Auckland - a city of "can'ts".

Want to have a cigarette in an Auckland park?  Can't.

Want to walk your dog on the beach in Summer on a leash?  Can't.

Want to buy a house, demolish it and build a modern house?  Can't.

Want to buy some commercial property and build a fancy new building?  Looks like you can't.

Want to ride your bike without a helmet along Tamaki Drive?  Can't.

Want to subdivide your land outside the Rural Urban Boundary and sell some sections to some first-home buyers?  Can't.

Auckland - a city of Can'ts.

This occurs because of the Lefty Socialist Council Clowns under the leadership of the biggest clown Len Brown, wanting to control every aspect of the Auckland Citizens lives. Auckland has no future until these idiots are despatched from the halls of power and a Council that has the interests of the people as a whole is voted in. Until that occurs Auckland will continue to go backwards and will remain a city of "cants".

What absolute bollocks Allan. With the exception of the first item (which btw was a suggestion by health people, NOT the council) the can'ts mentioned have been in place for a number of years. There has been plenty of time for the likes of John Banks to have changed things.

Many of us quite like the fact that you can't do many of the things mentioned.

With respect to the Chow brothers, if they had been a bit more careful with their renovation it wouldn't be an issue.

Want to have a cigarette in an Auckland park? - Why should the smokers inflict their smoke on others enjoying the outdoors
Want to walk your dog on the beach in Summer on a leash? – We don’t want our beaches littered with dog turds

Want to buy a house, demolish it and build a modern house? You can if it fits in with the District Plan. If that is what you want to do, buy a section or a house in an area that doesn’t value the heritage of the city.

Want to buy some commercial property and build a fancy new building? You can if it meets the criteria of the District Plan. If it doesn’t you can still apply for dispensation .

Want to ride your bike without a helmet along the footpath on Tamaki Drive? Ok – this one is a bit silly.
Want to subdivide your land outside the Rural Urban Boundary and sell some sections to some first-home buyers? If all our productive land is used for housing what will we sell to the Chinese?
