Qarooked Qarase Exposed

It was Adolf who slipped to Whaleoil the remarkable account of Fijian corruption, murder, bribery, prostitution, vote rigging and blackmail orchestrated by deposed PM Qarase and his cronies. A story which could have come straight out of the New York Mafia of the thirties. It's a one meg pdf.

(Detractors will point to the checkered history of the author who is a wealthy crook himself. They need to be reminded that it needs a crook to blow the whistle on other crooks. Such is the history of the US Mafia and its dismembering at the hands of the authorities.)

Whaleoil has produced an excellent summary of a document which makes for riveting reading - all two hours of it.

Of particular interest is the way in which the corrupt administration:-

  • put up the dim witted Qarase as a front man while the clever, scheming murderous Navi Naisori called the shots in the background.
  • bought off the Methodist Church which then, to its eternal shame, directed its illiterate members from the pulpit to vote for Qarase's party;
  • bought off the votes of semi educated Fijians by delivering to their villages hundreds of tractors and outboard motors on condition the villagers were instructed to vote for Qarase's party;
  • corrupted the police force to the degree that police officers removed the seals from ballot boxes in ten marginal seats and stuffed them with bogus votes for Qarase's party;
  • Lined their own pockets with millions of dollars, squirrelled away in Australia,New Zealand and Pakistan. Adolf calculates that when all the corruption in 2006 is added up, it is likely these guys skimmed close to 10% of GDP. A massive $160 million.

Helen Clark and Winston Peters assisted the criminals by sending their biggest drongo, Booboo Hobbs, up there to loudly declare the election fair and above board.

For the first time, one can see the insidious influence of Australia at work. Backing up and covertly assisting a corrupt regime because it 'was easily controlled and would do Australia's bidding.' Interestingly, there was no mention of any New Zealand involvement in this dirty work.

The most extraordinary revelation of all however, is the casual ease with which murder was planned as a last resort if bribery and blackmail did not bring the right people 'on side.'

This story needs to be publicised loud and clear throughout New Zealand until Messrs Key and McCully realise the futility of their slavish adherence to the failed policy of the Clark/Cullen regime and its blind MFAT bureaucrats.

Commodore Bainimarama needs to tell the world some of the lurid detail of what Qarase and his vassal Council of Chiefs were up to and the world might just start to listen. So far logic has not worked so now perhaps it's time to focus on the salacious sleaze, dirt and dishonesty which was Qarase and his illegal, crooked, unconstitutional and abjectly corrupt SDL government.

Still don't get it do you. Let's put it this way: like Mother like Son! Didn't you read Ian Wishart's remarkable account of New Zealand corruption, murder, bribery, prostitution, vote rigging and blackmail orchestrated by deposed PM Clark and her cronie?. Another story which could have come straight out of the New York Mafia of the thirties?

Of particular interest is the way in which the corrupt Labour administration:-

* put up the Aunty Helen as a front man while the clever, scheming murderous H2 called the shots in the background.
* bought off the Churches which then, to its eternal shame, directed their "liberal" members from the pulpit to vote for the Labour and Green parties;
* bought off the votes of semi educated Kiwis by delivering to their pockets billions of dollars in WFF and benefits on condition the beneficiaries voted for the Labour party;
* corrupted the police force and the civil service to the degree they permitted millions of dollars of taxpayers funding to be used to support Labour, and then did nothing about it;
* lined their own pockets with millions of dollars, squirrelled away in Australia,New Zealand, New York, and Switzerland.
* Lined their pockets with millions of dollars.
Don Brash calculates that when all the corruption in 2000-2008 is added up, these guys definitely squirreled away more than 10% of GDP on civil service pay, union hiring bonuses, and benefits - all targeted to their voters.

Think it's bad in Fiji. The fact is: it was worse here?

What's the common denominator? Labour.

What!? A govt spending taxpayers' money on the public service and social welfare? The horror! How could such unprecedented and totally shocking mendacity have gone unnoticed by the international community?

Stay on topic. NZ was trying very hard to restore "Qarase and his cronies" back into power and then suggesting Democracy could be fixed up after that point.

Anyone with a passing understand of politics in Fiji knew that to be a crock. This is why Frank needed support, not condemnation.

A bit of genuine help from Australia and NZ could have moved things along nicely. Instead, obstruction all the way. At the risk of going off topic again, we know why. It's unfortunate the public at large do not.

A bit of genuine help from NZ and Aus could also have landed us hip-deep in Fiji's pointless ethnic disputes for the sake of supporting a military dictator. It seems clear enough why the respective govts (including our current National govt) didn't want a bar of it.

I am a supporter of the commodore and the more evidence that comes to light the more concerned I become at the level of competence of the idiots at MFaT . The pollies have the half arsed excuse of following the politically correct line and their incompetence but are not the dopey seat warmers supposed to be educated and have analytical minds. I am not a PhD but pulease what will it take before our leadership will accept that the commodore might be worthy of at least some support.

In his interview with Maori TV screened last night the Commodore opened the door to a face saving reopening of civilised conversation between the two countries by inviting NZ to re-establish our High Commission in Suva.

Let's see whether Messrs McCully and Key have enough brains to take up the invitation.

Umm - it didn't? Read any OECD, CIS etc report on the NZ economy and it is layed out fair and square.

There are risks to everything. Working towards democracy in a constructive way might be considered worth it, as we get to determine the nature and level of help and when it gets cut off. Instead, obstruction all the way.

for the sake of supporting a military dictator.

For the sake of moving Fiji back to democracy as speedily as possible rather than handing the keys back to Qarase.
