It is widely reported that the Labour hopeful in Philly's old seat was only Luke warm to the idiocy that is Light Rail in Auckland a year ago.

Now sharing a kerbside with the excuse for a leader it seems it could have been the road to Damascus and not Dominion Rd.

Led me to recall the old chestnut about the hooker who in response to a question would you service me for a grand, assented but when the offer was lowered to a tenner screeched what do you think I am.
Only to be flattened with "oh I think we have established that we are only arguing about the price."

Sadly it will fall to ratepayers and taxpayers who will be forced to pay for this latest act of seduction with opms and how much it costs will not even enter the debate.

Common Sense Beats Research.......

.......especially when it comes to nutrition.

David Farrar has an interesting story about a guy who lost eight kgs in a month while eating nothing but meat pies and vitamin pills.  Oh, yeah, once a week he substituted three beers for one pie.

I have a message for all those rabid leftie anti America food Nazis who infest the universities of Australia and NZ.  ( Their irrational hatred of MacDonalds and KFC is a facade for their hatred of America.  For them, obesity is merely a means to bash American based companies.  They don't really care about making fat people skinny again. )

Drive out into the country and have a look at a mob of beef cattle grazing on lush white clover and perennial rye grass.  These cattle eat a 100% pure vegetarian diet.  Not even cooked.  This is nirvana for the food Nazis.

But hang on a minute.  The bloody cattle are fat.  VERY FAT.

That's because they eat lots and lots, not just a little bit.  And that's the point that the charlatan Food Nazis overlook.

It seems to me that the hundreds of millions of dollars being wasted by these people on bogus research would be much better spent developing safe and effective appetite suppressant drugs.

A Week Is A Long Time

The American election has just turned into an "A" Grade comedy show.

Can you just imagine what it must have been like when Clinton and Co first heard-

Comey has re-opened the file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The were all huddled together planning their election night victory parties when the shattering news struck.

He can't do that!  He's bought and paid for.   Jesus, Bill, you'd better make sure that bitch Loretta doesn't decide to break out too or I'm sunk.

Crooked Hillary has demanded that the FBI releases all information relating to  the new investigation.  She should be careful what she wishes for because I expect Mr Comey in fact is getting ready to do just that.  About three days before the election and there won't be a damned thing she can do about it..

My first visit to Australia was to accompany my daughter to Sydney when she won a retail promotion and had to travel short notice to collect. None of her friends or spouse could manage so Dad stepped up with the proviso there might be some creepys who could jump to wrong conclusions, we were to be accommodated in the Cross after all

Any way nuff of that, with one day sans any planned activity I suggested a coach trip to the Capital just down the road.

Good old Murray's coachlines,  we  just missed the start at down town depot and when daughter burst into tears all stops were pulled and they used other services to get us aboard at Livepool and we were gone.
After Goulburn the road to Canberra leaves the Hume Highway and around half way along that secondary highway, Lake George lies alongside, with its waters lapping.
That was c1990 then a decade later other daughter and her man secured IT work in the ACT and we made multiple trips to visit  them but Lake George had gorn away. Replacing it were fenced pastures and an expanse of land with a puddle sometimes to be seen in the distance.

Now that all the doomsday predictions have also buggered 'orf'  Lake George has returned and is almost full again, salty, some fish and the fences submerged but it wont last. It filled  last June in that big weather event but after years of dry it rapidly drained into the soils, however further significant rainfall and it is back and will hang about.

So if Lake George is on a bucket list now is good,  as  it will again dry up as it has done for centuries.

A interesting intersection of climate and weather in a vast landscape.

Is the breaking news that the FBI is re-opening their criminal investigation into Clinton's use of a private e-mail server a game changer just ten days out from the election?   Trump probably hopes/thinks so in much the same way as Hitler greeted news of Roosevelt's death just as Russian forces started to push their way into Berlin.

Certainly the polls have tightened a tad in the last few days but the reality is that it's the Electoral College vote that counts, not the popular vote, and right now has Clinton at 326 with 270 needed for victory.   They are projecting Clinton with an 81% chance of victory.

24 hours is a long time in politics; ten days an eternity.   Right now you have to say that Clinton is on track to win but, such is the distaste that many Americans hold for both candidates, this latest revelation could cause the 'soft' Clinton voter to abstain and harden up the 'soft' Trump vote ... in which case !!!!!!!!!!!????   Gonna be an interesting few days.

Serial trougher and lefty Steve Lowndes has found himself another post and like any other turtle finding itself on top of a post, is lost.

"When you're driving down a country road and you see a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle. You know he didn't get up there by himself. He doesn't belong there; You wonder who put him there; he can't get anything done while he's up there; and you just want to help the poor thing down."

Steve, recently elected as an ECAN councillor jumped at the chance to be noticed, in a news item on Lake Forsyth or  now being reinstated as Te Wairewa and the ongoing problems of toxic alge.
Sadly there is no "Big Dairy" to blame and AFAIK I dont think there is more than a house cow in the catchment of the lake. The truth is that there are probably significantly fewer farm animals grazing the short stream catchments than there were when I first visited the area over sixty years ago and  warnings aplenty in the fifties as to how dogs and livestock were at risk of death after drinking the water in the otherwise quite beautiful little body of water.

In the early days of european invasion of the area, the lake was navigable up to Kinloch from the sea but the inexorable march of shingle northwards from the Rakaia River mouth, it will never be feasable to reopen the lake to sea flushing that would end the toxicity in a flash.
"The Riviera", "Birdlings Flat" or as it will eventually become again Te Mata Hapuka, where Steve lives,  what he does with his nutrient laden remnant from what I presume is a septic system but a dollar to a knob of goat poo it is not taken away from where it sits on that expanding shingle bank.
A geographical feature that also contributes to the water health status of Lake Ellesmere or Te Waihora to the west. An historic estuary lagoon from The Rakaia and Waimakariri rivers, Ellesmere needs to be released to the sea on a regular basis that only drains the water building up from  inflows and leads to no sea flushing, without such intervention Ellesmere woud eventually reach well towards the City.

By far the greatest risk from effluent entry to Forsyth will come from increasingly expanding human settlement around Little River/Cooptown, where there are twice as many permanent residents in that district than the areas settled over the hill around Akaroa Harbour where  a "sh^t fight" is ongoing as to where the treated effluent will be disposed of from Akaroa/Takamatua. The latest brain fart, pumping it to the relatively low density populated  Robinsons Bay flats.
Duvauchelle, a rapidly growing part of the Harbour at its head, has a system that seperates solids from liquids with the solids being trucked over the hill to Bromley in the Eastern City Suburbs and the liquids treated and pumped into the Harbour where the sea lettuce is doing well.
Running into Forsyth is the output of all the septics and composting toilets of humans, yes the very same who in part sent Steve to the city where he is now in position to make a difference.
Bah humbug, Mr Lowndes, just fence the bloody lake off and use it as a research opportunity for Lincoln and Canterbury Universities.
Any other options I am aware of will cost billions and will still be doomed to fail.

