Almost there

It starts here
Proceeds to here

No prizes for guessing what the final link in the chain looks like, now that he has fired the Attorney-General.

Freakiest shit was Homeland Security and border control agencies saying they'll keep following Trump's decree banning entry from various countries even after a federal judge put a stay on it. That's more like Turkey or Russia than the USA. My favourite response so far has been a protester holding up a sign saying

First they came for the Muslims
And we said "Not today, motherfucker"

From the Guardian: Phillip Roth on whether Trump is leading the USA to fascism - he thinks not:

Asked by the New Yorker if Trump’s election was akin to the premise of his 2004 novel The Plot Against America (in which Roth imagined the aviator Charles Lindbergh as a demagogue who defeats Franklin Delano Roosevelt at the 1940 presidential election and then leads his homeland into an alliance with Hitler), Roth demurred. “It is easier to comprehend the election of an imaginary president like Charles Lindbergh than an actual president like Donald Trump. Lindbergh, despite his Nazi sympathies and racist proclivities, was a great aviation hero who had displayed tremendous physical courage and aeronautical genius in crossing the Atlantic in 1927. He had character and he had substance … Trump is just a con artist.”

For Roth, none of the president’s Republican predecessors was as “humanly impoverished” as Trump is, “ignorant of government, of history, of science, of philosophy, of art, incapable of expressing or recognising subtlety or nuance, destitute of all decency, and wielding a vocabulary of 77 words that is better called Jerkish than English”.

I am totally stealing that phrase "wielding a vocabulary of 77 words that is better called Jerkish than English." Burn.

They maybe miss the idea of 100,000 bombs during Islamobama raids .

"...now that he has fired the Attorney-General"

She wasn't the Attorney General, she was the acting Attorney General who was filling the spot until the new Attorney General is sworn in at which point she was gone anyway

She decided in her wisdom to light a fire on her way out with an empty political gesture but no loss the swamp is being drained

Andre is right on the money. Trump was right to fire her for rank insubordination.

You're backing a loser minority here.

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government improves its ability to screen out potential terrorists from coming here. Thirty-three percent (33%) are opposed, while 10% are undecided."

Hope you are in Spain Andrei as it is a nice Balmy -7 in Moscow. Your comment is probably the most ridiculous description of a position I have ever heard. Whether acting AG or acting corporal the responsibilities remain the same. The AG jobs is to advise the President on the legal ramifications of his decisions and by agreeing with him on all his decisions would be failing in his/her duty.

Standing up to the megalomaniac took guts and was hardly an empty political gesture.
See your boss Putin is cranking up the tension in E. Ukraine...this is good as the European public are starting to comprehend the danger of an EU breakdown.

Have you ever seen Adolph trolls lawnmower?

You are totally out of your tree Egnut - every sovereign nation in the world has the right to determine who may or may not enter their territory and under what terms and conditions they do so

The purpose of the Government is to protect the interests of the citizens they serve

And in democracies it is the elected officials who determine public policy not unelected civil servants

Andrei said...

Oh and btw Egnut - the escalation in Ukraine is not Russia, it is not in their interests to see an escalation there at all

Rather it is driven by the globalist elites and the Ukrainian Government in particular who want to sabotage if they can rapprochement between Russia and the West

Catholic (now post Christian) Europe has been trying to impose its values on Holy Rus since the sixteenth century and this is a continuation of this ancient project now taken up by the rabid neocons who gained ascendency in the American foreign policy establishment under Bill (BJ) Clinton

They are pissed that there wont be any SATANIC gay pride parades in Sevastopol in the near future and that syphilitic American sailors wont be spreading their filthy diseases among the local girls forced into prostitution by the neo liberal policies their new vassals will be forced to adopt the way it has played in the Baltic republics

The poorest countries in Europe are the ones that have recently come under the NATO Jackboot or ones that NATO aspires to annex such as Ukraine and Georgia

...the swamp is being drained

The current incumbent is the swamp. Won't release his tax records, won't divest from conflicts of interest, makes political decisions based on his business interests, dismisses experienced officials and replaces them with relatives and cronies, sacks the acting Attorney General for doing her job - it's more like Turkey or Russia than a western democracy.

...every sovereign nation in the world has the right to determine who may or may not enter their territory and under what terms and conditions they do so

Within the constraints of the law, yes. A federal judge and now the Attorney General have found that Trump's decree isn't within the law. That may be entirely uncontroversial in many of the world's sovereign nations, but it's not acceptable in the ones that have rule of law.

Psycho Milt said...

...the escalation in Ukraine is not Russia, it is not in their interests to see an escalation there at all

Really? The Ukrainians are faced with losing their most powerful ally, and the Russians are facing an ex-client that's suddenly a lot weaker than it was a few months ago. Who has an interest in escalating the conflict now? Gee, it's just impossible to figure out...

