ON TOLERANCE

Tolerance is a virtue and I hope that as I have grown older I have become more tolerant from the time when I was attending the RNZAF Command & Staff College where my opinions had me labelled as being to the right of Genghis Khan.

But why should I be tolerant of parents who shun parental responsibility?

And why should I be tolerant of those who blame criminal behaviour on their upbringing?

Why should I be tolerant of immigrants who do not want to assimilate into mainstream New Zealand society?

Why should I tolerate a tax system open to rorting?

Why should I be tolerant of a sub-standard education system designed to legitimise failure?

Why should I tolerate those who think that Government knows best?

Why should I be tolerant of those who think socialism is the answer?

Why should I be tolerant of beneficiaries who abuse the system?

Why should I be tolerant of the so called financial whiz kids whose mismanagement cost ordinary Kiwis hundreds of millions of dollars?

Why should I be tolerant of a society that makes ordinary law abiding persons who pay their taxes and sacrifice much to give their children the best start possible in life feel like an endangered species?

Tolerant yes, but tolerance has its limits.

Why should you pay tax to an incontinent system?

Because the intolerant 'progressives' depend upon your tolerance so they can work their dismal, futureless spite upon society.

OTY me old vet!

As an immigrant, I think that I have assimilated into mainstream NZ, reasonably well, but would you be able to tolerate me Veteran if you find out that I regularly kill some dogs (of course my own) and cook them on a hangi or perhaps BBQ ? If not, then why not?

'Tolerance' is too often code fr spinelessness. There are lots of things no decent person should tolerate.

Falafulu fisi suggests he kill & cook his own dogs. If he did, I would reserve my right to hate him for it, and continue hating him and his kind. Isn't multiculturalism a wonderful thing?

The flaw in Falafisu Fisi's ploy is this: he migrated TO New Zealand because it is a Better Place To Live - and it's Better Place To Live because we DON'T do the things elsewhere that make them worse places to live.

In other words, FF, if you want to cook dogs, go back to where they do that.

Things like that are also the reason we DON'T migrate there. Simple, really - if you think about it.

Sadly, Fisi, getting taken away by the cops for preparing such unassimilated stunts is part of the enriching cultural experiences of NZ.

Best you stick with That old Pacific favorite --the big flat tins of cholesterol close-out known as Hellapees CornBiff.

Doctors won't stuff your life up like our bewildered judiciary.

Not that I believe eating dogs is okay, but how is an immigrant in New Zealand that eats a dog any different from most other people in New Zealand who eat other animals?

What are the rules in determining which animals are right to eat and which are wrong to eat?

There is a rapidly growing band of National Party people who are preparing to sample roasted Whale meat.

FFS, Max, re-read my earlier comment, in which I explained why the animals we choose to eat are integral with reasons that make us a Better Place to migrate to. Sigh.

Wake Up, I did read that post but it wasn't an answer to my question. I think you missed my point.

How is New Zealand made a better place to live by the animals that people choose to eat? How does eating pigs, but not dogs make this a better place? Why is it so wrong to eat a dog, but not other animals?

If you eat animals, how are you any different to someone who eats a dog? Who are you to judge?

So repeating my question: What are the rules in determining which animals are right to eat and which are wrong to eat?