Eric strikes again, at Offsetting Behaviour

One of the saddest facts around the demise to obscurity currently in its end game with tenuous abilities of what pass as reporter skills in the van, is the increasing ploy to resort to academics and other  self promoting drips under pressure hereafter called experts, on every and all matters being primarily used as "clickbait".

Now serious melon and acknowleged as having basic understanding of water quality, Mike Joy has plunged into economics and clearly he is lacking even a basic understanding as to how, possibly the major influence on our lives functions in the twenty first century.

Why members of the oh so accurately designated melons gain such traction is baffling but well done Eric Crampton on a demolition successfully accomplished.

The news that various assorted peace group activists, so called, are gearing themselves up to protest the visit of the USS Sampson, a DG51 Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer, coming as part of the commemorations acknowledging 75 years since the establishment of the Royal New Zealand Navy, is as predictable as it is sad.

No matter that the ship visit does not compromise our anti-nuclear legislation.   No matter that the protocols regarding the visit have been signed off or are in the process of being signed off for naval vessels from three other nuclear powers (India/China/France) to participate in the commemorations.   No, these rag-tag protestors will single out the USS Sampson as being about as welcome in New Zealand as a pork chop in a Synagogue.    They will give vent to their anti-American hate and rhetoric as they have done for the past half century.    Nothing changes for them ... they, along with ISIL/ISIS, view America as the 'Great Satan'.   Spot the connection.

The latest advice I have is that no Royal Navy ship is coming.   If that is confirmed it is disappointing.   The RNZN grew out of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.    While clearly the RN is stretched I would have thought they might have pulled out all stops in order to attend.    The fleet review in Auckland should be spectacular ... possibly the largest gathering of warships post WW2.

Clowning Craze Hits Australia

Meet Maclom the Beclowned.

The front page of Rockhampton newspaper, the Morning Bulletin.

If you go by the RCP polls the US Presidential election is all over bar the shouting.   They show Clinton leading in all but one poll with a margin of between one and fourteen points.   The one poll to go against the trend is the LA Times/USC Tracking Poll which has it for Trump at plus one.

My one word of caution.   I have to wonder if the huge barrage of negative publicity about Trump has resulted in Trump supporters being reluctant to declare themselves as such leading to an under-reporting of his actual strength ... that in the privacy of the ballot booth people will vote from their anti-Washington establishment heart rather than their head.   A long shot but a shot nevertheless.

The website to monitor now and on election day ... hat-tip to the US Ambassador for that.

First encountered yesterday in The Press, a survey on ten dollar meal options, a feature that resonates here in paradise with their preoccupation with harvesting tourist dollars  making eating out more expensive than desirable, is this morning expanded to cover other main centers.

Not on the Press list was a newish Thai eatery on the acute corner where Strickland St joins Columbo St in Beckenham, discovered some weeks ago.
Situated in a now closed Helyers Pie shop  (strange coincidence huh) this very nice fully licenced  eatery with an extensive Thai menu feeds us on Fridays for ten bucks a head on a regular basis. No Gold card involved either.

There are still many places offering good food for ten dollars a head.
Mind you with little searching I can find a Pie and a Pint at well in excess of twenty bucks a head  and it can disappoint to boot.

Stuff reports that a young man,  Julian Lee, lived on pies and pints with supplements for a month and lost 8 kilograms, wow that is one and a half stone.
We indulged in a Pea Pie Pud with lashings of gravey yesterday for lunch and the guilt was at times palpable.

Lee did admit he was not as mentally sharp on the mono food diet but still considered pies as desirable food

His calorie intake from the truely orrible diet that would have given the food nazis coniptions was estimated at 1500 a day while he needed around 2500 to maintain his bodyweight on a 1.68m  frame.

Is  that good supporting evidence for the totally false mass attack on convenience food to be consignedd to the garbage bin or what.

Oh and afaik there was no bloody taxpayer trough dollars involved.

Nothing to see here: They're Nats!

Here's two stories/issues you won't see on Kiwiblog.

Millions of dollars of Steven Joyce's Corporate welfare flushed down the bog.  That's very bad news for Dean Lonergan.

And, seven of the top 10 spenders on air travel for ex MPs came from the Nats.

But it could be worse, folks.  It could be Labour doing it!

Case proved beyond any doubt.

Then again everyone knew that, didn't they?

The totally discredited and corrupt United Nations not only reappoint the Saudi government to the International Human Rights Committee for a forth term, their Geneva representative  is now in the chair of a powerful and very influential HRC committee.

The Nation that is a shoo in for a podium finish if not the Gold Medal as the perpetrator of human rights abuse having  declined a lengthylist of investigative visits  from the world body. A body  that sees New Zealand's choice of name for the revamped CYFS as a problem yet appoints a Government that continues to chop headsoff on a weekly display of depravity unchallenged,  should have its membership investigated not be appointed  to any position of such hypocritical  magnitude.

The UN is well past its use by date, toxic is not strong ehough.

Audrey Young and beautiful Sue 'Smacking' Bradford's dopey daughter leading the charge with a "General Not Quite" as expert witness have tried to suggest It is embarrassing for John Key that a troop carrying freighter, Boeing built, purchased used,  from a Budget Airline was grounded in Townsville. That left the Prime minister led delegation to India stranded while alternatives were sought.
Young was of the opinion that Key should have been angry, what that would have achieved is a big fat ZERO.

The only embarassing bit for me was the entitlitus inspired whine that continued after the engines were shut down.

The remnant entity that was the once very proud and respected Royal New Zealand Airforce now a gutted skeletonised bunch of chopper pilots and a few others flying around in old largely superceded cargo planes have two ex passenger jets to move troops and light equipment from our lonely fixed  carrier deep in the South Pacific  where they manage to impress those intellectually equiped to understand such matters,  perform astoundingly well.

Last time we endured a bunch of whiners complaining that a shoe string Airforce was in their over egged egotistical worthless opinion, inadequate,  was a .recent junket to Fiji where "it does not matter what we do Frank is still in command" and someone who clearly had a wish to be given "penthouse" was forced to do what most New Zealanders do when on holiday, pee in a bucket.
Why a talented operator such as Key puts up with the third rate coverage the MSM deliver I have absolutely no idea.
When Savage led the first Labour Government to power as the great depression was preparing to meet the challenge of a resurgent Germany, his socialist colleagues believed that the than largely unsupportive mainly print media needed to be circumvented to get their messaage out.
The solution was to create a radio network where their people could control the message and it was highly sussessful.
So why Key perpetrates the fifth collumnists ability to spend their entire output in opposing the success that in almost all measurable indicees is apparent but burried under a landslide of negativity, is a total mystery.
Purchase or lease a lear jet type plane to carry the people he needs and leave the idiots masquerading as reporters to find their own resourced access to what ever they choose to create, then flood the media inboxes with an avalanche of government generated press releases and starve the morons of what they seek and leave them the  minutiae they just love to wallow in.