What law? - that is legalistic sophistry to advance a political agenda

Some years ago my own mother who had lived in New Zealand as a legal resident for many years was stopped from boarding a plane back here after a trip home because she did not have the necessary re- entry permit and was held up for three days before the paper work was sorted

Andrei said...

"The Ukrainians are faced with losing their most powerful ally"

The USA is not Ukraine's "ally" - they are trying to be its masters using a Quisling Government they installed in a violent coup d'etat

The Ukrainian SSR was the richest and most developed region in the USSR and American meddling and malfeasance has made it the second poorest nation on the European continent and systematically destroyed its industrial base

FFS until recently the Ukrainian minister of Finance was an American born and bred in Chicago

Well, I'm no expert on US law but federal judges and the Attorney General are, so I'm willing to take their word for it.

Some years ago my own mother who had lived in New Zealand as a legal resident for many years was stopped from boarding a plane back here after a trip home because she did not have the necessary re- entry permit...

Rest assured that if your mother had been stopped because the Prime Minister of New Zealand had spent months vowing to ban Orthodox Christians from entering the country, then issued a decree blocking entry by citizens of the Russian Federation, and as a result your mother and many others were detained or blocked despite having the necessary re-entry permit, protesters would have been thronging the airports here just like they did in the States. I expect the local civil liberties union would have taken it to court too - although, that would assume that our Bill of Rights Act actually counted for something, which is probably taking the analogy a step too far.

Andrei said...

"Rest assured that if your mother had been stopped because the Prime Minister of New Zealand had spent months vowing to ban Orthodox Christians from entering the country..."

I am trying to remember exactly when that occurred, sometime in the 1990s I think and it was the result of a law or regulation change that occurred while she was away

But despite the spin this is not a "Muslim Ban" it is a 90 day restriction on the entry of people to the USA who are the holders certain passports. It applies to Christians and Druze and even Jews who may hold those passports and there are Jews is Syria and Iran.

And here btw is the relevant section of the US code that allows President Trump to do this

US Code(8)(12) S1182:

(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

And that's why senior law officers who act politically are summarily dismissed.

Andrei said...

It rediculous Adolf all the faux outrage over this.

How many immigrants does Japan take or Korea?

Japan is not about to allow hordes of people from North Africa or the Levant migrate there.

And do we get our knickers in a twist over that?

No we don't!!!

David said...

And that's why senior law officers who act politically are summarily dismissed.

Looks like you and President Pussy grabber use the same lexicon (look it up, Chachi).

Providing advice based on the law is not a "political action"; sacking someone for understanding and applying the law is.

Just look at the language President Golden Showers (with Steve Bannon guiding his crayon hand) used : "...betrayed the Department of Justice ...", "...weak on borders...", this is political language.

But beware anyone who dares point out that Wife Beater Trump is an ignorant, malignant fool.

And the rubes stand on the platform cheering as the trains head to the gas chambers ...

andrei uses the standard xtian defence.

Others killed more than xtians so we're aren't bad at all. We really only killed people in nice ways and for their own good. Honest Injun.

Some of us like to think we are better than that. The US once held itself out as a beacon of hope, welcoming people who sought succour and opportunity. Now it has become a frightened shadow of itself.

The outrage is not faux, it is trumplethinskin's banning of people from 7 countries based on faux fear mongering. Andrei, list all the terror attacks on US soil by citizens from Trumpeters banned list. Then, compare and contrast the number of US citizens killed on US soil by nationals of the majority Muslim nations NOT on Trump The Pillagers list, you know, the ones where Trump has business interests.

First they came for the Muslims.

And we said NOT THIS TIME MOTHERFUCKERS!

Be careful. Your head's about to explode.

Her advice was not based on the law.

My reading of it is that she set herself up to be fired in order to give herself cred with the big leftie law firms where now she will be able to command a seven figure salary.

David said...

Your reading carries as much weight as any of President Enrich Myself's "promises" to divest himself of business interests.

Even Jeff Sessions, President Rip Up The Constitution's choice for A-G, disagrees with "your reading".

But during Yates’ 2015 Senate confirmation hearing, Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions — who is now Trump’s yet-to-be-confirmed nominee for attorney general — grilled Yates on her responsibility to defend the Constitution and U.S. laws against then-President Barack Obama’s “unlawful” views.

“You have to watch out because people will be asking you to do things and you need to say no,” Sessions said during the hearing. “If the views the president wants to execute are unlawful, should the attorney general or the deputy attorney general say no?”

