What Would Jesus Do?

When new converts to Christianty face a moral or ethical dilemma they are encouraged to ask the question "What Would Jesus Do?"

Now is the time for a new convert to leadership in the Labour Party to ask the same question.

"What Would Helen Do?"

Better still, young Jacinda should be on the phone, seeking advice from God.

Of course, I refer to the Turei debacle which is seriously damaging the Labour Party and taking the media spotlight away from Ardern.

I suggest if Helen Clark were leader today, by now she would have torn up the MOU with an acerbic observation that if Turia had disclosed all her baggage at the time she (Clark) would never have signed it.

Shortly thereafter, I suspect Clark would have issued an encyclical refusing to entertain a coalition with the Greens as long as Turei remained an MP.

You could just about hear the stampede of wet Gnats and damp NZ1sters rushing back to Mother Labour.

If Ardern fails to take a hard and decisive line in this issue she will have missed possibly her only opportunity to catapult  Labour back into respectable territory in the opinion polls and to restore some of the party's reputation which was destroyed by the ineffective leaders and public bickering of the last ten years.

Will she take the risk?   There's not much downside for her but I don't think she will.

Why do I think that?

She doesn't have enough experience in real politics to give her confidence to make hard decisions. All she knows is that Grant Robinson will be looking for his first chance to stab her in the back..

She already hasn't taken "this risk"

Indeed the first test of her leadership came today and she failed a D minus
