There Goes Another Bunch of Votes

I can't think of many things more likely to alienate undecided voters than last night's effort by Labour and it's union stooges to deface over 700 National party billboards up and down New Zealand. An interesting operation, impressive for its organisation and cringe inducing for its electoral stupidity.

Of course I can't prove beyond doubt that Labour and the unions did the job but I'll be very surprised if this is not found to be the case. This operation was expensive and well beyond the capacity of the Country Women's Institute. Labour will have provided the idea with some foot soldiers and the unions will have looked after logistics - printing, transport, finance etc.

I sincerely hope the Gnats ask the police to investigate. Of course you would not expect Labour to include the expenses of this effort in its electoral returns so I hope the Commission asks them for detail.

What are the penalties for this co-ordinated vandalism? Are there any penalties?

Unless the graffiti has a promoter statement of authorization and address it will be a breach of the electoral law - hopefully the perps put promoter statements and authorizations on their stickers! That'll make the cops job easier.

Who cares? I've always wanted to deface these hoarding eyesores with wit(but haven't because I can't do it in an economic manner that avoids damage).

Unlike Labour, they've done the decent thing. Apologised and offered to make amends.

Withdrawing from the election?
Norman needs to resign if it is found the greens paid/ we paid for these stickers.
It is ludicrous to believe that Norman did not know.

How kevin? I know; they could set up a media stunt in a cafe involving their leader and a racist psycho candidate from another party, and then squeal hysterically like stuck piggies when people want to find out what they talked about! That would be really foolish wouldn't it?

anon 8.49. An expected rabid response... However (more than) 50% of NZer's would agree with me and only 28%ish with you.

will be interesting to see if this action by the greens gains as much traction in the MSM as the shock and horror events of a private organisation advertising against the greens in the 05 election... will they go on an on and on about it? and will Hager write a book about the hollow bearded fools?
