The headline says it all

The headline from this Stuff article, that is:

                        Public sector grows under National

Both this, and Bill English's Labour budget, explain why National is in the high 40's.  Middle class welfare and heaps of state servants might be good for winning elections, but it's terrible for the country.

But it's not all bad.  It could be Labour doing it!

So the numbers of public servants essentially is no greater in Dec 2013 than it was in ec 2008?

How much greater is the number of people residing in NZ and the size of the economy measured by GDP?

In real terms that looks like a significant reduction in the number of public servants relative to the tasks they perform.

Sounds pretty much like another election year anti National Party bullshit non-story to me.
