Another Nearly Gold

Update:

It appears New Zealand knows the difference between Really Golds and Nearly Golds.

Well done!

Adolf just watched a few minutes of the Channel Nine Olympic coverage.  It was the ladies kayak which was won by the French entrant.

Australia's Jessica Fox came in second but what was most impressive about her was first,  her applause for the French girl when she recorded a faster time than her own and second, her obvious joy and celebration at winning a silver medal.  (Her mother won bronze in the same event in 1996.)

Not so impressive, the commentary team.  Wall to wall moaning and gnashing of teeth with this absolute pearler.  "It was soooo nearly a gold medal."

So there you go.  Australia now counts silver medals as 'Nearly Gold Medals.'

I've been doing my best to ignore the Olympics, but the bits I've seen on the news have been full of NZ sports "reporters" talking about their country's prospects for meddling in particular events. They make us sound a devious bunch of weasels.

She's got a winners smile and is hot to boot. If I weren't married I'd like to congratulate her in person
