TRUMP #2

In writing my previous post on Trump being Trump I had seriously considered including a prediction that 'he' would label the reporting of his remarks from the Helsinki press conference 'Fake News'.    I wuz wrong.

It appears the President quickly realised the veritable shit storm his comments had created both at home and abroad and now sez 'he misspoke'.

That when he said "My people came to me ... they said we think its Russia.  I have President Putin; he said its not Russia.  I will say this ... I don't see any reason why it would be" ... that he should have said "I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia.  Sort of double negative".

He must take 'us' (meaning the world) for fools.

I have been a consistent critic of Trump (and Clinton).   But I have tried to give him some respect as befitting his office.   No more.    The man is an ego driven narcissist idiot who embarrasses his office every day he occupies it.    Problem is the US Constitution does not provide for the impeachment of an idiot ... if it did Millard Fillmore, James Buchanan and Andrew Jackson would all be goneburger ... while the bar in the 25th Amendment providing for the removal of the President as being 'unfit to serve' is a high one indeed.

America is, for better or worse, stuck with Trump for the next 28 months and America and the western world will be all the poorer for it.

Sadly true. I'm sure he was given good briefing notes and equally sure he didn't read them, or he did then he didn't understand. What a pity. The alternatives give me shivers, but I fear that DT has done great damage to the right side of the spectrum. But do remember, he's really a Democrat.

Add if between or and he.

Max - The damage to the GOP was done well before Trump's take over of it. They have been in slow decline since their alliance with the Religious Reich and St Ronald Reagan. It continued through Bush 1 & 2, and was finally completed by the white anting of the Tea Partiers.

Trump is not the one causing the damage, he is the logical conclusion of everything that went before.

The reality is Veteran that Donald Trump wants to rebuild bridges with Russia and the American foreign policy establishment is dead set against that.

The doctrine as articulated by Zbigniew Brzezinski is to prevent the rise of great powers in Eurasia so that the USA can maintain "full spectrum dominance"

But in the real world both Russia and China are rising and can challenge the USA both industrially and militarily

And short of war there is nothing the USA can do to prevent this - though with sanctions and trade wars they can slow it.

All great empires decline and the USA is in decline while the Eurasian powers ascend.

There is much happening as we watch though most of it is not on our radars - one of the threats to the USA is the trade of oil in Renabi rather than dollars, another is the silk road project which can move goods from the Far East to Europe overland which is faster and cheaper than by sea but as yet does not have the capacity to transport the volumes of trade between the two regions

And realistically Russia can deliver gas in large volumes to Europe at a fraction of the price the USA can by Tanker, the fleet to deliver the volumes required does not even exist yet nor do the facilities to process it on delivery

You can moan about Trump all you like but in the real world billions of non Americans aspire to live better, richer lives and their leaders are working to fulfill their aspirations and are not going to sell out their people so to benefit the USA

And Trump probably gets this and will try to make win win deals rather than to try and maintain dominance

David ... Max nailed it. Trump ain't a Republican ... he was a Democrat and now he's a ... Trump ... owing allegiance to the philosophy of Trump. The GOP was silly enough to buy into the lie that was/is Trump. They need to return to their core values ... free market capitalism; free enterprise; a balanced budget; deregulation and the upholding of values based on the Judeo-Christain ethic. Until they do that their outlook is bleak with the only bright spot being that the Democrats still appear to be held in thrall by the corrupt Clinton cabal.

Trump's performance at Helsinki including his two hours one-on-one with Putin with no advisors present bar translators has one wondering just what dirt does Putin have on him. In saying that I note Trump is still refusing to release his tax returns from 2006 on ... something every other modern President did. Begs the question ... are there links to 'Oligarchy' money in his financial dealings? Easily disproved were he to release the documents.

Clearly I've moved from being someone who dislikes Trump to now where I'm now convinced he is a danger to the free world.

"The high professional quality of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin’s performance at their Monday press conference in Helsinki contrasts sharply with the obloquy by which the bipartisan U.S. ruling class showcases its willful incompetence.

Though I voted for Trump, I’ve never been a fan of his and I am not one now. But, having taught diplomacy for many years, I would choose the Trump-Putin press conference as an exemplar of how these things should be done. Both spoke with the frankness and specificity of serious business. This performance rates an A+."

Andrei ... in as much as Trump came across in the press conference as Putin's poodle so it is that 'American Greatness' (the blog from which you quote) is Trump's poodle.

Max Ritchie said...

