ZIMBABWE

Those of you who follow events in that unhappy country will have picked up that in recent times thjere has been a substantial shift away from Morgan Tsvangirai and the MDC back to Mulgabe and ZANU-PF.

The reason is a basic one.   MDC legislators at all levels have proved themselves just as capable of enriching their persons from the public purse as their ZANU-PF counterparts ... and all the while the country continues to post a 90% unemployment rate and Harare runs dry of water.

And in the lead up to the election (if there is to be one) the revelation that Ian Smith and Lardner Burke (PM and Justice Minister, both long dead) remain on the voter roll ... begs the question doesn't it.

Zimbabwe is a failed state failing further.

Is this about New Zealand?
Heaps of people on piece meal work, no real increase in full time employement and the pollies, ex pollies and spouses feeding at the public trough.

Sorry I should have been more accurate.
"pollies,ex pollies and spouses and ex department heads and their spouses feeding at the public trough by the benefit of legislation rammed through under urgency at 3 oclock in the morning whilst the only parliamentary report was in the toilet."

Noel, you have it wrong. It is Chicago, where life long Republicans vote Democrat after death.

Gives a whole new meaning to resurrection.

Noel ... if you want to trivialise the issue of Zimbabwe as a failed State going south then OTY .... but I won't let you threadjack on my blog ... be warned.

Thanks for the heads up. Actually I had never heard that term before you...presented.....it.

Do they have Marshalls as in the sky version?

Noel .... clearly you have lived a very 'sheltered' life.

To enlighten .... "Threadjacking is a deliberate attempt at steering a discussion away from the original topic by bringing up another, which may or may not be relevant to the content of original post. Depending on the context, threadjacking can be used as a timely ice-breaker in an awkward situation (especially if you are the topic creator) or more commonly, as a form of cheap amusement for trolls. I have a friend whose son and daughter in law still live there - they can't get into NZ. As the world economy declines people like them will have fewer emmigration options which going to be tough on many.

She rates Tsvangirai way above Mugabe.

This what happens when you don't prepare for your departure and educate the locals well in advance. The old tribal habits die hard and I suspect we will see this type of bickering appear in NZ as Maori control extends and they revert to old ways while cloaked in suits.

No in the thread version they only have grumpy, intolerant one eyed National Party members with a delete key.
