For and Against

The Veteran has run his flag up the mast as an anti-trumper.  Good for him.  What you see is what you get and that's fine.  Adolf makes no secret of the fact he is a pro-trumper.  Likewise, what you see is what you get.

I think Veteran is wrong and I'm sure he thinks I'm wrong.  Some call it agreeing to disagree.

It appears most of Veteran's stance is due to some of the things President Trump says, how he says them, when he says them and where.   No doubt in this particular regard this president is unpresidential in any traditional sense.  (But in many ways, so was Harry Truman.)  The last straw for Veteran was president Trump's off the cuff remarks in Helsinki with Vladimir Putin at the podium.  I did not see them but when Newt Gingrich says they were a mistake and a gaffe then I'll take his word for it.

It has always been my preference to judge people by their actions rather than their words and that is why I am a fan of this president and completely despise his predecessor.

From the start it must be recognised not one of The Veteran's alternative Republican 'presidential' candidates stood a show in hell of winning the 2016 election.  He or she would have been destroyed by the combined weight of Hillary Clinton's illicit $billions, the Obama administration's spying and espionage complex, millions of fraudulent votes from California. the Democrat/ Media propaganda conspirators - rigged TV debates included.

Secondly, it seems to me almost any other Democrat candidate would have won against Trump.

In a nutshell, Trump was the only Republican who could win and Clinton was the only Democrat who could lose.

The world dodged the Clinton/Obama bullet when Donald Trump was elected.  Whatever this president's faults may be, they pale into insignificance compared with those of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Obama was big on mellifluous vacauosity and short on action.  Among other things, he and Hillary prematurely withdrew troops from Iraq, effectively creating ISIS.  They wrecked Libya and turned it over to ISIS.  They screwed up Syria and turned it over to Russia.  They effectively created the migrant crisis which has overwhelmed Europe.  Then they refinanced Iran and gave it the green light to go nuclear.  Some legacy!!  Did otherwise sane people want four or eight more years of that?

On the home front they presided over a stagnant economy, strangled by over-regulation.  I still laugh at the brainless Nobel winning economists who declared solemnly 'it is not possible for GDP to exceed 2.0% annually.' Obama is the only American president in history to have presided over eight years in which annual GDP growth did not for even one year exceed 3%.

If one wants to look at the significant achievements of the Trump administration one can go no further than yesterday's retort from S o S Mike Pompeo to a hapless Democrat senator- 'You'll need to back a truck up and we'll load them on.'

The US economy is roaring - tipped by some to be heading for 5% GDP this year; unemployment is at record lows; black employment is at record highs; large income tax reductions are in place; military spending is boosted; the Democrat/ Media conspiracy is exposed; the flood of illegal immigrants has declined to a trickle; the real friends of the US, shunned by Obama, are remade welcome and the enemies of the USA are reminded they are indeed enemies.

Just as the 'trade war hysteria' from the left reached fever pitch last week, a sort of free trade agreement with the EU was announced.  Along with a mutual goal of zero tariffs (excluding motor vehicles), an interesting aspect includes increased sales of soybeans and gas to the EU. (Wasn't it just last week that the Media and all lefties were demonizing the President for insulting the leaders of the EU?  Wasn't it just last month they were denouncing Trump for the loss of soybean exports to China?)  And so much for the Russian collusion hoax.  Trump just undercut Putin's European gas strategy.  Wait til all those oil and gas fields closed off by Obama start producing.  Trump is going to drown Putin in American oil.

Best of all, when Legbut cooks his 'oeufs et bacon du matin' he can kneel and thrice thank President Trump.  Once for the genetically modified soybeans used to feed the hens producing his eggs, second for the same soybeans used to feed the pigs he eats and third, for the low cost American gas he uses to cook his dejeuner.  Quelle domage!

I prefer a doer who is verbally clumsy from time to time rather than some smooth talker who smooches around the world, studiously avoiding any issue which might ruffle a few feathers, while sucking up to his country's enemies.

Ruffle ruffle, I say.

