Tauranga MP Bob Clarkson is leaving parliament without giving a valedictory speech.
Instead, he will issue a statement today.
Bob the Builder is one of life's characters, who did cause a little embarassment to the National Party.
However, as Homepaddock notes:
But we owe him our thanks because had he not ousted Winston Peters at the last election, Peters wouldn’t have taken the electoral petition which led to him asking Owen Glenn for a donation which has finally exposed him as a hypocrite and a liar.
And that is one mighty contrubution you have made to New Zealand politics.
We at No Minister say 'thank you Bob,' and wish you all the best for the future.
I am sure other New Zealanders will offer similar thanks, once the importance of your achievements sink in.
UPDATE: John Roughan has a word with National's Tauranga candidate Simon Bridges. Like me, the hot shot part-Maori lawyer is also of good Yorkshire stock too!
