Joe Carolan is a Unite Union activist .... his view on Labour is instructive.   In a post on The Daily Blog he wrote "The abysmal polling of Labour at the weekend, barely clearing 26% of the vote (actually Joe it was 23% in the UMR Poll), followed today by the resignation of Andrew Little as leader, shows a party in terminal decline.   The caucus has no discipline, the factions plot against each other, and non entity after non entity gets thrust before the poison chalice of leadership".

Ouch double ouch from one of their own.

One could perhaps liken the situation that Labour is in right now to this oft told tale.

A visitor to Ireland finds himself lost somewhere in the middle of wherever.   Eventually he comes across a farmer.   'Can you tell me how to get to Dooradoyle' the visitor sez.

'Dooradoyle, you say?'    The farmer looks up the road in one direction and down the road in another.  Then he looks across the fields to the hills.   He turns around and looks towards where a stream is disappearing into the distance.   'Well' he sez, 'If I were going to Dooradoyle then I sure wouldn't want to be starting from here, that's for sure.