David (and anyone else interested): the GOP has indeed declined in the period you quote, but it's doing better now than in Ford's time and the Democrats have declined even further since their glory days. According to Pew Independant is way ahead of both of them. Perhaps fmr mayor Bloomberg might be interested. Not sure I'd agree with your damage assessment. But of course while Trump is causing damage, he also attracted a lot of support from ex Dems. And do note that 1. The Supreme Court will reflect the centre right for some time now, and 2. The Republicans may still control Congress after the midterms. May, not will!

David said...

David ... Max nailed it. Trump ain't a Republican

The no True Scotsman fallacy.

Trump was their candidate, he is now their President, he is, a Republican.

They need to return to their core values ... free market capitalism; free enterprise; a balanced budget; deregulation and the upholding of values based on the Judeo-Christain ethic.

"free market capitalism" does not exist, the Republicans always run up the deficit faster than Dems, and just what are Judeo-Christain ethics?

Clearly I've moved from being someone who dislikes Trump to now where I'm now convinced he is a danger to the free world.

Welcome to the club, but as long as The Rethuglicans control Congress nothing will be done as he delivers all their wet dreams - a war on the poor, slashing social welfare programs, beating up dark skinned people, replacing science in schools with bullshit, feeding the insatiable maw of the war machine, and ensuring women are kept to their role as cock sockets.

If you people knew your history you would know that the Republican Party was originally the progressive party and the Democrats the Conservatives

T'was FDR that began the flip, while Nixon was still taking a "progressive" stance in the 70s.

But while you people are melting down over Trump you fail to grasp that over 190,000,000 Russians and over a Billion Chinese don't give a damn and whatever you think your values are they are not as a rule shared by these people.

And the "free world" aint as free as you think Veteran - hell they are about to ban the humble plastic drinking straw

David said...

Hey Putin Bot - got anything of relevance, or are you just echoing Blubber Boy, bemoaning your loss of freedum because you will no longer be allowed to suck like the baby you are?

David you are a disgusting necrotic paedophile piece of shit. I have never seen you write anything positive. First against the wall you vile disease.

Actually Paul it would not not only be on the Sub Continent of India and S.E, Asia but I also suspect the majority of the citizwns of Boise, Idaho; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Topeka, Kansas; Joplin Missouri etc are not loosing too much sleep over these matters either.

But according to David, these people are the "deplorables" though when I have encountered them they have come across to me as more like the "salt of the Earth" types rather than David's depiction og them

David said...

@PAUL SCOTT- Your post is called projection. And I'm pretty sure the only thing "positive" about you is your HIV status.

BTW - still waiting for that police visit you promised. I guess the Pattaya Police told you the stuff you pulled out of your arse isn't evidence.

Read Tim Blair's column on his travels in 'Trumpland.' He couldn't find anybody the slightest bit interested in the president's doings or non-doings. They were all just getting on with their new jobs and larger pay packets. Funny that.

The only people who are upset are the leftists (who used to love the Soviet Union), the Trump hating media ('cause they couldn't destroy him), the neo-cons (who think the Cold War is still on) and the Never Trumpers (haughty beltway conservative snobs who've done nothing but talk).

Normal people in the USA (the ones who make the country function) don't see the Russians as an "enemy".

Andrei'
Did you hear that the Russians rigged the USA election.
That Kruschev he is one bad bastard.
He's sorry he rigged the election by telling us how the Democrats rigged the previous election.
Do you think the Russians will allow Veteran out of Saigon Andrei?
It's getting bad in here, I think we are right in the rear guard Andrei.
Some piece of scum with necrotic brain cancer is shooting in the air before he dies.
No normal column would allow him in
I think we are better out of here, Andrei, I'll meet you on the high road.
We have good things to do. God bless you.

"For more than a generation, conventional wisdom has portrayed Republicans as the sole defenders of the American flag, the great stewards of patriotism, the gun-toting, tough-talking party of law and order. This myth has been pushed relentlessly on talk radio, on Fox News, and through every facet of rightwing media. It has long been presented as fact by the traditional media, putting Democrats on the defensive as they have struggled to shake ingrained perceptions that they are meek and unpatriotic.
Trump beholden to Putin? Summit does nothing to dispel impression

The pervasive narrative of “strong” Republicans and “weak” Democrats helped place George W Bush in office. It painted John Kerry, a decorated veteran, as a coward. It is a narrative that has had an iron grip on political discourse since the Vietnam war. In the words of a Bush administration official, for Democrats “it’s never stopped being 1968”.

ROFL, Adolt has now resorted to claiming no one in Merka cares what Trump says or does coz they’re too busy trying to feed their families. He’s never been so desperate. He’s starting to sound like Saddam Hussein’s communications head.

David & Paul ... your personal attacks on each other add nothing to the debate.

But muuuuum, he started it.

You are right, and I will no longer respond to anything that Scott/Lolitas Brother writes. I have sent him to Coventry. He is dead to me.
