Shifty Blinked First

Update II: It just got a whole lot worse. Now the Cancerous Cow is going to entrench free redundancy insurance for every no-hoper who gets made redundant during times of prosperity and plentiful jobs.

It is to be A PERMANENT FEATURE of the social welfare landscape. No longer is this a special emergency measure to avoid catastrophic adverse knock on effects from mass redundancy during Cullen's self inflicted recession. Staggering.

"Helen Clark said the new allowance would become a permanent feature of the social security system under a Labour government."

Update:
Mean - as well as dull, predictable, useless and stupid. If you are a single income family, you will not qualify for Labour's Limited Largesse. Doubly stupid.

John Key is playing Helen Clark on a break.

Today at lunch time, John Key announced that under National's scheme, any grants would not need to be repaid. So, Shifty got all spooked and shot her bolt at 3.00 o'clock.

[767202.jpg]

She announced the details of her 'job search allowance' for redundant workers. Apparently it is a non income or asset tested dole payment for up to three months. How dull. How predictable. How stupid. How useless.

Useless, you say? Yes, pretty useless if you've got three kids, a $400k mortgage and you just lost a $100k job.

Dull and predictable, you ask? Yes, straight out of the standard 'no new ideas' Labour play book.

Stupid? Yes because they'll give my tax dollars to a sixty year old with no mortgage who didn't really need his job but was made redundant anyway.

Adolf looks forward to National's ten times better, innovative and imaginative policy announcement tomorrow.

Could you please stop posting that disgusting image of Clark. I shudder every time I look at it. in fact I think I starting to need counselling.

How many more sleeps.... oh yeah only 9 more. I can do it!

Pretty useless too, if you haven't been in the workforce for at least five year because you don't qualify.

I was wondering if Dear Leaer declared an interest.
She's about to be made redundant pretty much soon- well, fired mor like.
There again, aren't MPs already covered by a generous arrangements of allowances and benefits should they fail to gain re-election.
I wonder what Shifty's pay off will be?

Clark spouting yet another senseless, socialist plan is to be expected. It's all the woman knows. Of much greater concern is the following:

"John Key announced that under National's scheme, any grants would not need to be repaid."

Ahhh .. the sweet sound of blue, er, well, socialism, really!

If he carries on like this, there'll be little real change when the govt changes, except a prettier PM inclined, at least, to a little less social engineering.

Pity. This is his chance to seriously turn the tide & he's choosing to largely swim with it.

Hmmmm fully costed at $50million pa eh?

So what is that?

3850 redundancies in a year at 1000 per week for 13 weeks pretty well cuts it out. That's not a lot of layoffs for the biggest economic shock in the last 50 years I'd say!

Davidw, since when has the unemployment benefit been $1,000 per week?

Good heavens. I would hope this person would have had enough sense to take care of his own business and have mortgage insurance.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

kiwigirl, the majority of mortgage insurance policies do not cover redundancy.

NZ needs to get employment back to more competitive levels, and similarly wage rates to increase productivity.

ACT and the Libz have the only sensible policy: no more dole. for anyone under any circumstances.

Pretty useless if you've got three kids, a $400k mortgage and you just lost a $100k job.

well there is an honorable way out. if more people took it then NZ would be a far more efficient society.

the majority of mortgage insurance policies do not cover redundancy.

Too right. We want a country of workers, not bludgers; of winners, not losers. If you lose your job it's your own fault and responsibility - primarily, your responsibility to ensure neither you nor your family are a burden on anyone else.

So you think that someone on $100k with a $400k mortgage should be bailed out, do you?

Give me a break. What happend to "personal responsibility"? Gives way when political advantage is to be gained, does it?

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Matter of fact Jordan, no. But then, only a leftie nutjob would use the term 'bail out.'

Funny. I thought there was "no money" left last week for any more pre-election bribes - pardon me - promises?

Apparently not.

oops, mike d beat me to it.

What he said.

Should post it in our prison cells. That should neatly deal with the recidivism issue. Safe us a fortune.