A fleet of two planes found them selves forced to remain in Townsville and that is no surprise, shit happens.
My "fleet" of  two well maintained vehicles and a VW Beetle are reduced to one functioning at present but then I am not trying to get to the Sub Continent with a bunch of free loading attention seeking dribblers from both sides of their mouths, whining about how unfair it all is.

Kiwiblog gives oxygen to an alleged serious misuse of police powers.

A recent afternoon meeting of supporters of voluntary euthanasia  ended and departing attendees were stopped at an apparent police 'alcohol'  checkpoint.
Before being screened or tested the mainly elderly females were asked to provide their names and produce their licence.
Up to that point the clearly misguided and power drunk officer who is responsible might have got away with the little gross misuse of police power action.
However in following days at least ten of those attending the meeting were  interviewed in  a followup visit from police.

The person directly responsible for that grossly offensive and unlawful action should be sanctioned and fired, no ifs, buts, maybes,  or any whitewash.

I am a fervent and supportive admirer of the NZ Police in their task of doing what most would never venture to do, in fact I have done unsworn work for them as a public duty ( jeez one would not do it for the money)  but this is a leap, not a step too far.

In my book respect needs to be earned and not demanded.
Michael Cheika clearly believes that his rather ordinary bunch deserve respect based on the great players of previous years while his bunch of nigglers led by sniveller pedestrian Steven Moore it's not an option, sorry Michael respect is difficult to store and your storage is causing spoilage and rot.

For a Nation that has another code's captain caught on audio threatening to break the arm of an opponent causing grief, to suggest  NZ Rugby lacks respect for The Wallabies is laughable.
Yes the descendents of convicts losing need to have their egoes massaged but the only aspect of their game that has been raised this season is niggle and off the ball rubbish.
I am certain Savea would not have run Speight down any more than a prop forward moving forward many yards away from where an up and under kick will land is an automatic penalty, it is the rules, clearly two dads Dane changed his line to ensure Savea did not achieve the impossible, by then Speight was gone..
Now how about the head butt from Hooper on Retallick followed by a petulant facial off the ball, not exactly going to raise any hopes for a rise in respect Michael.

I normally rarely consider the all too often ordinary attempts by Emmerson to be remotely humorous, inane yes, but he clearly scored a direct hit on Cheika with his clowns are coming effort so for that he can have a 'C'.
Then there was the 'caterpillar wth McCaw's head imposed that was such a hoot in the Daily Telegraph with the header 'only grub McCaw stands in the way of the Wallabies', some years ago, only served to raise the intent of the ABs.
It's the media stupid.
As if any offering in our little rag tabloid is anyway an opinion  of NZ Rugby, hell one only needs to observe how any imperfection that can be tenuously tied to our national game is handled.

Funny olde worlde notion Mr Cheika but your understanding and mine do not align on respect.

Folks ... limited blogging for a time ... of great relief to many I'm sure.   Short story, had a major incident with an escalator in Auckland and came off a clear second best.  Casevaced to the Auckland Hospital where a CAT scan revealed some bleeding on the brain ... apart from that no real injuries; sutures in the head, a gash on the arms and left leg, a fair amount of bruising and an interesting set of imprints on my shoulder made coming in contact with the escalator treads as I cartwheeled my way back down ... one unkind observer said it was a gold medal performance. Also a badly damaged ego and and suit to match.

NO, I had not been drinking, back foot slipped.

The head warder in the neurosurgical ward has agreed that I should be released with time off for good behavior so I'm heading back to Paihia.

Going to go light on blogging for the next few days.

Great kudos to the Auckland hospital.   Their professionalism was unquestioned.  Their care and attention was superb.   I didn't want for anything.   It was a five star facility with five star service.

Not To Be Outdone

Australia's ABC programme of late has made a specialty of serving up manufactured and false horror stories based on footage shot anything up to four years ago.  (Turnbull was dumb enough to fall for it, in one instance.)

Not to be out done, New Zealand's oleaginous ratbag tabloid continues to feature political analysis written fourteen months ago.  Of course, the fact that these pieces seem to boost Winston Peters and denigrate the National Party is entirely coincidental.

Note the aging headline for an aging charlatan.

Winston becoming NZ's Churchill

The News - In Black And White

Three Aboriginals died in Walgett after drinking moonshine whisky containing high levels of methanol. (Only one of six news reports mentioned the dead were Aboriginals.)

Walgett?  I hear you ask.  Where the hell is Walgett?  Not very far from Bourke where you don't want to at the back of.

Who lives at Wallgett?   Not many white fellas.

It is ironic that Australian children who live in cities and have never been anywhere near an outback settlement are being taught all about aboriginal culture by teachers who have never been off a bitumen road.  Of course the prevalent culture of alcohol abuse, child abuse and woman abuse is rarely mentioned.

Little, if anything, is taught about the country's history of the last one hundred years.  How do I know?  Every day I meet youngsters from age ten to eighteen and I ask them.  A typical response is "We have lots of aboriginal studies and there's no time for anything else."

In the suburb of Elizabeth there can be found streets named Midway, Yorktown, Halsey, Blamey, Spruance, Fletcher, Kincaid, Enterprise, Saratoga, Nimitz and Hornet.

None of the kids I talk to have the faintest idea of who or what these names represent or of why they are there.

Sad, isn't it?   Their heads are crammed full of aboriginal studies.

I  shall attempt to assist.

Mr Barry I have just heard your possible ignorance based but I suspect deliberate ongoing inane rubbish attitude to the reality that is Fiji 2016.

You might like to just listen to yourself and the boring one dimensional lispings of  Bwabwa Dwever and then try to work out whether a one man one vote democwacy that Fwank has established  to repwace the crooked corrupt, chief based Methodist enabled government that denied the many decades old Indian ethnic voters decisions with armed force.

After independence, after over one and a half decades of Mara, Timothy Bavandra led a coalition based on Indian descendants from the colonial sugar industry and trade union strength to successfully challenge the ethnic power brokers enjoying Methodist church support and won power.
That did not please many of the ethnics who enjoyed a life under Palm trees while the entrepreneurial inspired Indians made the economy function, and a fuzzy from the army  Sitivini Rambuka staged a bloodless coup.
What followed was decades of rubbish politics as many who should have known better tried to maintain governments whose power came from the by now racial minority Melanesians.
NZ  and Australia even sent Maori God botherer and ex head of NZ Anglicans, subsequently NZ Governor General, Sir Paul Reeves in a Gilbert and Sullivan like e facile attempt to maintain racial supremacy for the minority palm tree shade layabouts.

Then Mr Choudrey upset things with another Indian party electoral victory only for another entitled moron George Speight to try to intervene, this time people died and another crook (convicted and jailed) Quarase was installed.

