The nearest equivalent to the Auckland Airport Domestic Terminal I can think of is Bauerfield International Airport at Port Vila on a bad day.

The Auckland terminal is poorly laid out, overcrowded and dirty and to any overseas visitor it must seem like they are stepping back into the 1960s.

In high traffic times or when flights are delayed its third world chaos with travelers sprawled everywhere blocking access.   The security check point can and does block up frequently while both Koru lounges (main and regional) don't have the capacity to handle peak time users.   In short, the terminal is a bad joke.

The Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin terminals leave Auckland trailing in their wake.

C'mon Auckland Airport ... get your s**t together.

I know what you mean about the Auckland Domestic Terminal Vet. mrspdm and I were there from about 10am until our flight at 2pm yesterday. Even Napier leaves it for dead and it is not flash.

Well there is a new domestic jet terminal planned to be completed by 2022. It will be added to the end of the International terminal, takes over most the area you walk along if you do the current walk between domestic and international. From what I can make out the current domestic will only be for the regional prop planes.

Good to hear. Will the area to the east of the new 'prop only' airport be reserved for those on horseback? By 2002 there will be no kero available if the Greens have their way.
