Respect is a two way street.

Having watched with increasing fury and dismay as our Police force has been transformed into a uniformed branch of the inland revenue and wimpy do-nothings when dealing with trespass is it any wonder that we are seeing more and more disrespect shown to our police.

I would be more than happy to see traffic split out from proper coppers. A great leap backwards? Or a way to restore public confidence and respect?

every time there is an occupation the cops turn their heads and cough

I don't think the arseholes who go around biting the lips off cops really have in the back of their mind when applying the sweet chilli sauce, salt and pepper, the fact they got pinged for doing 55 down a hill two months prior.

Somehow, I don't think that's a cause BB.

Ah so its those damn murry again eh! and those revenue gathering pigs making good honest white people obey basic road laws which really should only apply to murry's driving those awful unwarranted cars in places like Kaikohe.

Which occupation has got you so bugged? hope this isn't going to be a major backfire like when you complained about the fireman getting charged lol.

Barnsley should be able to drive as fast as he likes. The fact that there are six times as many road deaths as murders is beside the point. It's called freedom people!

You clowns miss the point as usual. Although I must say we seem to be getting a respite from ridiculous blanket roadblocks in the bay since November.
Have not had a speeding ticket in over 10 years..
Gooner, I agree re your comments about the lip biter. There will always be an element that will never behave like humans. But how anybody can deny we have seen slippage in the level of respect since MOT and the cops were merged is ridiculous.

Respect is earned BB, no matter whether it's the cops or schoolteachers. As with most things it starts in the home.

I don't think the merging of the MOt and Police is really relevant. MOT officers were attacked when they were separate, and Police have been attacked since year dot. This is a blip, made worse by a salivating MSM and knee-jerk politicians.

Meh. Like begets like. The munters are breeding like rabbits while people with two brain cells to rub together have one or two children. Sooner or later the effects start to become obvious. I think that has way more to do with it than the coppers being seconded to revenue-raising duties, myself.

On the other hand, encountering cops only when they're stopping you going about your lawful business so they can make you blow in a breatheliser, or so they can bill you for trivial speeding offences to meet their quota, doesn't give you a warm glow of respect for them. Crusher could certainly start there.

We've also seen the emergence of e-mail and very small cell phones which play music since MOT and Police were merged. The merger must have caused that too!! Amazing!

Oh and the road toll has halved also (possibly saving your life Barnsley). But murders have remained roughly the same. Interesting.

The practice of snitching to people's employers has done much to discredit police in the eye of the public. Just a bunch of nasty snitches who think everybody's business is their business.

Judge Holden displays his extraordinary analytical skills by citing the number of murders in a post about attacks on police officers.

He should find a safe Labour seat, stand for Parliament and help cement National's next landslide.

A little too subtle for you Adolt? Jeez, it's not complex. Barnsley thinks that there's a relationship between the merger and... oh never mind chief. Have a pint of sherry and a lie and then get back to telling us how beautiful John Key is.

A fact that has everything to do with car manufacturers and road builders, and nothing to do with cops giving out tickets.

The practice of snitching to people's employers has done much to discredit police in the eye of the public.

Shit yes. I couldn't believe that story - what are the cops thinking? I worked on passenger checkin in Europe a while back and the people coming in to start work at 4am (including me) had often been pissing up the night before. Still being over the limit was a distinct possibility. It's called having a life and living it. The cops should stick to doing their job, which involves enforcing the law, not making trouble for people with their employers.

So now road deaths are under control, lets get on with lowering murders, I agree with what you saying, yes.

Stop bothering nice tax payers and chase after the real criminals for a change.