Just words until they are ratified on paper Adolf........Gas on ships in large amounts is non starter........ sounds good though. The EU will definitely not accept meat products from the USA due to low health and welfare standards.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-wants-europe-to-buy-u-s-gasbut-russia-is-in-his-way-1532619275

Egbut was wrong on one point, the EU ratified the import of GM crops in 2015.

You might have noticed I referred to 'a kind of a free trade agreement.'

"Gas on ships in large amounts is non starter."

Have you ever heard of the Australian North West Shelf gas fields which have been exporting large volumes of LNG for nearly thirty years?

Like your poster boy you just love censorship and closing down those who disagree.
...............

What a simple trusting soul you are Adolf, a very commendable trait in some people but not recommended for voters.

Lets look at what he has actually achieved apart from betraying the Kurds and Syrian rebels by handing Syria to the Russians...https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/white-helmets-syria-civil-war-rebels-army-assad-trump-putin-a8465066.html

Nth Korea.....a nice one on one chat, lots of photo ops for his fan base and that's it. No paperwork and nothing so mundane as written agreements or verifiable checks. Nothing has changed, Fatboy is still breaking the oil sanctions and still polishing his 1970 nukes. No change there then.

NATO........Nice chat, a bit of a rant for his fan base and a speech telling us he has fixed it. er no, the agreement on financing was made a couple of years ago and behind closed doors Trump was told that the German contribution of 1.4%, which he kept raising, was equal to 2% because of German thoroughness and efficiency and the fact they are operating on there own turf. On the other hand, as many on this blog will attest, the US Military is extremely wasteful and careless with resources. What is not quantifiable is the NATO resources in Germany that the US use for non NATO business but still comes under the US NATO budget....... https://www.nato.int/cps/ie/natohq/topics_67655.htm What's changed since Trumps visit.........nothing.

EU trade.......Juncker is a seasoned diplomat not a politician and smooched Trump into a climb down and once again we had another speech on the rosy future. Trade agreements take years to iron out and do not happen in a matter of weeks by the time his term is up it will all revert to normal. The United States investment in the European Union is three times greater than US investment in the entire continent of Asia and EU investment in the United States is eight times that of European Union investment in India and China combined. Intra-company transfers are estimated to constitute a third of all transatlantic trade. The United States and European Union are the largest trading partners of most other countries in the world and account for a third of world trade flows. Given the already low tariff barriers (under 3%), to make the deal a success the aim is to remove non-tariff barriers. The Tangerine Tyrant is always taking credit for stuff he had nothing to do with.

Did you not read the link Adolf? Selling gas by transatlantic ship is not economically viable when the competition has a pipeline. The "trade deal" is has no substance, it's just a speech like all his others. In his own mind once he has made a speech its all fixed.

Well for Germany who has been prepared to dismantle its nuclear and coal industries at the behest of nut case Greens, and move to a very high cost "alternative energy" then perhaps Trumps suggestion makes economic sense ?

I guess is saying security of supply has advantages, sure beats bending the knee to the East!

Great article Adolf. So much shit posted on Trump its refreshing to have a more balanced view.

Of course so many commentators just don't understand the cut through a businessman brings.

You hit the nail on the head Adolf. 4.1% GDP in the U.S this morning, all the looney left has is insults and corrupt behaviour.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

You need to get out more. Gas by ship is extremely viable when it brings the added benefit of mitigating the very real risk of Russian blackmail.

Chuckle chuckle chuckle

From The NYT

"the strong export number was “driven in part by a surge in soybean shipments tied to President Trump’s trade policies.”"

Yes Trumps trade policy is paying dividends, the Chinese have had it too good and so have the Europeans, the former with internal barriers to entry and the Europeans with one of the most restrictive agricultural trade barriers in the world.

With threats backed by action he is bringing them to heal. Just like the Japanese were forced to build factories in America be is giving "real" heartland America hope.

As opposed to the people like Egbut who no doubt swarm over the beltway in America with their superior education, snout in the trough and not much else.

