Maybe If They Just Reported.......

.....the news instead of trying to make it up, they might get their readers and their profits back.

Fairfax seems to be waking up at last to the lessons learned by the New York Times and the Washington Post. If you alienate fifty percent of your readership by pushing partisan political propaganda, you have to do two hundred percent more work to make the same dollar of profit.

I can't recall where I read recently that the WAPO appears to be retreating from it previously anti-conservative stance, to the degree of giving tacit support to most of Dubbya's policies, all of which have been adopted by the BAJA in the White House.

The "streamlined production processes" in the company's Australian and New Zealand publishing, printing and distribution businesses were aimed at reducing costs and "allowing reinvestment in quality journalism", the company said at the time.
