Good!

South Korea will commence whaling.

Anything which gets right up the nose of the loony Greens and UNipoops has to be a good thing.  The manner in which whales are killed appears to me to me no more or less cruel than the manner in which sheep, cattle and pigs are slaughtered.

Adolf has always considered the anti-whaling lobby to be over the top and extremist.  Just like the dopy over the top anti-nuclear lobby.  Funny how New Zealand seems to harbour so many of these creatures.  Today, South Korea harpooned a few of them.

New Zealand should follow suit.  Whale meat is an enormous source of cheap and high quality protein.  The meat can be used to feed our prison population, most of whom have been raised on a diet of greazy fat saturated meat of indeterminate origin.  (Stolen from the freezing works)

Got him! Fair in the guts.

Yes, your Black Arsed JackAss enjoyed a huge boost from the SCOTUS decision. Lasted all of two days.

Love it, good one Adolf !

Oh I do love the smell of burning socialist trolls in the morning.

Especially the ones who, when visiting, are too dumb to abide by a few simple rules of civility.

Not so, unless slaughterhouses have taken to killing sheep etc by firing explosive ammunition at them and then dragging them to slaughterhouse using a cable attached to their insides by barbs. But even skipping over that part, we can safely assume that in the unlikely event that sheep, cattle and pigs become endangered species, people who aren't scum will want to prevent people who are scum from continuing to slaughter and eat them.

Where do you get the idea that whale meat is cheap? Whaling's uneconomic in Japan, and survives thanks to government subsidies. Pulses would be a cheaper source of protein if you want to torture prisoners. Sure that doesn't require the painful and expensive slaughter of endangered species, but you can't have everything right?

I thought whaling was uneconomic and stupid for that reason alone. Maybe not?

Can we have a show of hands from the greenies and their ilk as to which of them throw up their hands in horror at killing a whale while endorsing abortion. The methods of the latter, leaving aside the fact that we are talking about people, seem little kinder than the methods of killing a whale.

I guess I come into that category, although "endorsing" is the wrong word. As to the logical consistency of those views, I can categorically assure you that should humans become an endangered species at some point, I would totally be against killing them for food.

I'm with the Greenies here, its a barbaric treatment of highly intelligent mammals..The meat also contains such high levels of mercury that it is probably dangerous to health.

Most people with knowledge of producing quality meat understand a quick death prevents adrenaline and stress toxins being created in the muscle tissue and hence a superior product.
A lowly carrot however is ripped from the ground while living, shaken to remove any bits of mother earth still adhering, plunged into cold water then left to die slowly often in a plastic bag.
Why don't the tree huggers make a stand for the poor bloody carrots of the world.
Sheesh I don't even stun my blimmin whitebait if they survive the trip in the bucket I just freeze them to death. Did dispatch my recent crayfish by a knife through their brains, before the boiling seawater however.

Where have you blubber lubbers been?

Whale are no more endangered species these days than are socialists.

One or two species may have been fifty years ago but that was then.

Adolf's an expert in marine biology and ocean ecosystems. Remind us of your qualifications in that area again, Adolf.

It must reeeeeeally give you the shits to know that you're argument doesn't hold water.

Kindly produce some reliable evidence (with emphasis on 'relaible' i.e. nothing from Greenpeace of WWF)to support your argument that whales are endangered.

Anonymous said...

You're the one who claimed they weren't endangered. Please provide some reliable proof (note reliable so not from the Japanese Institute of Cetacean Research) to support your assertion.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

No no no. We don't play your little games here. In fact, it was earlier commenters who used the word 'endangered.'

So you fuck off and do your own fucking homework.

You said it buddy. Thanks for the admission you don't know what you're talking about.

Latest IWC population estimates are from 2010, but they show that most whale species have populations in the tens of thousands at most. There are only a couple of species that have made it back into the hundreds of thousands.

Re those species in the hundreds of thousands, a question: has their population size now in the hundreds of thousands rather than 0 thanks to the proven reliability of Asian fishing companies at managing seafood stocks, or thanks to "loony greens?" It's not a trick question, take your time.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Actually Milt, it IS a trick question.

The question you should be asking is:-

At what population level can whales be harvested without threatening the existence of the species?

Now there's a question to turn the most ardent blubber lubber green around the gills.

Anonymous said...

Why? Tastes like crap, is expensive and full of mercury and heavy metals. You should eat heaps of it, Adolf. Please.

Psycho Milt said...

Having had to fight the scum with the harpoons tooth and nail to stop them hunting whales to extinction, the non-scum lack interest in letting the harpooners loose on whales again, for fairly obvious reasons. Your question would be of interest if there was some basis on which to place even a minimal level of trust in the scum with the harpoons, but there isn't, so it's a question of academic, theoretical interest only.

Meat from animals that are farmed and kill humanely, no problem.

Meat from animals hunted, in a manner that requires skill and persistence from the hunter, go right ahead.

Meat from animals not farmed but killed slowly by firing explosive projectiles and waiting until the bleed to death, particularly with animals we know are fairly intelligent is both inhuman and senseless.

If they want to eat whale meat, just buy the huge oversupply from Japan - only about 20% of the whale meat caught by the Japanese fleet is sold - the Japanese have given up on it, mabye they don't like the mercury content, maybe it's the taste/fattiness, maybe its the conservation aspects, maybe they've been indoctrinated to want the western diet of cow meat instead, and/or other factors. Whatever the case the Japanese are no longer eating it. It is now a case of the Japanese Government thinking the have to continue or they will lose face (the conservationists have 'won') where the reality is plain old economics was the cause - too costly to obtain, too little market for sale.

What a jolly thread. Well done, Adolf. Is now the time to mention using penguins for fuel? Their high fat content means they burn quite hot and were perfect for fuelling the fires used to rend blubber.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Michelle

Do you think they will do better in two stroke or four stroke engines?

I can just see the demise of Evinrude, downed by the mighty PENGUIN

Barnsley Bill said...

Adolf, have you had a mild stroke?

Anyway. As usual. I will wade in and provide a solution.
Clearly times are tough in South Korea if they are considering eating Whales.
I suggest that we help the SPCA immediately begin an export drive to Korea. They love dogs, we love dogs. The fact that they love to eat dogs and we love to abandon dogs creates a perfect opportunity for the country to make some money.
Problem solved. No need to eat Whales when you can have our unwanted fidos.
Everybody happy now. Next problem?

gravedodger said...

That is clearly sensible use of a resource Bill but if we are going to dig a hole and bury dead whales as a sensible solution to groundings goodluck with the canned canine venture.

Adolf, I'm not actually familiar with the industrial uses of penguin oil. A guy named Hatch was very busy at the turn of the 20th century on Macquarie island. 1 penguin = 1/2 litre of oil.