Military Supremo Commodore Frank Bianirama   Said enough and in spite of the best efforts of the
Ignorant has established one person one vote democracy that will always be operating in the shadow of a coup instigated by the laughably "disenfranchised" racist Chiefs.

Through all this tragedy many biased media and stupid paternalistic non Fijian polliticians have failed miserably to stop Frank, and now Bazza is whining that while the Fiji PM is here to see the rugby test on Saturday he won't " feed the moronic trolls".
Just let it go Mr Barry there are many more challenging problems in the Pacific Nations that need sorting, Fiji is doing better than most and you and your manipulative fellow "F" lister media hacks need to fix some fences.

Just For David

This will make his day.

To say the least, the American presidential electoral system is byzantine.  Apparently the latest polls show a new threat to Crooked Hillary and her gangsters' ride to presidential glory.

An outsider is coming through thee pack as they enter the final straight.

Independent Evan McMullin, a Mormon, looks to have a good shot at wining Utah.  If he succeeds he will take forty (I think) college votes away from Trump and crooked Hillary.  Should this happen and should neither Crooked Hillary nor Trump gain 270 electoral college votes from the remaining states, then the House of Representatives will decide who will be President.  You caan bet it won't be Clinton.

Yes, of course it's a long shot but it is fun to speculate.  So obsessed have the Clinonista media been with denigrating Trump that they won't have time to dig any dirt on McMullin.

Where Did They Get The Money For That?

The grey merc, that is.

People have been gathering at the scene.

A mob of fat Maoris dropped of a stabbing victim at the Whangarei Ambulance Centre and then hung around hugging each other after he died.  Apparently their transport was a Mercedes Benz sedan.  The only way you make enough money Up North to afford one of those is to sell drugs. (or you could be a pervert school principal)

So one wonders:--

How far did they travel to dump their still breathing corpse?  (My guess would be from somewhere between Matawaia, Motatau and Pipiwai.  They still eat white men up there.)

Have they all been arrested as accessories to murder?

Are we going to see another episode such as that in  the Manawatu where PC police failed to carry out their duty in the face of pressure to be 'culturally sensitive'?

Would a term in prison help these people lose weight?

Eric Crampton is a jewel.
Yesterday In "Offsetting Behavior" Crampton exposes something that Mr Key said he would sort out but has dismally failed to deliver.

An old biddy in Ekatahuna milks four cows and makes cheese, so what.

Here's what, from her little cottage activity that generates over 40k in income, poor old Biddy Frazer Davis has to spend around HALF in testing fees to the bloody gummint.

Now under simple "buyer beware" that has been and afaik is still an operating bit of our laws, that is preposterous. Can I assume that Biddy's four cows are unlikely to be risking economic disaster for The Nation in an overseas market as say Fonterra's dirty pipes threatened.

Is that politically correct crap being applied to all the produce that finds its market in the plethora of Farmers Markets that are operating in almost every hamlet across this country or is it OK to buy and eat an "organic" apple that has half a struggling worm in the next bite having the other half almost certainly ingested.

Mr Key with his increasingly arrogant bunch of closed minds who have ceased listening to Joe and Josephine cannot rely on an increasingly inept opposition to keep control of the treasury.
Find the Hi-vis clad, cellphone carrying, clipboard operator who is perpetrating this appalling rubbish and place him/her in stocks in the short main street of "Eke" along with an ample supply of discard fruit from a coolstore and watch true hard working New Zealand take their pleasure.

Gone To The Dogs

Australians have handed in their testicles to the PC brigade.

Yesterday brought the news that Australia's appalling Human Rights Commission is to prosecute cartoonist Bill Leake for telling the truth about conditions in outback Aboriginal settlements.  Apparently, the cartoon is deemed to be racist by the leftist wankeratti who control the HRC.  Of course it is extremely unlikely any of these fools ever have lived in the outback but, sadly for Australia and its Aboriginal people, the truth does not suit the narrative approved by these central city dwelling do gooders.

Notice this shows a BLACK policeman berating a drunken BLACK about his delinquent BLACK son.

The problem here is ten times worse than anything in NZ and because of the hysteria promoted by the left, authorities are scared to act when they should, resulting in children who should have been removed from their disgraceful parents being bashed and killed.

The controversial Bill Leak cartoon. The controversial Bill Leak cartoon. The controversial Bill Leak cartoon. The controversial Bill Leak cartoon. The controversial Bill Leak cartoon. The controversial Bill Leak cartoon. The controversial Bill Leak cartoon.
The controversial Bill Leak cartoon.
The controversial Bill Leak cartoon.

Those political realists who are convinced the current MSM are a trade union directed arm of the MOU coalition need no further evidence, there is no doubt.

Kiwiblog posts on a snout elected last Saturday to the Wainui ward of Hutt City Council as "an independent", is now announced as a candidate in a field of three to find a successor for "the Pugilist" AKA Trevor Mallard.
Hot on the long list of serial tribal labour figures who inexplicably and unchallenged, discard all their decades of intense involvement in upper eschelons of the ever dwindling cadre of the now century old NZLP,  plus the never explained Pony Express style role of Parliamentary Services employed Press Secretaries departing Labour, in particularly the office of the current disaster director A A Little, just a "sounds of silence".

To become a viable candidate for such a tenure as a press secretary, a serious career needs to be made in the swamp that is currently referred to as "The Media", it is not for graduates of the socialists employment agencies curiously titled "Journalism schools".
Should four employees in three months become victim to sudden departure from the National Party's leaders office, could it be expected not to have the NZLP and it's media arm dominating headlines about "What the hell is going on" , while an embedded Union hack masquerading as a potential prime minister seems immune to any investigation.

Having endured the scandal of unchallenged scrutiny of the tag team ex Labour MPs and other embedded hacks running as " independents" in the just held local body elections where name recognition looms so significant as a positive foe success, Justin Lester in Wellywood a notable exception,  it is clear to many that media bias to socialists is a slam dunk guilty as charged.

Imagine the conundrum the MSMwould face should the race to be POTUS had come down to Clinton vs Sanders, oh hang on no probs, Bernie was a declared socialist wasn't he.

up her in the beautiful BoI.   In the bush that surrounds Mon Repose the rosellas have come back aplenty; there are two huge wood pigeons that have made their home in a tree that looks down on our balcony (don't tell Sonny Tau that); the kiwis are back 'snuffling' while the possums continue to try and evade the traps installed per courtesy of Bay Bush Action.

A few brave souls are starting to hit the water; the restaurants are jam packed (we were at Alfresco's last night, beautiful meal, the New York cheesecake was a standout); two new businesses about to open in our version of main street (Subway and an ice-cream outlet - although why we need three of them within 10m of each other has me beat);  there are very few properties for sale and rentals are just about impossible to find ... problem for Paihia is that there is no more land, we're surrounded by either by DOC forest estate (very hilly) or sea ... 4k inland on the road to Keri2 there is the Watea Waters development with new homes going up weekly ... many snapped up by refugees from Auckland.

