Retaliatory Amish Raids Not Expected

hattip Andrew Bolt

I must say I was surprised at the speed with which the world's Antique Media fell over themselves to shout out that the Norwgian madman killer is a Christian. Somehow their previous sensitivity about the religious convictions, political proclivities or nationalities of Terrorists seem to have abated - suddenly.

Here's the ever reliable and unbiased ABC.
Norway attacks suspect admits responsibility
Updated July 24, 2011 09:13:55
....Police say they are questioning the right-wing Christian over the massacre - a killing spree that Norway’s prime minister Jens Stoltenburg said had turned an island paradise into “hell on Earth"…

......The suspect in twin attacks in and near Oslo that killed at least 92 people, Anders Behring Breivik, has admitted responsibility, his lawyer said......

Key details:

§ 92 dead, may rise to 98

§ Ring-wing Christian extremist charged

§ His farm searched for explosives

§ Possibility of a second gunman ..........

.......Police spokesman Roger Andersen described the suspect as a ”Christian fundamentalist”, adding that his political opinions leaned ”to the right”.

But don't worry. They won't do it the next time a crazed murderer shouts 'Allahu Akbar' as he machine guns a few dozen people in a down town Sydney or Auckland street market.

Yeah I think you will find that they WILL report that. I also don't think that the fact he was a Don Brash style nutter should have gone first, but if it is a terrorist style attack and they have extreme views, you can count on the media reporting that upfront, whatever the flavour of their views.

DT, you seem to be in another world.

For a start, Dr brash is NOT a fundamentalist Christian. His father was an eminent Presbyterian minister he Dr Brash , I think you'll find, does not hold to the Christian faith, let alone any fundamentalist version of it.

You appear oblivious to the habit of police and media across the western world to refrain from printing anything about any terrorist which might connect him with the Muslin faith in its extremist form. Even the US Army had to be dragged by blogs to admit that its very own Major Nidal shouted 'Allahu Akbar' as he gunned down his own colleagues.

I notice the dickheads at The Stranded are only feeling sad about the Norwegian Labour party members that were murdered. What fucken arseholes.

What a ridiculous beat up Adolf.
Too much Bolt is turning your critical faculties to mush.

Bolt's initial reaction

"Once the identity of the attackers becomes known, the consequences for Norway’s immigration policies could be profound"

What an appaling piece of work Bolt is. A tragedy such as this and his only response,is to turn it into a talking point to support his pre-concieved views and push his tediously predictable ideological barrow.turning them into talking points

You mean, he's thinking they'll decide they need more immigrants because these Norwegian mofos are just too dangerous to have around? Oh...

the world's Antique Media fell over themselves to shout out that the Norwgian madman killer is a Christian.

Yeah, it must really burn Christians up that they're all getting tarred in the media with this murderer's brush. Ringing any bells yet?

The Left will go all out to promote religious freedoms, rights, etc EXCEPT for Christianity because in leftist la la land attacking Christianity is the main sport of their Wacko Olympics.

If you are a reporter, scoring a hit on Christians' gets high fives all around the office and down the inner city road.

Prior to it being discovered he was Christian the media were reporting it was an Islamic attack in every article so I suspect it is for balance.

At the end of the day this could all be solved by simply reporting facts and if you don't know, don't make stuff up.

If he's Christian he's found a new hymn book to sing from.

At least Christians are accorded the courtesy of being separated from their nutter with the tag "right wing". If it had been a Muslim nutter, he would have been portrayed as being more or less typical of them all, which I know to be profoundly untrue.

In any event, as an atheist, my tolerance for any religion is diminished with every act of this ilk, and they are many and legion.

The only bell I hear is if a muslim did it he would be obeying his creed. If this man was a christian and not merely a deranged white murderer, he would be disobeying his creed entirely.

Christianity has carried out acts of extreme violence for centuries. It’s fatuous to claim that Norway’s nutter is acting against his “creed”. Have you heard of the Crusades, the witch hunts, Bloody Mary, Tomás de Torquemada, Elizabeth I, Christianity as a justification for slavery and apartheid – the list can go on ad nauseam.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Lambcut, have you got anything on your list later than the Dark Ages?

How pathetic.

Perhaps you can tell us the last time a Presbyterian went to town wearing a ball bearing vest lined with Semtex?

... or which part of the New Testament he relied on to justify it.

"Gott mit uns"

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Anon 11.51

'Gott mitt uns' was around and being used by the Romans 500 years before the birth of Christ. Later it was used extensively by German armed forces from the 17th century through to the Second World War.

It is hardly a Christian slogan, by any stretch.

He was a rightwinger, you know the type,a national/act supporter.Posts on whaleoil, here, and kiwiblog calling the unrich(poor) scum and should be exterminated. This nut hated muslims so wanted to teach labour a lesson for letting them in,so he shot their kids as a rightwinger nationalist sometimes does.So the rightist, this is your man. He did what you lot think, only he did it.

"He did what you lot think, only he did it."

Bollocks. The world is full of nutters and every now and then an especially loopy one comes along and kills a few people (eg: Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot). It does show what happens when the only guy with a gun is a fruit.

Our extremist ragheads were falling over each other claiming the credit. This nutter right winger was far more efficient ,than any mulim nutter in killing but then he was a right winger, achristian, gaming, freemason, who grew veges, had a farm, had a degree, and hated the muslim invasion of his homeland

Adolf - apartheid is a phenomenon of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Lambcut, take your head out of your Koran for a moment and go read the Old Testament.

It is replete with examples of what today would be described by liberals as 'ethnic cleansing' or 'apartheid.'

Lambcut said...

Adolf! You are being willfully blind. My point is that apartheid (and other abominations) are still practiced and religion is still referenced as an excuse for them. I note they are still having a bit of trouble in Ireland at the moment too. The Broderbond are still active in SA and the KKK are still active in the USA. Gay bashings are ubiquitous throughout the bible belt. You cannot reasonably claim that the Abrahamic religions are not violent, now or at any time throughout their histories. For clarity's sake I mean all of them, Judaism and both its bastard children Christianity and Islam.

Lambcut said...

Atheists also are not immune to problems from their religious brethren. This is an account of Christopher Hitchens being questioned by an evangelist on the issue of violence:

"If you were in a strange city one evening and saw a few men coming toward you, would you feel more or less safe knowing they just came from a prayer meeting? The answer the evangelist expects is an unqualified “yes,” but Hitchens answers this as if it was not hypothetical and turns the tables on Prager’s challenge: “Just to stay within the letter ‘B,’ I have actually had that experience in Belfast, Beirut, Bombay, Belgrade, Bethlehem, and Baghdad".

Apparently it was true, Hitchens has been accosted by religious loonies in all of those places.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Lambcut, about the only thing which is accurate in your last comment is the sad fact that religion is used as an excuse. The fundamental hatreds often go much deeper.

For example, it is difficult to ascribe to religion the worldwide scourge of antisemitism which is practiced by many Muslims, Protestants, Catholics, Labour voters and untold atheistic Nazis, Maoists, Stalinists, New Zealandeers, Australians, Ayrabs, French, British and Americans.

Lambcut said...

Arabs are a semitic people, my learned friend.

But I rest my case with regard to the inherent violence of religion.

Rabbi, David Bisman and I are planning a joint post over on Roarprawn soon on some of these issues. Clearly, we both have a different take (he is a Zionist), but we are both sick of the ignorance of the argument that goes around the NZ bloggosphere. Will keep you in touch, if you like.
