Boys will be boys

From the boys will be boys file:
The young boy who was thought to have flown out of his family's back garden in a homemade helium balloon has been found alive.

Six-year-old Falcon Heene was found hiding in a cardboard box in the attic above the garage at his family's Fort Collins, Colorado home.

"He's been there the whole time," said a sheriff's department official.
Check out the balloon/plane - cool.

I wondered if the flying saucer balloon project was really big enough to carry a six-year-old, so I did a little math.

I just compared it with the met balloons I used to send up (filled with HYDROGEN) and it is nowhere near large enough.

Used to use a ballon inflated to about 1.8m to lift a 1kg sonde to those sort of altitudes.

The family seems to have a penchant for making it onto TV.

Anyone want to argue that it wasn't a put up job?

I am glad the boy is O.K. but I hope it was not a publicity stunt.
