The illegal occupation of the Kaitaia Airport continues .... a regional airport has been shut down.    Flights are suspended,   Ngati Kahu are holding the people of the Far North to ransom,

If a bunch of rag tag bunch of Pakeha nobody's were blocking SH1 over some grievance, real or imagined, the police would have dealt to them in nano seconds.

The NZ Police oath requires that they serve "without favour or affection" and to "keep the peace and prevent offences against the peace".

Do the job you are sworn and paid to do.   Do it now.

And the offence? Trespass? Of property owned by?

Noel ... Do I really need to do the research for you? Kaitaia Aiport is owned by FNHL which is the property arm of the Far North District Council.

As to the offences and do I really have to list them? For a starter how about S51 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990 as it relates to Tresspass ... on conviction three months in the slammer or a fine of $20,000.

You seem to be on the side of the protesters,

At last, only two days too late, the coppers have arrested them and carted them off to the slammer.

"At last, only two days too late..."

Not how the press are reporting it.

"A 28-hour occupation of Kaitaia Airport by Ngati Kahu ended today in a blaze of tyres and five arrests."

Mind you those over the ditch do have a habit of embellishing things.

errrrr ... the 'occupation' hasn't ended. Six rag-heads remain. All have been issued with trespass notices and the plod are giving them 'time and space' to reflect and comply. While I don't agree with the time and space bit it is good to note that Superintendent Le Prou (Northland District Commander) is doing the job he is paid to do.

Questions need to be asked about why it has taken the police so long to act. Delays in enforcing the law can only encourage these Popataheads.

We should also inquire about where the elected MP for Northland is in this. Seeking advice from the Green Parrot perhaps?

On a positive side, this should be a heads up to the voters of Northland that expressing their disgust at Mike Sabins behaviour by electing Whiskey Peters has it's consequences.