What a steaming load of crap. Why do you choose to repeat the lies of Trump (I lost the popular vote through voter fraud, Obama spied on me, I’m the toughest on Russia, I’ve negotiated peace with North Korea, I didn’t have sex with those porn stars and pay them off a month before the election etc), and reject actual facts? I guess it’s because reality is not on your side. The orgasm over a single quarter’s annualised growth is particularly gratuitous in that it shows you have nothing else to claim as a win. What are you going to do next quarter when the number is less in line with your slavish devotion? Get real.

You appear to have much personal experience with steaming crap. However you bring no facts to bear. You'd make a wonderful Democrat.

Iconograph said...

Trump’s a coward, a liar and a corrupt conman. That’s a fact. He’s also almost certainly semi-literate and suffering early stage dementia. Interesting who you choose to idolise.

Alan Hancox said...

Iconograph, as Adolf said you are oozing steaming crap. Trump with an IQ of 158, would leave you and other leftists for dead. Like he did when others tried to debate him. You bring nothing to the table and are bereft of ideas.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Iconograph

I retract my earlier inaccurate comment.

You would make a good Democrat journalist. Unable to distinguish between your own demented opinion and fact.

(As well as being fullashit)

Gosh the libtards go apeshit over Trump, lose all form of reasoning and perspective, foam at the mouth, scream and yell, thunder against the world and the little people who had the absolute gall to vote for a guy who has done everything he said he would.

I guess Iconograph is head of the committee to award sainthood to Jacinda, and believes in the Hollywood fairytale of open borders, and blended populations free trade with China, and that the West Coast liberals have Americas best interests at heart.

Ross McKitterick

Iconograph said...

ROFL, IQ of 158! Trump told you that and you believed it. The man can’t read FFS, and doesn’t know the difference between would and wouldn’t. But yeah he’s a very stable genius. As for not being able to tell the difference between fact and fiction, that’s how you define a Trump supporter.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

But he DOES know how many states comprise the US and what language is spoken in Austria.

What else have you got?

Iconograph said...

I seriously doubt that. Do you have proof? He would know the capital of Russia, that’s about it. What else have you got?

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

What else have I got? More brains than you, obviously. You must be a six year old dwarf to have missed the subtlety of my last comment. Went right over your head.

Iconograph said...

You comment wasn't at all subtle. You were repeating a common far right bromide regarding Obama. Colour me bored. Funny thing is though, Trump would not know that Austrians speak German.

Anonymous said...

Egg, you maybe right, and you are obviously a details man, but being a Trump kinda guy I like the big picture stuff, and so does Trump, and that's why hes such a breath of fresh air.
I don't go by IQ, he maybe "simple" as you define it but he's "balls out" as the American s define it, and that's why you lefties are all at sea!
Of course his effects may linger, I hope they do...he wont get everything right, but who doesn't, even Churchill was a complete moron more times than people know.
Unstable, perhaps, but you see that's good too, his enemies from Iran to North Korea to the beltway in Washington just don't know wheres he going next.
After all Obama was a complete twat, but the Bushs I think had the IQ issues.
I love wearing my "Make America Great again cap" to Scorchorama café here in Wellington.... gieben to me a Wellington "insider" who will remain nameless!!!
Egg on issues of stability and IQ love your thoughts on the COL as in my view the whole bunch of them are below average IQ... hope youre not :)

Shit, Ross, no one knows what Trump’s up to including him (he’s an illiterate and confused old con-man, remember), and you think that’s somehow a good thing? By your logic a gibbon with a dartboard would make a great President. That would be better than Trump, as there would be less corruption and self-dealing but even so. When did you right wing losers get such low standards?

Nick, gosh I haven't read the Herald article but gosh let me think for a moment, the NCEA graduates in NCEA Level 1, Media Studies, have a pro Trump article just to break with a long tradition........

In the meantime ponder this

"In NZ the GDP growth is 2.7%. It was above 3% from Dec 14 to Sep 17 but has been falling"

and this
"NZ now second bottom on OECD business confidence, previously second to top"
