It's Come To This

I see the Labor gummint in Victoria has banned the singing of Christmas carols in state schools.

Yes, they are deemed offensive, or so it seems.

This is the same Labor gummint which, on achieving office, reneged on a contract to build a much needed ring road in Melbourne and paid out close to HALF A BILLION dollars to the contractor by way of compensation.

Thus may be seen the true genius of socialism, where no price is too high to build no roads.

Noel ... wots the diff? Xmas Carols ... 'Christmas carols are deeply religious, mainly focusing on the Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus' ... Wiki

The carols may have a religious content or not but if you read the new rules carols are not banned, hymns are.

I'm sure if you look around there will be a description of the difference between hymns and carols. Probably something about the latter been festive. There you are Christmas hasn't been banned.

Noel ... that's my point. Hymns have a religious content. Most Carols have a religious content. Wots the diff. Why one and not the other ... another example of pc gone wild.

Noel, why don't you read the link? I quote:-

".....the teaching and singing of traditional Christmas carols will now be banished from the classroom.

“Praise music”, defined as “any type of music that glorifies God or a particular religious figure or deity” will be banned from music classes beginning in January. This is the last year parents will be allowed to volunteer their lunchtimes to teach kids Christmas carols for the end-of-year concert."

And Snoopy's.

Dare I say it the old crooners "White Christmas" is traditional enough now to be a carol. See Christmas hasn't been banned.

It's not the members of other religions who want this. It atheists, agnostics, socialists, druids, communists and tree huggers who see this as a way to piss off the mainstream of society. Their quest for power takes them down any route that furthers their wacky agenda.

42 percent reported no religion whilst Christians were down from previous years at around 48 percent

Not such a big mainstream these days.

Jingle bells
jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
in a one horse open sleigh

There is nothing remotely religious about this

It is however dire and should be banned on the grounds of bad taste, along with most of the other so called Christmas music -

If more Christians took the example of this Carol seriously we wouldn't have all this kind of communist leftist evil to deal with

Good King Wens had a brilliant PR man, Noel is just French for xmas all of them cobbled together in the 1800's apart from the dirge "O come all ye faithful".

In fifty years the Pogue's "Xmas in New York" will be a carol as will Noddy Holders "Merry Xmas everyone".

On that bombshell....Mery Xmas everyone whatever your faith, and you too Andrew.