“Senator, I believe the attorney general or the deputy attorney general has an obligation to follow the law and the Constitution and to give their independent legal advice to the president,” Yates replied.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/video-shows-jeff-sessions-pressing-sally-yates-to-defend-the-constitution-against-presidents-unlawful-views-151137405.html

But President Pussy Grabber has no use for independent legal advice, he is the bestest lawyer, never lost a case, loves the constitution bigly, doesn't have really small hands and 250 Billion people attended his inauguration.

It is no surprise that the deplorables of the right love Trump, they will always gravitate to a strong man and lick his boots.

How about you pull your nose out of Murdoch's Der Stürmer long enough to read Hannah Arendt's "The Origins of Totalitarianism"?

Andrei said...

David you are loosing the plot

What Donald Trump is doing is legal - I even went to the trouble further up this thread of posting the legal mandate for him to do this with a link to relevant laws

My friend there is no nation on this planet that has open borders for all and sundry

They even have border control between the USA and Canada and every fucking day at those border posts some American citizens trying to enter Canada are turned back for one reason or another, the Canadian authorities deeming them to be potentially undesirable people to have in their country.

And Australia deports New Zealanders they deem undesirable does it not? We don't like that because they are usually people we don't want either but under international law are obliged to take

And there are plenty of people we don't let in either.

And the reason is that the Government of a sovereign nation has a duty to put the welfare of its citizens first and foremost - something the Governments of some nations seem to have forgotten, which is why we are likely to see political upsets in countries like France this year

Psycho Milt said...

I even went to the trouble further up this thread of posting the legal mandate for him to do this with a link to relevant laws

If only the Attorney General and the federal judges who granted a stay on deportations had been given the benefit of your legal advice...

Andrei said...

If only the ex acting Attorney General and the federal judge singular not plural who granted a stay on deportations...

Granting "a stay" says nothing about the legality of the order, rather it buys time so that the legality of the order may be tested in court

Furthermore "the stay" only applies to those who were in the air when the order took effect, most of whom have already been released and allowed to go about their business in the USA - indeed the plaintiffs in this case had already been released and permitted to remain in the USA when the hearing was held and "the stay" in their case is purely academic

Psycho Milt said...

The "acting" Attorney General is the Attorney General. And it was multiple federal judges - the Washington Post reports four: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2017/01/29/four-federal-judges-issue-orders-blocking-parts-of-trumps-executive-order-on-immigration/?utm_term=.1d5d48b5e9dd.

The AG wasn't convinced the order was legal as issued by Trump and neither were four federal judges. That's because Trump and his cronies are either incompetent or deliberately creating chaos because they see potential benefit in it. The protester outrage was less about the legality of the order than the blatant discrimination involved - you can declaim all you like about PotUS having a legal right to discriminate in whatever way he sees fit when it comes to border control, but a sizable proportion of the citizenry don't share his bigotry and are willing to say so.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

The Acting Attorney General was not confirmed by the house and the senate and serves at the pleasure of the president. Get used to it.

Nick K said...

Get used to all those working for the Administration as only being "acting"?

That actually seems clear, and is the reason for concern. The only ones he won't dismiss are his sycophantic relatives, brought in through nepotism. They all clap when he says utterly stupid and horrible things. He's never going to dismiss them, lest he has no cheerleaders in his inner circle.

Andrei... you have more spin than a Hotpoint. To dissect your nonsense into individual paragraphs would take an A4 page. ie. It is a Muslim ban 'cos he promised one and Christians are exempt(he said so).

So it's OK to invade a country but when they get a bit miffed and retaliate they are terrorists and acting in an illegal manner.....

"They are pissed that there wont be any SATANIC gay pride parades in Sevastopol in the near future and that syphilitic American sailors wont be spreading their filthy diseases among the local girls forced into prostitution by the neo liberal policies their new vassals will be forced to adopt the way it has played in the Baltic republics

Would luv to spend more time chatting but my sock drawer needs attention and talking to a Troll on minimum wage is so time consuming......your NZ "mum" is about as real as Adolph Trolls house in Australia. Andrei, fact free bullfuckingshit, as per usual from a Russian Troll doll.

Incapable of answering a simple question, you veer off in to irrelevance and garbage.

No one is denying any nation has the right to determine who does or does not gain entrance, but President I Wanna Fuck My Daughter is not acting to protect the US from terrorists. He is acting out of spite and vindictiveness, he is doing Steve Bannnon's white supremacist bidding.

If President Wife Beater was serious about protecting the US he would have placed a ban on immigration / visits from Saudi Arabians, Pakistanis, Russians, and anyone who flies a Confederate Flag - these are the real threats to the lives of US citizens.

But he can't, he is compromised by his business interests in those nations, even though his business interests are in flagrant violation of the US Constitution. You know the one that is apparently illegal to posses in a US airport.
