THE BOSTON BOMBER GETS DEATH

I note the jury deliberating in the case of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Bomber found guilty of all 30 charges against him (including 17 which carried the death penalty) has decided that he should be put to death by lethal injection.

I have previously indicated my opposition to capital punishment.   Far better that he should be locked up for life in a super max prison, kept in isolation, and allowed out of his cell for only 1 hour each day.    Plenty of time for him to reflect on his crimes.   Actually, this could be worse than a death sentence.    After 10, 20, 30 years whatever, he might be screaming to be put down.    It might be argued that death would be the easy way out for him.

Others will see it differently.

Too right. He's had more than enough of his share of "justice" (lawyers, courts, TV, food, lodging etc) all at the taxpayers expense. Take him out the back and ut a bullet into his head, and feed his body to the pigs.

I agree I could not agree with the Death Penalty.
But US Juries are peculiar people with strange Laws.
As you say let him rot in Jail for the rest of his natural.
However it will be at least 10 years before somebody determines to put him to death.
"To be old and wise one has had to be young and foolish".
He is young.

I agree with Angry Tory!

I don't agree with the death penalty either but rather than have the bugger rot, he should be made to work. Prison work schemes should not undercut outside enterprises however

Far bet it for me to disagree with my my learned friend 'The Realist' but offering him work would allow him the opportunity to engage his mind elsewhere.

Given the enormity of his crime he should not be allowed that privilege.

I certainly agree with the concept however.

Veteran., what you propose is, in fact, the death sentence. The only thing different from the injection is the time he will take to die.

Unlike most I don't believe in any "right to life" nor any sanctity of human life and I see your suggestion as cruel and inhuman.

Far better to put the bastard down.

AT, bullets cost money, hang the bastard then use the rope as a tow-rope.

The bastard wants to die and go to Mohammed's heaven with the 72 poor bloody virgins! He should be made to spend the rest of his miserable life in a cage with only his right hand for comfort.

I find it strangely ironic that someone has been sentenced to death for committing a bombing in Boston, the city that financed the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Charge it to his family.

Of course if we were to engage in the death penalty for these Islamist terrorists, the bodies should be wrapped in pigskin and buried in places unknown thus denying them the opportunity of entering Paradise to claim their virgins (and mothers in law presumably)

Lots of right wing roaring and shrieking going on today! Grrrrrr! Angry Tory/Sinner/Andrew Berwick/Mainstream Mike, why do pretend to be several right wing wankers at once? One of you is enough, funny as you are.

So Howie ... having managed your normal spruke of vitriol reserved for anyone who dares to express their opinion pray enlighten us as to where you sit.

Do you agree with the jury or with me or would you like to sit down with him in a Kumbayah jerk circle and ask for his forgiveness.

I find it hard to get all het up about it to be honest. The US undertakes hundreds of largely indiscriminate extra-judicial killings remotely every year. It's little wonder most of you are comfortable with them murdering this guy too.

Howie ... answer the question.

Christ, all right then. No, the death penalty is wrong on both moral grounds and in this case is counter-productive from the point of view of CVE outcomes. If he's alive you can try and discover what radicalised him and, you know, use that information to prevent others from a similar fate. Simple, really, unless you're a RWNJ.

The Veteran said...

Howie ... well done, wasn't too hard was it. Sad you have to resort to labeling all those who might hold a contrary opinion as RWNJs.

Guess freedom of speech doesn't figure large in the socialist lexicon.
