THE 'CAMP' ... THE VIDEO

Newsroom has released a video shot on the night of the incident at the Labour Party Youth Camp which is now the subject of a police investigation.

You can watch it here    Sheesh, if there was any party destined to turn into a clusterf**k (pun intended) this was the one.

It's really time for 'defenders of the faith' to pull their heads in and stop digging.   The incident was bad enough.   The subsequent cover-up and lies worse.

At the very least Andrew Kirkton, General-Secretary of the Labour Party, who orchestrated all of this should resign but dollars to doughnuts he won't because 'they' won't let him ... he knows too much.

Again I ask where is the Minister of Womens Affairs? No show? Always in the front line criticising others. All a bit close to home and don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Correction: Newsroom has released a video of some yoofs dancing at a party. One of the attendees is now the subject of a Police investigation.

Good propaganda though - always have some grain of truth as a foundation for the towering edifice of bullshit you want to build.

Off doing stuff related to her portfolios, I expect. Do you have some task you need her to perform?

pdm said...

Shelldrake - she is a Green and they and Winston First have been noticeably quiet on this scandal.

Milt , it is her portfolio. Normally has an opinion on everything, just like Winston, except when it might rock the boat.

Psycho Milt said...

What's her portfolio? A guy sexually molesting people at a party? What ministerial duties does she have to perform relating to that?

Julie-Ann Genter's had plenty to say about sexual harrassment and assault in this country, most of which was heartily ridiculed denounced by the right-wing rape-culture apologists now so keen to make propaganda hay out of this instance because it can be vaguely connected to the Labour Party if you pretend hard enough. Fuck all y'all.

PM ... You are getting emotional and it's clouding your otherwise sensible judgement. Pray tell how the officially sanctioned Labour Party Youth Camp at which the PM spoke is only"vaguely" connected to the Labour Party.

Your 'fuck you y'all' comment is indicative of a certain disconnect from reality.

Sheesh ... my understanding is that it is not even your Party

Mikt ... further to the above and your spirited defense of the indefensible and it seems the Prime Minister has now left you hanging high and dry; acknowledged Labour let 'their' kids down and cancelled all further camps pending an independent review of what happened.

Do you feel shanked?

In what sense? Of course she has to protect Labour against the propaganda that National's dirty-politics specialists are churning out. That doesn't make the dirty-politics specialists' propaganda any less offensive.

Pray tell how a guy who decides to put his hand down someone's pants at a party is a Labour Party matter. Did he hold some official position in the party? Because being a volunteer for them comes under the heading of "Big whoop."

...my understanding is that it is not even your Party

It isn't, but I loathe National's dirty politics operations intensely. Especially when the shits involved use sex assault victims for their scams.

Milt ... suggest you read her latest statement.

This has nothing to do with National Milt. Nor with "rape culture"

Certainly not "dirty politics"

It is pure incompetance - the lack of comprehension that young people and alcohol are an explosive mixture and that if you organize an event involving young people boundaries have to be set and that some adult supervision is required

“The Veteran” has an obsession with this matter which is obviously driven by a sincere concern for the victims. Odd that it’s the first time he’s shown such an interest in matters of this type though isn’t it? I’m sure it’s not related to his hatred of the government though. That would be shameful.

Things must be slipping in NZ if that was a "party". It looked more like a bunch of self conscious kids who knew they being videoed. I plead guilty to all of the following whilst a Yoof...dancing on tables, dancing without a shirt and on one famous occasion starkers, raising my glass/bottle towards the camera. Being punched, punching others.....being quite stupid. All this in the 60's.

The spin on this is outrageous and you all are suffering from long term memory loss and should go out and rediscover yourselves. The assaultees now forced into the spotlight and surrounded by family lawyers will probably now say their lives have been ruined.

RIP... Steven Hawkins, one of life's enduring mysteries is how did a brain the size of a planet fit inside such a small head.

Keep the conversation going Snowflake ... keep it going ... please, please.

And stop saying I 'hate' the government. I am opposed to the government but I don't hate it per se. Its entirely legitimate and the result of a bastard electoral system which it is trying to pervert further by way of it's support for WRP's Electoral Integrity Bill (so called).

I am comforted by the fact that what goes round comes round and the electoral pendulum will swing back helped in no little measure by that Bill and the monumental clusterf**k that has occurred over Labour's handling of the sexual misconduct allegations.

The name of the perpetrator will be made known in due course. More fallout perhaps.

Egbut ... your comment re Steven Hawkins endorsed in spades.

Seriously? A "monumental clusterfuck" is houses in Auckland averaging upwards of a million bucks apiece while people with jobs live in cars and the homeless freeze to death in the streets, something that should be seen as the definitive legacy of the Key government. "Guy puts his hands down someone's pants at a party" is dirty-politics trivia, not a "monumental clusterfuck."

Egbut, haven't I seen you before - on the roof of the Bugis Street dunneys, shortly before various shore patrols and little Singapore policemen with big Webleys arrived to knock sense into all and sundry?

PM .... now you're getting REALLY emotional .... 'people with jobs living in cars' .... funny, they seem to have disappeared from the media in the last little while ... 'people freezing to death in the streets' ... you're gonna have to reference that.

You must be regretting your comment that the sexual assault only occurred at a function only "vaguely" connected with the Labour Party ... that just made you look silly.

What I think is the bigger story is the cover-up. Victim led response ... tosh ... 28 days for any meaningful action to occur and only then when the story was about to break in the media.

Clearly the initial response by Kirkton was to put a lid on in it the hope it stayed on. It didn't and that's why it can rightly be called a clusterf**k which, BTW, was also the descriptive used by a prominent Labour supporter in Whangarei on Tuesday.

Veteran...it's toeing the party line that elevates these kids into victims....they are teenagers that are going through life's learning curve. They are exploring boundaries learning about sexuality and experiencing nothing different than any other teenager since the year dot.

Being turned into "victims" for a political purpose will do more damage than a stray hand will ever do......but we have been here before when a group of young men were told they were at risk of fathering deformed children and a huge cancer risk because it was politically convenient. Some of them believed and and gave up on life.

Gee, a cover-up. That would be a big story, if it had happened. Too bad for the nation's authoritarian conservatives that it didn't.

What I think is the bigger story is the willingness of the nation's authoritarian conservatives, dirty-politics operatives and tabloid journo scum to turn the sexual assault of a teenager into a three-ring propaganda circus, apparently without a shred of self-reflection. Congratulations on providing further examples for teenage girls of why they're better off keeping quiet if they're sexually assaulted.
