Too funny

Apologies to my National Party mates in advance.  But this is too funny not too blog about.
The number of public servants in Wellington continues to climb, and is higher than at any point since National took office in 2008.
How does the Minister spin this?
National created a new measure of "core" public servants, separating back office roles from those it says are consumer-facing. It says the new measure shows the number of bureaucrats is dropping, down 754 from the start of this year to 35,656.
"We're delivering less bureaucracy, and more teachers, social workers, doctors, and nurses," State Services Minister Paula Bennett said in a statement.
Sorry guys.  It's just hilarious.

I've no interest in defending National but think this is part of the problem Michael Bassett calls the Iron Triangle which features the voting public at one corner, government the other, and the bureaucracy at the third. Sometimes they want to pull in different directions but bureacracy is often the strongest most intransigent force. Wellington is the richest region in NZ for a reason. Civil servants hanging on there for grim life.
