Shillary has long voiced her support for the lesbian and gay community.     So, what are we to make of the revelations that the Clinton Foundation have accepted tens of millions of dollars from countries that persecute and imprison gay people .... or worse.

This list of donor countries was compiled by the International Gay and Lesbian Assn (IGLA).

  • Algeria: ($250,000-$500,000) Algerian law states: "Anyone guilty of a homosexual act is punishable with imprisonment.”
  • Brunei: ($1 million-$5 million) Brunei's penal code states: "Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman, or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years."
  • Jamaica: ($50,000-$100,000) Gay men caught having sex face up to 10 years in prison.
  • Kuwait: ($5 million-$10 million) Kuwaiti law states: "Consensual intercourse between men of full age (from the age of 21) shall be punishable with a term of imprisonment of up to seven years."
  • Oman: ($1 million-$5 million) Law states: "Anyone who commits erotic acts with a person of the same sex shall be sentenced to imprisonment from six months to three years."
  • Qatar: ($1 million-$5 million) Sentences for acts of homosexuality range from one to seven years in prison.
  • Saudi Arabia: ($10 million-$25 million) Islamic law in Saudi Arabia enforces penalties for homosexual sex, ranging from public flogging to death. For a non-Muslim who commits sodomy with a Muslim, the penalty is death by stoning.
  • United Arab Emirates: ($1 million-$5 million) Emirati law states: "All sexual acts outside of heterosexual marriage are banned in the United Arab Emirates."
Not sure how many ways you get to spell 'hypocrisy'.

On ANZAC day you politely listen to the Priest/Chaplain/Vicar drone on about about love, forgiveness and peace on earth. You consider yourself a God fearing Christian (I just made that bit up because I know you are not)without giving a thought that almost all of the worlds western religions are heavily invested in the arms trade, tobacco companies and alcohol manufacturers.

This is not an excuse, it's just the way the world works. Money has no parentage or conscience. It's what you do with it that makes the difference.

Egbut ... fair point but it doesn't make 'her' any less of the hypocrite.

Gerald ... miss your point.

Such as use them as the manufacturer intended. Or use them as a political prop, or to make billions of dollars.

This should be fun; hey Vet, can you explain the hypocrisy?

Clinton Development Initiative staff in Africa train rural farmers and help them get access to seeds, equipment and markets for their crops.
◾Clinton Climate Initiative staff help governments in Africa and the Caribbean region with reforestation efforts, and in island nations to help develop renewable energy projects.
◾Staff at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, an independent, affiliated entity, work in dozens of nations to lower the cost of HIV/AIDS medicine, scale up pediatric AIDS treatment and promote treatment of diarrhea through life-saving Zinc/ORS treatment.
◾Clinton Health Matters staff work with local governments and businesses in the United States to develop wellness and physical activity plans.

Doesn't appear to be anything on the charity site that identifies that they have specific programs directed at L and G's

I am unsure why you find this surprising. The love of money may be the root of all evil, but money itself has no morality. It simply does what it was designed to do.

The Clintons have also raked in millions from Wall Street, partly as a thank you to Bill for his relaxation of regulation and partly as a bribe to Hilary to ensure that she does not increase regulation.

As far as I can tell, New Zealand trades with all the above mentioned nations, even though the nations laws and attitudes are at odds with those expressed above. Are you advocating a BDS on each of those nations? If not, then why is Clinton's acceptance of the money any worse than NZ's?

David probably because no Kiwis are standing on the Democrat ticket.
If Bernie was the most likely candidate he would never have posted it.

Vet, do you have a source? I trawled the ILGA website and couldn't find this info.

Noel said...

David that's an interesting question.
Fox News broke the story claiming the ILGA provided the information.
Yet when you click on the ILGA reference in the Fox story it only directs you to their world map showing countries laws. No indication of any correlation by ILGA on Clinton Foundation donors.

A fabrication?

"In a 2010 study of the news coverage of the 2004 political party conventions, Morris and Francia found that Fox news reporting was more negative toward the Democratic Convention and gave Republicans more opportunity to voice their message than the other networks."

And Veteran sourced his from Fox.
No surprises there.

You are right Gerald.

Veteran did cut and paste from FOX.

Story title was "No Outrage? Rights Groups Silent as Clinton Foundation Takes Millions from Countries That Imprison Gays."

So, an non story, a beat up from Faux News and the right lapped it up.

How about a post on how much the NRA spends buying Senators and preventing any meaningful gun laws?

heres a start