In short, Paihia is booming.   Great place to be.   Problem for me is that for the next two weeks I'm OOT 'working', bugga.   Will just about manage to squeeze in a game of golf at Waitangi b4 I go. Next post (maybe) from Rydges Hotel in Auckland.

There has been speculation around the possibility that Hillary Clinton may have Parkinsons.

So bloody what.

Sir John Walker has been an admitted Parkinsons patient since 1996 , twenty freakin years. During that so called period of affliction he has continued a full working life,  commercial and public and I have no knowledge of any serious problems around the delivery he achieves with either.

My love of over half a century has been diagnosed with the neurological condition for over six years and although some problems around movement and energy. She stIll accomplishes more than many her age and although some of the medications can give side effect problems including nausea, none of them can in any way be problematical as to her abilities to reason, think or act.

Whether that woman has Parkinsons or not is of little interest to me however that said there is a whole lot of baggage in her life that gives serious cause to doubt her fitness for the office of POTUS.
So I return to my central thoughts around the current state of the Union and wonder still how such a great and successful nation can find itself so bereft of genuine talent in its search for a next head of state.
Makes a great case for the monarchy in the UK and those Commonwealth States that have continued to avoid the bogfest of debauchery that the US finds itself struggling in.

but with the latest Fox News poll which traditionally has a Republican bias showing that Clinton's lead over Trump has grown to 7 points and Bill O'Reilly, their respected anchorman and erstwhile Trump supporter now saying out loud that this election is a sad day for America and it can't get much worse for camp Trump.

But it can.   Adam was a cowboy the last time that Utah voted the Blue team but right now Clinton is only a few percentage points behind Trump ... the reason, a guy called Evan McMullin, standing as an Independent, who in the latest Monmouth University poll was preferred by 20% of respondents.   McMullin was a sometime CIA agent and GOP policy strategist, a devout Mormon (helps in Utah) and, above all, an avowed conservative who argues that Trump never was.    As it stands right now he's on the ballot in 34 States and likely to go higher.   He won't win but every vote he gets is one less for Trump.   One senses the stirrings of a campaign to win back control of the GOP from the dead end street that Trump is driving it down.

Still, it's never over till it's over but I suspect that America is poised to elect as their President someone who will assume office as hugely damaged goods and, more likely than not, be a one term President.

King Bhumibol Adulyade had died aged aged 88 ending the reign of the world's longest serving monarch.    In Thailand he was revered and enjoyed almost God like status.   He was the glue and unifying force that held the country together through a succession of military coups.   The outpouring of grief that you see is genuine.

A couple of decades ago  I had the privilege of dining with the King and Queen at the Royal Palace in Bangkok when I was part of an official delegation enjoying 'guest of government' status. An unforgettable experience made even more memorable by the fact that the King went out of his way to have a one-on-one conversation with me as the most junior member of the delegation.   First and only time I have ever eaten off gold plate.   He also presented me with a medal which I could never wear.    I think it commemorated Buddha's birthday.

Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn (64) will now assume the throne.   He is widely seen as a playboy who spends much of his abroad and does not enjoy the same affection as the late King did.

Interesting times ahead for Thailand.

I see that crimdotcon is contemplating a return to politics at next years general election but this time he's looking at hitching his wagon to the Greens.    You can read it here

In any normal Party I suspect his support would be about as welcome as a pork chop in a synagogue/mosque but whoever said the Greens were a normal Party.

Whatever, I'll be cheering him every step of the way always assuming of course he won't be in an orange jumpsuit heading east.

Watching the chattering classes react to Judith Collins and you are reminded of Pavlov's dog and classical conditioning.

It is refreshing to see someone stand up and tell sometime anarchist Metiria Turei and her Labour Party side-kick Jacinda Ardern along with their fellow politically correct driven apologists a few home truths ... that many of the problems blamed on child poverty can be sheeted home to the parent.   "I don't just see monetary poverty.   I see a poverty of ideas, a poverty of parental responsibility, a poverty of love, a poverty of caring".

She went on to point out the obvious ... that this country has an extensive and generous social welfare system, better than many other developed countries, that caters for people in genuine need.  "I can tell you that it's not just a lack of money, it's primarily a lack of responsibility - I know it's not PC - but, you know, that's just me."

Lack of responsibility nurtured by the idea that the welfare state is there to provide the answer to all of life's problems.    Said it before and I'll continue to say it ... Sir Apirima Ngata had it right when he said social welfare will destroy my people (paraphrased).

Judith Collins tells it how it is and the chardonnay socialists squeal because they don't like hearing simple home truths.  We can continue to throw money at the problem until the cows come home but until there is a step change in mindset then nothing much will change.

Auckland local body elections

Like a lot of people, I watched the clusterf**k unfold last Saturday, but my sentiment was more of amusement rather than disappointment.  And that's because I saw this coming about 6 months ago, or maybe even longer.  I was involved in the campaign at a candidate level for a local board, and tried to distance myself from Auckland Future as best I could.  Stevie Wonder could have seen what was coming for them.

The political right in local body politics in Auckland exhibit the same attitude and make the same mistakes that Labour does at central politics level at the moment.  Both sets of players talk at voters, rather than to them.  They both believe they are right (as in correct) and soon the dumb voters will wake up and realise it.  But critically, they both utterly fail in their political messaging and strategy.  Both Labour and the centre right in Auckland local body politics believe if they keep doing the same things - the very things that have failed Labour and the centre right in Auckland local body politics since 2010 - eventually they will succeed as the voters will inevitably see sense.

Of course, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of stupidity.

The centre right in Auckland local body politics simply fail to understand how an ex Alliance MP and staunch trade unionist, Grant Gillon, gets 11,000+ votes in the North Shore electorate.  Now they're shaking their collective heads over how a Labour candidate from 2014 in Northcote can get elected along with a soft blue green type candidate in the ward, with their candidate getting about one third the votes of the winner.

Until the likes of Auckland Future start listening to people who actually do understand it, and until they start beginning to understand, they will continue to fail.  And miserably.

A flame war has errupted between ACT leader Seymour and PPTA president Angela Roberts over the unions apparent lack of serious concern for the far too numerous cases of teachers using their place of power to abuse and misuse pupils, is covered in a Kiwiblog post.

The Teacher unions and their rather inappropriate  dogma based attitude to registration and Partnership Schools coupled with a total absence of remorse or responsibility for too many damaged young lives leave one somewhat saddened.

A move to ressurect Scouting in my little village in the 50s had me rush home to seek to join up only to be mortified at my father's absolute rejection of that option. Totally mystifying to an eight year old and only apparent years later when the reason for the flat rejection became  apparent.
Just as with the Priesthood, teaching and youth activities in general there are a bunch of dirty bastards who cannot let such an opportunity pass yet still inspite of  rigourous and well intentioned efforts far too many slip the net and destroy innocent lives.

