In a report on the Ratana conference currently underway PM John Key is shown to have received an extremely positive reception, such as would have been impossible just five years ago.
Adolf's earlier prescience in these things is borne out by the remarks of one church member during the welcome:-
Joe Everett, a morehu (Ratana follower), noted the long connections the Church has with Labour but then said that since becoming Prime Minister, John Key had abided by his promises to the Maori people.
"In the short time you have been in power, you have done so much more than others have done for the Maori people."
The overt praise and implicit criticism of the previous Labour government made it clear the Church followers at least are openly reconsidering their alliance with Labour.
There, for all to see, is laid bare Helen Clark's greatest folly. She drove Maoridom into the arms of National and National is going to love Maoridom to death for herein lies the destruction of Labour.
Much credit for this fortunate state of affairs needs to be given to ACT's Rodney Hide. He was one of the first conservative MPs to develop a close and cordial relationship with Tariana Turia during the occupation of Treasury benches by the Clark Cullen led Nazis.
You know, I almost feel as though I wrote the script.
