MPs expenses: What are they hiding?

Apparantly, they are under too much scrutiny and releasing such material would damage their privacy.
What hogwash!
MPs are our employees. We the people employ them and we should have the right to see how they spend our money.
Now, I recall David Farrar at Kiwiblog has said our expenses system is much less generous than that of Britain, so we should be spared the abuses MPs have been making over there.
I quite agree that our MPs are comnparatively better behaved, even if some interesting but legal abuses were also uncovered in Australia this week.
But it does beg the question, what are they hiding.
Surely the taxpayer has a right to know?

FFM, you might have done better if before you huffed and puffed you had detailed what the particular scrutiny is to which Dr Lockwood-Smith referred. It is quite possible he is absolutely right.

No you don't fucking get it adolf.

the Labour speaker in the UK covered up Labour's rorts -getting their "moats cleaned" (literally!) and buying 15,000 "Duck Islands" - so much for the people's party..

The UK speaker was just fired, cameron is calling for immediate elections and 70% of the UK public agree with him: and labour will be in fourth of fifth place in the local council elections
Yes that's right, the BNP is polling higher than labour in their heartlands - and UKIP, LibDems and Tories are all clearly ahead of Labour

Smith gets it wrong. All expesnes - especially of Labour politicians - must be released immediately, to the public and to the police for rapid prosecution. We know labour and the unions rorted elections since 1999: now is the time they must be made to pay!

Anon - how about one rule for all?

Why should it only be the Labour pollies expenses that should be released?

In the UK both major parties have been shown to be as back as each other - in fact, the moat cleaning was for a Tory.

Rules and rights are priviledges earned by those who are independent human beings. That - by definition - rules our leftists, labourists, and unionists.

Why should it only be the Labour pollies expenses that should be released?

Because they are the ones who are corrupt

Yeah right -which is why the Tories are down 2% and are still the top party, while Labour is comming after the Tories, LibDems, UKIP, Greens, - and possibly the BNP.