In an interview with Newshub, Roberts suggested stress could be a factor in the 75 cases undertaken and 54 teachers struck from registaration in the last three years, now call me cynical but stress would be well down on my list of excuses for such appalling stats Ms Roberts whereas a belief in attitude,  monitoring and supervision might just need a review.
Of course had Seymour been a raving mad, man hating feminazi from the left maybe the point he made might have escaped Roberts attack.

I wonder if I should fall foul of plod for being a teaspoon of whisky over the idiotic arbitary near margin of error limit, how will "It was stress officer" go down, not well methinks.

I don't get to listen to Leighton Smith too often nowadays but I tuned into him for a hour yesterday while driving to Whangarei.    A major topic of conversation was the 'debate' and it was interesting the caller that took him (Leighton) to task calling him out as being 'pro Trump'.    Leighton's response was to deny that ... said instead that he was resolutely and utterly opposed to Clinton and all she stood for and that the only way to stop her wrecking more havoc was to cast a vote for Trump .... that, if you opposed Clinton, an abstention or a vote for a third Party was effectively a vote for Clinton.

I agree with his assessment of Clinton ... she is untrustworthy; she would have great difficultly lying straight in bed; she has more positions of free trade than the Kama Sutra; her tenure as Secretary of State was at best unspectacular defined by one word ... Benghazi; she was front and center (along with husband Bill) implicated in the Whitewater controversy which ultimately saw 15 other persons convicted of multiple crimes (with four subsequently pardoned by husband Bill); she is on the left wing of the Democrat Party; she is Washington establishment cozy with Wall Street ... the list goes on and on.

So, with all that in mind, why would you not vote for Trump?     For me it's simple ... I don't believe Trump has the temperament to be Commander in Chief ... he's a flake and, IMHO, a slightly unhinged flake.   I don't want an unhinged flake with his finger on the nuclear button.

Unhinged vs bad and bad wins but I could never hold my nose and vote for her.

There is some disquiet at the seriously low turnout at the local-body elections and some rather disturbing solutions for a problem that in reality does not exist.

living as we do in a stable benign social environment it is easy to understand why the right to vote is casually discarded by so many for so many reasons. Until the right to vote without any endangerment is curtailed or threatened then little will change and idle talk of solutions such as postal, electronic, compulsion, and this morning I heard somewhere an even greater idiocy, pay a reward for voting.

If casting a free vote at a polling booth is too much trouble then those who cant be arsed will be disenfranchised and we will be ruled by the votes of those who care. Winston Churchill once said democracy is not without fault but when compared to all other systems, may be the best.
We get the governance we deserve and if a vote is not worth the bother of actually making the effort to exercise it then it is probably discounted to the point of worthless anyway.

Personally I am far more concerned at the truely appalling quality of candidate so often confronting the voter, maybe a serious look at the way Palmer has screwed the scrum as to what an elected official can actually achieve in the face of an overpaid beaurocracy, so many one issue pressure groups and race based adhoc hurdles placed in the path of good governance from duly elected representatives of the citizenry.

The creepy sleaze-bag toilet watcher who lit the fuse that caused the fire for Aaron Smith  alleged to have succumbed to a desire for a babe wanting to indulge in a lawful if somewhat fraught casual liaison, is regretting his prurient act of privacy invasion, is now being reported by NZME to be regretting his act.

"He only did it because his missus insisted",  so sad buddy, having revealed yourself as an oik, throwing your missus under the bus is entirely fitting for the sicko big girls blouse you clearly are.

How about you find  your conjones and front the same media you shamelessly used to try and knock the All Black off his deserved pedestal as a world class player albeit with a somewhat unworldly appreciation  as to how his personal behaviour might be seen by others, with your cowardly revelation and make a public apology in person for your shameless so far anonymous act of doubtfully lawful sleaze.

Farrar has a Kiwiblog post titled "A Win For Wellington",  that covers a deserved kick in the groin for a police leadership who thought they had the power to rewrite the law. IMHO the win although achieved by Wellington City was a much wider victory for the rule of law and a landmark hit on an increasing belief that police headquarters wishes to move from policing to a greater power in areas , the Judiciary and Parliament is empowered by convention in our unwritten constitutional status to perform.

Now  I am a long standing supporter of the Police front line officers with the all too often rather disgusting duty of cleaning up amongst the outcomes of over indulging in alcohol  and dealing with drunks and all the very worst they deliver but the top brass are getting me offside. With the policy directives increasing use of speed traps, enforcing of drink and drug law in increasing the severity of their muscle by executive order that flies in the face of what has been established as the intent of legislators and judges , the brass over reached and got their beans.
Using threats of tying up licensing applications that can already be onerous enough, by opposing all applications that unless include a significant alteration of conditions or a need to remedy serious historical  offending , merely need a costly rubber stamp just to feed the crats the Police threatened more costs and delays.
Police have an increasing propensity to manipulate the law by fiat when they decline to use the already numerous options the law provides. Setting up under stress licencees by waiting until they become overwhelmed by staff numbers insufficient to deal with a sudden surge in patron pressure, placing speed traps at the end of passing lanes or the base of downhill roads and the moronic reducing blood alcohol levels to almost margin of error with the accompanying destruction of business values where alternative transport options are non existent, only perpetrates the increasing loss of respect and the latest strike by Wellington Command is just further excess zeal.

How's about "Police Get Their Reins Jerked, Hard."

The inability of the center-right in Auckland to get its 'act' together and speak with a single coherent voice has led to the inevitable result.   On the very occasional good day the center-right will be able to muster ten votes against eleven (including the Mayor).   One most days it will be six.

I have no doubt that Goff will do a deal with some of the more faint-hearted center-right Councillors, so called, and shape Auckland the way the 'left' would have it without any thought of fiscal responsibility.   We all remember when Goff froze when challenged by Key to 'show us the money'.

The one bright spot in this omni-shambles ... the re-election of Denise Krum in her Maungakiekie-Tamaki ward.   Last election she defeated Richard Northey, the incumbent Labour Party heavyweight and leader of the City Vision/Labour bloc in Council by just under 1,000 votes.   This time her majority was close to 5,000.      Denise is acknowledged as smart and hard-working even by her opponents.   Self described as a fiscally conservative, socially liberal centrist, she attracts support from across the political spectrum.   Denise is destined for bigger and better things.    Watch this space, watch this lady.

Donald Trump should do the right thing for the Republican Party he professes to support and withdraw from the race.    The release of the 'sex' tapes is the final nail in his coffin.

OK, you can argue that his philandering is nothing more or less than that of JFK or Billy Boy ... the one whose 'other half' famously said "It's hard to keep an old dawg on the porch".    That's not the point.   It's gaff upon gaff upon gaff (his latest about PTSD and the need to 'tough' it through .... bit rich from someone many would argue was a draft dodger) that, along with a fair dose of misspeak thrown in for good measure, and you reach the point where you can properly conclude he has now forfeited the trust the GOP bestowed as the right and proper person to be their standard bearer.

