As megelenomaniac makes another play with OPMs, this time pandering to the bottomless pit that is V8 Super Cars with a vague prediction the deal will bring in 3 times the investment why not let those who will benefit put up the freekin money.
I really enjoy Motor racing on tracks that give the sport some relevance to road cars ie Bathurst with it's "Mountain" (yes I have driven it and it is spare underpants when the speed going down on raceday is considered) and Rally driving on closed roads.
For F#*ks sake pass a freekin law to stop thieving bloody local bodies putting sticky fingers in the poor bloody ratepayers pockets.

Brown has got to go, he is an economic illiterate and has no concept of thrift. The future of Auckland is debt and bankruptcy under the current left leaning regime. I just hope that the citizens wake up to the disaster that is unfolding and get rid of them in the next local body elections.
I'm sure the denizens of Pukekohe would benefit to a far greater degree by a ten million dollar reduction in their local body rates.
It is difficult to see how North Shorians will benefit from this latest piece of lenacy.
One of my old N Z Railway Observer booklets (about 1960 I recall) has an article on this. At that time the issue was who was going to pay and nothing happened because central govt said they wouldn't contribute. Clearly Auckland City Council couldn't afford it themselves so shelved it.
I suspect nothing has changed except the concept of living within your means has evolved.
