14 yo girl found love? Of course she did.

Almost a decade ago, a fourteen year old daughter of a South African immigrant family formed a sexual relationship with a 20 something male.

A  counselor informed the girl she was fortunate to have found love.

The relationship was extended to a threesome when a male work mate of the new found love joined in.

The story was lead on the 'walrus show' last night and the more revelations that appear, the more disturbing the sordid tale becomes.

Leighton Smith ran with it this morning, including a call in from the girls father who has shifted his business to the UK to escape the appalling lines run by officials of our much vaunted child protection services and the powerlessness endured by such parents.  Several callers related cases where (a) CYFS had removed a child from school with no reference to a parent who only discovered the fact when the child failed to come home; (b) other children "at risk" were left in the care of the supposedly deficient parent and the "kidnapped" child was returned days later with no apology, comment or recorded outcome.

This whole matter on TV1 last night at no time resulted in any criminal charges for the men allegedly involved in sexual activity with the underage girl.

The parents who were trying to do the best for their child found no solace or support from the child welfare and protection system authorities have us believe they promote.  Instead, there is just chaos.
The law actually worked against these parents in that they were restrained and gagged by the lawyers acting for the girl and her advisors - paid for by tax payers. Decisions that were ruled out some years later by the court, albeit far too late.

The media often give publicity around activities in this area of the law but so much of the workings and decisions are closed to public scrutiny leading to a belief these revelations and other matters exposed on TV1 and Leighton's show are, in a word, shocking.

As one who firmly believes parental responsibility should be the expected norm when kids go bad, this rubbish behavior from those employed to work in the field, is in fact undermining parents.

That raises extreme disquiet.

Not a clue about how and why prosecutions take place. The police cant and wont prosecute until the victim complains. An evidential interview must obtain a complaint from the victim and just because the parents think that a child is a chattel doesn't mean that they can lay a complaint on the child behalf.

Or to rephrase it for the many of our readers who aren't child molesters, "just because the parents are angry their child has fallen victim to adult sex offenders doesn't mean the Police will act like the age of consent means anything."

Jeez PMilt, there was no prosecution. But because the parents say there was something going on that they disapproved of you're convinced that an offence was committed?.

Well, society's seen fit (with good reason) to make it illegal for adults to fuck children, which is what's happened in this case. It could be that the cops investigating this have adopted the same "old enough to bleed, old enough to butcher" line as the supposed "counsellor," but that doesn't mean no offence was committed.

If you think it's fine for adults to fuck children as long as the child consents, that makes you and Graeme Capill - any others out there?

Socialists have been undermining parental authority for years - this is a consequence of that.

I have to restrain myself but the Government has got far too big for its boots and we rely to much on "experts" who have their own agendas which is not our or our children's well being.

There is a place for violence in human discourse despite what you have been told

Of course, you're right PM. Why bother with process, evidential's and investigations by serious abuse teams when all that needs to be done is to appoint experts like dad and yourself.

I believe that Police can prosecute in cases of spousal abuse without the consent of the victim. So why do they have to have the victim's support in a case where it is agreed that underage sex took place (20 yo vs. 14 yo). Many questions for our police to answer to here.

Marc is correct, and first anon is totally wrong. A criminal indictment (or an arrest) does NOT require a complaint or an informant. Consent of an underage victim (<16) is specifically NOT a defence in a sex case, read the Crimes Act.

Serious questions here for the Police and Crown law, I believe on the face of it there was definitely enough prima facie evidence for a prosecution, so they didn't proceed on "not in the public interest" grounds? particularly in light of Crimes Act cl.131B Sexual grooming. Also questions for CYPS as to why on earth an earth a government department is condoning, aiding and abetting criminal offending WTF?

See comment above by different Anonymous at 11.40pm. Also, how much of an expert do you have to be to know an offence has been committed in this case? No-one involved seems to be disputing that at least one adult was fucking this child, which is a criminal offence.

If the "something going on" was sex with a minor below the age of consent then YES, an offencewas committed; and, parents are responsible for their children unless someone else has been appointed 'in locus parentis", the parents have the right to complain to the police and expect an investigation to take place. If that is not the way society wants to operate, then maybe we change the age of majority to the start of the teen-years (13 if that's too difficult to work out,) and allow 13 year olds to decide everything about what they do and where and how they do it.
To suggest this girl, who is viewed as too young to vote, drink alcohol or buy cigarettes is capable of making a sensible decision regarding participation in sex, including menage-a-trois, is as rediculous as saying she should have the right to purchase and weild a gun!

It was carnal knowledge. Does that crime not exist on the books any more?

Amazing. Some people really think its OK for a 14 year old to be molested by an adult and as long as the victim doesn't complain its all OK and the police can't touch the perpetrator.

When I speed there's absolutely no victim yet it doesn't stop the fuzz lecturing me about how dangerous I am and that the hammers of hell will fall on all mankind if I keep doing it.

Chuck Missler, whose theology I think is pretty dodgy, is right about one thing. If God doesn't intefere because of our bad behaviour soon He'll have to apologise to Sodom and Gomorragh.

The difficulty for the Police is that the child won't give evidence and the moment they go to interview the offenders they have to tell them not to say anything and get a solicitor (as in Kahui).
Andrei is right this farcical situation arose through Clark's destruction of the family agenda and acts such as Palmers Civil Rights Act..The State and it's agencies have usurped the rights of parents who no longer have any in respect to their children..National has done nothing to restore normality.
