go out of business.

Obviously they do not want our business so we'll just have to buy our books, magazines and periodicals online

Poor, sad, little Jordan Peterson. Not wanted at Cambridge U.

Am I surprised? Not at all.

"Most of the global warming posturing is a masquerade for anti-capitalists to have a go at the Western patriarchy."

That was Peterson last May. No room for women in his world. Just Men all the way down. Must be a faggot, I guess. :-)

Enjoy sneerring at Jordan Peterson Bill?

Here is the BBC's recounting of the events

It includes this gem from a University spokeswoman

"[Cambridge] is an inclusive environment and we expect all our staff and visitors to uphold our principles. There is no place here for anyone who cannot."

My guess is "inclusivness" does not extend to Canadian white males who challenge the prevailing groupthink.

Of course the real problem is that Jordan Peterson is far more intelligent than the people who made this decision and can out debate then showing them up for the shallow minded bigots they really are.

Dear Andrei,

Please explain how "Western patriarchy" fits any real definition of inclusiveness.

If you think Peterson is "more intelligent", perhaps you need to consider the lobster.

Correct. When university academics refer to an "inclusive environment," they mean it can include any views they don't object to. For anyone with views they do object to, it's a highly "rejective environment." So the spokeswoman wasn't being inconsistent, just operating a definition of "inclusive" that isn't the same as a normal person would use. It would help if universities would make that unusual definition of "inclusive" clear when they use the term.
