That would never happen, would it?

Whaleoil suggests some desperate for shelter are getting temporary accommodation arranged by the Gummint at a motel then asking for a refund in cash and heading on out leaving the motel to find another occupier.

Wern't we told they are desperate for a roof and warmth, hahaha.

If only the bludging pricks could turn their entrepreneurial skills to legitimate and lawful enterprise but if true it is just another demonstration of how easily  welfare funded good intentions can be diverted.
It will be the same when dropkick parents discover they do not need to fund sanitary needs for a daughter now Auntie Paula is gunna step up and free up that money for booze and drugs.

The hand-out mentality and all that goes with it knows no boundaries. I have no difficulty with the government coming to the assistance of those in genuine need but it should always be on the basis of a hand-up rather than a hand-out.

In this case, the hand should be swiftly passing by and colliding with the left ear.

If you put a system in place to alleviate need with a limited budget how much of the budget should be spent on monitoring it?....Lets spend 90% on the program and 10% monitoring a system we know that a few will abuse, or do we spend 10% on the program and 90% on policing..........your call.

Egbut ... clearly in this case it's the latter. Government has a role to play in the provision of emergency housing for the genuine needy and that is right and proper. I guess abuse goes with the territory enhanced by an entitlement culture which includes ripping off the taxpayer if you can get away with it.