As I write this a slew of Republican Governors, Senators, House Members and Party activists have indicated they no longer support his candidature.   Can I suggest that in the next 24 hours the slew will become a flood.

Trump is an arrogant fool.    He has handed the election to Clinton on a plate and America deserves a whole lot better than HRC.

Christchurch Mayoralty facile snook at real choice!

While an initial count gave the hack and abruptly curtailed Labour MP, 75 000 votes,  a surprising 14 000 voted for the screaming skull who ran on keeping our assets and free bus rides for all, and  an even more astounding 1400 gave their democracy token to Tubby who is difficult to contact as he eschews phones so as to deny the gumment spies information about himself.
Now Mr Minto last I heard there were no proposals to sell anything other than falshoods and someday you might actually in your second major 'plank" free aint free, work out  some other poor bastard would be paying even though the gift would never benefit them.

Meanwhile two thirds or around 140 000 didn't give their vote to any of them.

The pity was when I opened my postal vote papers with the very curious accompanying blurbs that were clearly exempt from truth and honesty in advertising that is legally obligated on non political snakeoil purveyors, the ballot did not include the very clear ommission, "none of the above".
At least then they would be denied the apparent satisfaction that any of them enjoyed any modicom of approval

So around 29% voted for the old grey mare, leaving the question how many did that to ensure Minto got nowhere near the levers of power, would they outnumber those who voted for Tubby as desperation to send a message, kicked in.

Thanks a bunch Mr Palmer, local Government is rather tarnished and inneffectual, it could be said.

Another random question why was an unusually slobbering and grinning temporary leader of the opposition so animated at the election of another suddenly "independent" candidate, this time in The City Of Sails.
Could it be another case of false packaging and measure that is strangely exempt from commerce commission scrutiny.

Fron the Auckland daily "tabloid" ;

"All Blacks coach Steve Hansen yesterday said Smith's sexual liaison in the public toilets had breached the team standards."

Some random questions in light of the fact the allegations are still just that

Do the National Rugby team have a preferred toilet designation for emergency use?
Do the "ambassadors and role models" have a code of abstinance?
Do alleged copulations have designated times and venues?
Was it the before and after the use of a disabled toilet while wearing official AB travel uniform ?
Was it the considerable hand shaking and embracing after the event without maybe hand washing, prior to departure for Argentina ?
Do our National team have a standard on "protection" or "health and safety" that was breached ?
Was it an apparent robust exercise without required warm up and warm down, maybe an ice bath to follow ommitted?

Sheesh Stevo elaborate, you can't just leave it there.

Recalling this morning an old AB legend who when on tour was confronted by babes wanting to get friendly, claimed he suggested he was happily married but maybe Chris Laidlaw could be up for it.

There are tensions in all political parties.   They tend to revolve around personalities rather than policy although recent events in the British Labour Party suggest they managed to achieve the double.    Third parties are particularly vulnerable to this witness what happened with the Alliance; the knifing of Tracey Martin by a nakedly ambitious Ron Mark and the revolving door that seems to define the Green's caucus.

UKIP seems to have excelled itself in this regard.   Currently polling in the 10-15% range with some commentators suggesting it is poised to make huge inroads in the Labour Party heartland vote.

Right now it is in crisis.   Their newly elected leader, Diane James, resigned after just 18 days on the job citing frustration and personal family reasons.   Then yesterday two of their MEPs were involved in a fight in the Party Room at Strasbourg which left one of their number, Steven Woolfe, hospitalised and needing a brain scan after he collapsed.     On top of all that you have Arron Banks, millionaire donor to UKIP threatening to leave the Party if Neil Hamilton, leader of UKIP Wales, was allowed to remain in the Party or if Steven Woolfe was again barred from standing for the leadership.    Then you have Dpuglas Carswell, their only Westminster MP, marginalised by elements still loyal to Nigel Farage  the ex (and now back as interim) leader.

Is shambles too strong a word?

For The 'Peak' Fooders

That is, the people who continually shout about the world being incapable of growing sufficient food to feed its population.  The Greens, mostly.

China has a vast stockpile of corn it is unable to quit.  Why is this so?  The gummint introduced a fixed floor price for corn and quest what?   Those bloody farmers just kept on growing more of it.  I'll bet they used heaps of GM seed and glyphosate to help the job along.

From the WSJ  (paywall)

The government this spring scrapped a minimum-price support program for corn started in 2007-08. That program, in which the government bought corn to keep prices above a certain level, had proved so popular that farmers grew more. The stockpile soared, doubling in size between 2009 and now.

Farmers harvest corn in Liaocheng, Shandong Province, last month. China’s corn stockpile is conservatively estimated to be 110.7 million metric tons by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

What about the privacy act?

So some chick needs a stud and Aron Smith wants a root, a quicky in private and a couple of perverts record it on their smart phone.

Suddenly the whole media have nothing else to obsess over, geez some people  have no recall of the passion of youth.

The silly bint in South Africa thought she had Jonah when good old boy Roger Randall thought he was special.

Some years ago on a summers evening two hikers were climbing a ridge across from our newly finished home here in Paradise and wherever their fancy had for a campsiteI have no idea, they struck camp about 700 yards distant in their two little tents.
Around 0900 next morning they stirred and did some ablutions when passion intervened and doggy style was the relief de jour. I mentioned the rather extraordinary theatre  to SWMBO who asked was I going to yell at them only for my response to recall we were young once .
Then camp was packed and they started to descend back towards town when light NW rain commenced but the funniest was to come with the clearly alpha male leading with a small pack and his bitch carrying a larger burden following, so medieval.

Two people consent and two perverts get involved, sorry but it was not their bloody business.
Aron was in his travel uniform so what, they found somewhere private and it is now between Smith and his partner and no one else.
Now that is a breach of privacy I have serious issues with, while the dopey law prevents me discovering the health status of a mate in care although others who  might not have any interest can be fully informed.

Oh and BTW the rugby union was not in the gun for the thug and his discharge without conviction Mr Idiot Dellow was squarely at the behest of the moronic judge Bruce Davison who made what in my opinion was a monumental error in favour of an apparently unrepentent thug over giving the bash to two chicks and annother two young men, one whose rugby career is now ended, but that didnt stop the idiots on one news from including it in a roll of dishonour for NZ Rugby

Politicians, sports people, management, workers, unemployed, preists, even professionals both modern and the oldest, all have urges and take opportunities that others might pass by, it is only news if laws are broken in moments of passion.

Jumping To Conclusions

Now that the dust is starting to settle in South Australia (as the wind drops) it is possible to see some very red faces.  The reddest of all belongs to state premier Jay (Jackass) Weatherill and the next reddest belongs to No Minister leftie commenter David.

