Good Morning Mr President, here are the indictments.

The New York Attorney-General has filed a suit against President Donald Trump and his three eldest children alleging "persistently illegal conduct" at the President's personal charity, saying Trump repeatedly misused the nonprofit - to pay off his businesses' creditors, to decorate one of his golf clubs and to stage a multimillion dollar giveaway at his 2016 campaign events.

In the suit, filed on Thursday morning in New York, Attorney-General Barbara Underwood asked a state judge to dissolve the Donald J. Trump Foundation. She asked that its remaining $US1 million ($1.3 million) in assets be distributed to other charities and that Trump be forced to pay at least $US2.8 million in restitution and penalties.

And no, Mr President, you cannot pardon yourself.

You know David the use of the courts and law wnforcement agencies to pursue politcal opponants should worry you - not be something to celebrate

The mixture of state and federal laws are so complex that it is almost inevitable that it will be possible to find some trivial violation that is prosecatable and then there are "process" crimes that is crimes committed in the course of the investigation itself, where informaion given is deemed to be misleading or perjury, it doesn't have to be relevant to the investgation - Martha Stuart went to prison because she gave two contradictory statements months apart to a grand jury that has nothing to do with the original investigation.

Something similar happened to Scooter Libby

If they want to get someone they will and will keep on digging until they find something to prosecute

It's a fucking circus in the land with the highest number of lawyers per capita in the world

Andrei, I agree that "use of the courts and law wnforcement (sic) agencies to pursue politcal (sic) opponants (sic)" is an abomination. It is what I decry about Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, The Philippines, where any hint of opposition is jailed or murdered.

But that is not what is happening in the US. There, the law enforcement agencies are going after criminal activity. That one of the alleged criminals is also POTUS does not make this a political case.

It is truely heart warming to see reasoned debate conducted with good will taking place on this thread.

Now for a complete change of pace I'll betchya you couldn't do this David

Thanks for the educational video, Andrei, but I already knew that Russian women did all the work while the men stood around yelling at them to work harder.

Meanwhile, The Greatest Deal Maker of All Time has had his handed to him.

Now you know why they have beauty contests for Russian road biulders.

Andrei said...

Talking of beauty contests did you hear that the "Miss America pagent" is dropping the evening gown and swim suit section of the contest?

“We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance,” she said.

Instead of a swimsuit contest, contestants will participate in a live interactive session with the judges. “She will highlight her achievements and goals in life and how she will use her talents, passion and ambition to perform the job of Miss America,”

So next Miss America will look more Rachael Maddow or the hosts of "The View" than Wonderwoman

Should make for compelling TV

In a rare display of honesty, Trump lets slip why he has such a crush on Kim:

Trump told Fox on Friday: “He’s the head of a country, he’s the strong head, don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”

Many of us figured that only the level of sycophancy required of North Koreans towards their leader would be enough for Trump, but it's nice he confirmed it.

I guess his minders were doing their usual face-palming and "How the fuck do we get out of this one?" routines when he blurted that out, because he tried to back-pedal it:

He later told a reporter who asked about the remark he had been “kidding”. The reporter didn’t “understand sarcasm”, he said.

Oh yeah, there's someone who really, really doesn't understand sarcasm in that conversation, only it's not the reporter...

Always the story of unintended consequences....... https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trumps-tariffs-are-already-backfiring/2018/06/14/896b6c5a-700d-11e8-afd5-778aca903bbe_story.html?utm_term=.105c576c452d

In a global economy quick fixes never work and in Trumps case will lead to ruin.

I don't know PM - Donald Trump is like someone out of a Philip K. Dick novel

Drives people crazy, so crazy in fact they loose all rationality.

Meanwhile in the "land of the Free"¹ they have locked up Paul Manafort in an effort to pressure him into spilling the beans on the no existant "Russian Collusion" thing

(1) "Land of the Free" really a hoot considering that in that country they incarcerate more of their population precentage wise than any other nation of the planet and they force the poor into "plea deals" often copping to crimes they didn't commit because they don't have the money to defend themselves properly and the penalty they are promised if they don't is so draconian it is not worth the risk of trying to with the inadequate representation they have avaialbale.

It is all beyond farce

Andrei, stop spouting Kremlin propaganda.

The *underlying* crime is his profound complicity in the mass murder of civilians under Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine.

I'm sure you remember Yanukovych, the thug who had is rival Yulia Tymoshenko arrested. I guess that's where Trump learned to yell "Lock her up!".

This is the thug you defend.

Doesn't surprise me in the least as you continually defend that other thug Putin, you know, the mass murdering thief of Russia, but that's OK by you, as he is YOUR mass murdering thief.

PM ... I too was simply gobsmacked by that comment. Talk about trying to undo any kudos due to him IF this leads to the normalisation of relationships between North Korea, South Korea and the United States.

p.s. I'm half way through the book, To Kill the President (by Sam Bourne). Very good read but the 'President' is too close to home.

Adolt, why are you such a tyrant cuddler? Your man-crush on the criminal orangutan is kind of gross, non? A bit like Andrei’s Infatuation with naked horsey-rider. It’s got something do to with a personal weakness and fear probably.
