ON THE GREENS AND ABORTION

I see the Greens have just announced that they want to decriminalise abortion and make it legal ... aka abortion on demand.

Methinks they should be careful for what they wish for.   I suspect many of their mothers might have opted for that course of action if they knew how their progeny were going to turn out.

Tried by the communists, tried by the Nazis. proposed by the Greens.   Spot the diff ... I can't.

Pathetic and childish. I'm embarrassed for you.

Yep, supporting a woman's right to choose is exactly the same as murdering 6 million Jews. Vet can't see the difference, but then he's an outraged right-winger sooo...

Well, if standing up for the rights of the unborn is "pathetic and childish" then I plead guilty.

sigh

There is a difference. The others were imposed. The proposal offers greater choice. Nice to know that it will enable those who have been raped a legal option

You're not doing that really though are you, Vet? If you were you'd be out protesting loudly against the current government sneakily allowing abortion on demand. What you're saying is that clarifying the legal situation to reflect reality equates with the worst mass murders in history. Even by your low standards, that's both nasty and asinine.

Claiming that people you disagree with should never have been born, and asserting that their own mothers would agree with you, is pathetic and childish and much more besides. As is equating people you disagree with with mass murdering war mongers.

Abortion is always wanted by those who are safely alive and that makes it a bit hard to take them seriously. When the Greens say there are too many people in the world I don't see them leaping off cliffs themselves to help - its easier to kill unborn people.

Vote for us, we'll make it easier for you to kill babies.

These green people are atrocious.

Don't be so hysterical, George. It makes you sound unhinged and weird.

So, Edward , you deny people the right to their own belief in the sanctity of life. It must be so comforting to be so utterly right about everything.

Hang on - who's "us," and why the fuck are you promoting infanticide?

The totally-non-abortion-needing-ever-on-the-grounds-of-no-ovaries-or-uterus commenters on this thread should have a squizz at this one over at the Hand Mirror.

Of particular relevance when considering whether our 1977 legislation is still useful are the following quotes about it:

"...one thing they did not do was ever find out the actual reasons people have abortions."

And:

"...the Royal Commission decided against recommending that rape be a ground for abortion because women would lie about being raped. A majority of 1977 MPs agreed."

Who says? You deny the right of rape victims to address the consequences. Do you find that comforting, Nookie?

I haven't denied anyone anything -- something you might have picked on had you not been using all of your cerebral RAM trying to come up wit h what you think to be a clever but actually pathetic bastardisation of my pseudonym. I take the view that it is not my right to impose my will on someone else. Equally, I recognise that there are some with deep seated religious views, honestly held, who think that abortion is wrong. I don't think you, or I, have any right to deride them. Nor do I deny you the right to be an insufferable and intolerant twit.

Right back at you Nookie. I'm not denying anyone the right to believe anything, but if they get hysterical about it I'm going to point that out. This must be challenging for you as you're struggling mightily. I note in passing you're not condemning Vet's Nazi comparison. That says a lot.