You see, they and all their friends at the ABC and Fairfax thought the state's disastrous black out was caused by high winds damaging the interstate transmission lines on which South Australia reelies for its 'base load' power supply.

Turns out they were flat wrong.  The black out was caused by the near simultaneous shut down of the states numerous wind farms during high wind.  That shut down caused the interstate lines to overload, leading them to shut themselves down to avoid catastrophic damage, some considerable time BEFORE a few high tension pylons were blown over.

There you have it.  It has taken a perfect storm to expose the utter folly of subsidized Greens driven policies.   The state with the highest priced electricity and the second highest unemployment now has the most unreliable electricity supply.

So, what to do about it?

Well, Jay (Jackass) Weatherill is calling a 'renewable energy summit' having given  proposed participants just one day's notice of the momentous event.

Momentous? I hear you ask.

Yes of  course. It is of great moment and singular importance for this dope of a premier to have someone come up with a plausible excuse for his sins of emission.

If he was really smart, he'd announce immediate plans to build a nuclear power generation plant out here on the coast just north of Adelaide.  After all, South Australia has huge reserves of uranium, vast territory suitable for waste disposal and a desperate need for reliable power supply.

But he won't, because he's not smart and like his power supply, he's not very bright.

I see that Minister Foss has recanted on his previously expressed opposition to the repatriation of the remains of servicemen killed in the Malayan and Vietnam conflicts and buried in Malaysian cemeteries and is instructing the Veterans' Advisory Board to investigate the matter and recommend an appropriate course of action.

Better late than never.    My sources tell me the PM did not take kindly to the original advice provided by the Minister's office and that, combined with some heavyweight lobbying by senior cabinet ministers saw Foss forced to backtrack.

For the record and I know this view is not shared by all veterans my own position is that the NOK of soldiers buried in in civilian cemeteries should be offered the opportunity of having their remains repatriated at public expense.     I am less convinced that this should be extended to those buried in the British Military Cemetery at Terendak, Melaka.   I have visited there a number of times .   It is well maintained and cared for.

Having said that I acknowledge there will be pressure have these men bought back too given that the Australians have, in repatriating their own, made no distinction between civilian and military cemeteries.

I'm sure the VAB will consider at the matter sensitively.   A little bird tell me that Sir Wira Gardiner, himself a Vietnam veteran, will be seconded to the Board to assist them in their deliberations.   That is a smart move.

Should the Board decide to recommend repatriation I would hazard a guess that a number of NOK will decline the offer taking the view that 50+ years is too long they should continue to 'Requiescat in pace'.

Talking to a local while down at the library in Paradise and asked after her offspring.

Now her eldest who went to the city around seven years ago and did an apprentiship with a butcher, duly completed. he then went to Melbourne and became interested in furthering his options enrolled and completed heavy trade licence with forklift and other support certificates and moved to Perth.

Now if I am to believe the lies from the MSM the reduction in the mining sector has expats jobless and returning home to the new "lucky" country. However Stewart, for want of a name, found a mates ensuite where he could doss on "a mattress  on the floor" and started putting his "cv" around likely opportunities, nek minut in a pub got talking to an old geezer who gave him a heads up and now he is into his second 28 days on with fourteen off doing long haul support driving of big rigs for mineral exploration crews.

Gee whiz he could have been homeless, hopeless and another loser on a couch smoking dope,  instead  he is a one man success story and flying in the face of what the luvvies would have us believe about how hard it is for youth.

So how did that happen, he is just a good young bastard with salt of the earth toilers for parents, nothing special unless one considers a get up and go fella as special.
Mind you they all well might be just that.

it's just that I'm not very good at it ... only 35 points on Monday.    I can only marvel at the likes of Rory M you can drive the ball 350 yards off the tee or Zac J who, 100 yards out, is deadly with his chipping.

The Ryder Cup just concluded was brilliant golf.   Team USA deserved their victory.   What I didn't enjoy and where I really felt embarrassed for the Davis Love and his team was the quite over the top behavior by boorish American fans who took it upon themselves to try and disrupt the European players.   That's not golf by an idiot minority who have no respect for the game.

Certainly the tournament attracts passion and that is right and proper but there are clearly defined limits ... doesn't help when spectators turn up for a 0800 tee-off with a beer in their hand and by 1500 they're smashed out of their tiny minds.    Something has to change because if it doesn't the Ryder Cup will become a farce.

Tax avoidance is legit ... if the rules allow you to claim a deduction and you do then that should be the end of it.    So if, as reported, Donald Trump was able to claim a close to $1b loss that his business empire suffered in the 1990s with the result that he paid no tax for the next two decades then it should be a case of ... nothing to see here, move on.

But it's not like that.   He's running for President and there are a hell of a lot of taxpayers out there in voter land who, for a whole variety of reasons, will say that doesn't sit well with me.   The 'he's smart' argument run by the Trump camp may be right but the reality is that Trump, in not releasing his tax return, allowed the charge that he had something to hide gather a head of steam and perception became reality and the reality is a negative and right now Trump doesn't need too many more negatives.

The irony is that the Clinton Foundation has a lot more to answer for.

Bring back HST.

Irresistible Headline

"Pigeons Detained Amid Risk of Coo"  (slightly paraphrased)

It's hard to imagine NZ journalist with enough brains to dream up such a glorious headline.

Only in the WSJ Asian edition will you find such erudition.

Anyway, it seems those bad bastards from Pakistan are using carrier pigeons to assist in plotting an attempted coup in India.  Fortunately the good buggers found out and nabbed the feathered flutterers.  You see, not even Google can tell you where these phone dodging chaps have been.

See it all here.    Wots another $128,780 between 'friends'.   You might almost start felling sorry for him ... I don't.    A poor little rich man who, like crimdotcon, thought he could buy himself a seat in Parliament.

And some quite vocal commentators on this blog and others thought he was the best thing since sliced bread ... the messiah come to save us poor sinners.   Wot tosh.

But this time I'm genuinely confused.    It is reported here that the Labour Party has suspended Jackie Walker, Vice-Chair of Momentum (Jeremy Corbyn's cheer team) over supposed anti-Semitic comments made by her at a Labour Party training event.

Last time I looked antisemitism was defined as exhibiting hostility, prejudice or discrimination against Jews.

But hold on ... Walker in her defense claims she's Jewish as is her partner.   So the question ... how is it possible to be prejudiced against oneself ... I guess having a split-personality is a must along with a deep inbred loathing of ones other self.

But in order to be a genuine anti-Semitic one would think she would have to renounce her religion.

"THAT'S NICE" but "free it ain't"

Some moron in my power supply outfit is trumpeting their planned free charging parks in Little River to enable "electric" cars to top up before the trip over the "hill" to Akaroa.

So sorry moron it will not be "Free", it will be fully funded either by share holders or other consumers of your electricity as a direct subsidy to the posers pretending they are "saving" the freakin planet, most likely costing both whether they can afford it or not.
