A VERY UNFORTUNATE TURN OF PHASE

Brexit has won 52% to 48%.   The people have spoken and the people are right (even when they are wrong).     Clearly this was a vote against the political establishment in much the same way as those supporting the Trump and Sanders campaigns are, in effect, giving the fingers to both the Republican and Democrat party establishment.

It's not a time for gloating as that idiot Nigel Farange did in jumping the gun and claiming victory in a rant rather than a speech.   To describe Brexit as as victory for 'good' and 'decent' people is to suggest that the 15m who voted for 'Remain' are neither ... but that paled into insignificance when he claimed they won their victory 'without firing a bullet'.   Not sure the family of Jo Cox would agree.

Farange is an idiot and right now cool heads are needed as the UK is sailing into some quite unchartered waters.    Plain why the official Brexit campaign wouldn't have a bar of him.

Interesting times ahead for the UK and Europe and beyond.

It seems neither The Times now The Australian has subeditors.

An hour ago the Australian printed a hot off the press opinion piece from The Times by some erudite fool in which he lectured Cameron on what he must do now that 'Britain has voted to stay in the EU.'

And for the Australian stock market which was off by $70 billion today.

Why ever would you pay a pommy pollster?

What a bloody mess the next PM will have to deal with. It seems the old adage of being careful what you wish for has come home in spades.

It England leave had 6% winning margin but in Scotland it was 24% remain. This will almost certainly lead to Scotland leaving the union by way of a referendum.

About five billion NZD has been wiped of UK shares on the opening of the stock market this morning. Cameron has resigned, Sterling down 10% and the Europeans have yet to comment.

It is now entirely down to statements of intent from the EU...there will be no favours or helping hands from Europe to smooth the transition but in the meantime, until documents are signed in two years, there will mass legal immigration to take advantage of "acquired rights" which means if you are resident in a country you have the right to remain if treaties should change.

Lord Egbut of misplaced confidence.

PM Boris, Chancellor Gove & EU Negotiations Minister Farage aren't stupid enough to let the bludging Scotts another referendum.

To describe Brexit as as victory for 'good' and 'decent' people

That's just what it is.

is to suggest that the 15m who voted for 'Remain' are neither

because they're not. Euro Communist Bureaucrat Functionary Bludgers...

... but that paled into insignificance when he claimed they won their victory 'without firing a bullet'.

They didn't fire the bullet: some unstable Labour party member did (just like the Orlando shooter turned out to be a registered D'RAT).

Farange is an idiot

Farage is a hero. What Churchill and Thatcher were in the 20th Century, Farage is in the 21st

Legbut

I agree with you on Scotland but from whom will they get their subsidies without which they will struggle to survive?

Will they apply to join the EU?

You know, it almost could be said this is the third time Britain has beaten the Germans in the last one hundred years.

AT ... sorry to rain on your parade but Farange as European Negotiations Minister would see the UK shut out of Europe completely (putting aside the small problem that he ain't even an MP let alone a Member of the Government ... but you knew that, didn't you?) ... sigh.

You can argue the raison d'etre for UKIP has disappeared with the result (certainly Corbyn's Labour Party will be hoping it has)

One more observation ... I think the Remain campaign overdid it with the doom and gloom scenario. In my experience a positive campaign wins hands down on a negative campaign most times ... clearly the Brexit's 'we will curb immigration' message resonated particularly in the Labour Party heartland in the Midlands and the Northeast even though, when pressed, it remained a slogan over substance. Likewise the financial markets got caught up in their own rhetoric and priced themselves on a Remain victory and are paying the price.

Whatever, the sun still came up, the sky did not fall in and there is a lot of water to flow under the bridge ... and any other trite saying you can think of.

For Egbut ... glad (for the sake of your health) that your non vote didn't make any difference to the result.

and your point is? Which part of BREXIT don't you understand?
Also, with any luck there won't BE any "Europe" (no EU, EEC, EEA, EFTA, ECHR, etc etc) by this time next year!

(putting aside the small problem that he ain't even an MP let alone a Member of the Government ... but you knew that, didn't you?) ... sigh.

He's an MEP. quite appropriate really. And he will be an MP soon, and a Cabinet minister.

Whereas what has happened in the North is that UKIP has replaced Labour - Labour are now a party of urban immigrants, bureaucrats, and state workers in the NHS and elsewhere, mostly in London & Manchester. They are dead in Scotland, and dead in most of England outside London.

" I think the Remain campaign overdid it with the doom and gloom scenario"

Oliver Morrissey summed it up well

"If voters are well informed a sensible debated based on evidence is feasible. When a large proportion of voters are not well informed but are disenchanted and angry with politicians, opportunists can exploit their emotions."

Yeah means test NZ Superannuation.

Cameron is goneburger. I see that Dame Margaret Hodge, Senior Labour banckbencher and MP for Barking has, along with seven other Labour MPs, lodged a vote of No Confidence in Jeremy Corbyn over his failure to rally Labour Party voters in support of the Remain campaign.

The Veteran said...

AT ... I've worked out your cunning plan ... UKIP MP Douglas Carswell resigns is seat of Clacton so as to allow Farange to win it in the subsequent by-election. A star struck Boris invites Farange into the cabinet and appoints him Minister for Brexit.

Coupla small problems ... Carswell hates Farange with a passion having figured him out a long time ago and called for his resignation as leader of UKIP on numerous occasions. Farange has reciprocated calling Carswell "irrelevant". Boris doesn't do star struck nor does he appreciate egos bigger than his own.

Sorry, doesn't stack up.

Means test?

End overnight.

NZ INDEPENDENCE!

The Veteran said...

AT ... you do need to know how much you brighten up my day (by making my larf). First your comment about Farange and now your foray into the superannuation debate by calling for the abolition of NZ Super. That will certainly resonate with??? Enlighten me ... which NZ political Party advocates that? I mean not even ACT or the Colin Craig idiot Party ventures down that road.

Hope you realize how much stupid comments like this consign you to the dustbin of irrelevancy.

Angry Tory said...

which NZ political Party advocates that?

ACT should: The NZ Independence Party will!

Also, you can be sure that forthcoming MANA/Pasifika/NZ Asian political parties in 10-20 years time won't way to pay super to an ageing Pakeha population when they know they won't get anything like that themselves.

lodged a vote of No Confidence in Jeremy Corbyn over his failure to rally Labour Party voters in support of the Remain campaign.

After Corrbyn came out with a memo on Friday morning saying he was really for Leave all along...

Egbut ... errrrrrr yes but if 'he' can screw around with the facts concerning Brexit and then make a crass and insensitive victory speech in which he referred to bullets fired then I reserve the right to screw around with his name.

The Veteran said...

AT ... re your superannuation policy. Pray tell then your solution for the large number of recipients of NZ superannuation who have no other income. Workhouses perhaps ... or even perhaps a more 'elegant' solution where they are marched into workhouses and told to undress before being sent for a 'shower'.

Do you have to work hard at being stupid?
