`I am surprised the police didn't take clothing from all those present at the Scott Guy farm to test for gun powder residue. Maybe they would have found the killer. Unattributed.
pdms comment: That seems very sensible to me.
Disclosure: mrs pdm and I both know Kylie Guy and members of her extended family. mrs pdm was introduced to Scott at about the time they were engaged but neither of us have met any other members of the Guy or Macdonald families.

The evil perpetrator who carefully planned this crime would have taken that into consideration and changed clothing and footwear before returning to the scene.rfmplem
Possibly useful, but all it could do is associate a person with a gun that has been fired.
Your clothes might has gunpowder residue on them if you stood next to the shooter, for example, meaning residue does not imply you ever handled or shot a gun.
And residue presence on your clothes from *a* gun does not imply that that gun was the murder weapon. ie even if you can link McDonald to *a* shotgun, that does not mean it was the shotgun that killed Scott Guy.
So possibly useful, but circumstantial evidence most likely.
