But New Zealand is apparantly one of the least corrupt countries on the planet, along with Denmark and Sweden.
Obviously, we are such a small, small country so far, far away from this Berlin-based body.
They must have fallen for the view we are a rural arcadia, with lambs skipping and frolicking everywhere, and the German authors having too fond a memory of bungy jumping and whitewater rafting on their OE visits here.
They know nothing about Winston Peters, apparantly, nothing on how Liarbour stole Election 2005 with taxpayer money, how Dear Leader has corrupted the police (more of that later), how she seeks to dismantle the Serious Fraud Office, how she is rubbishing those who oppose her poodle, etc, etc.
Transparency International obviously hasn't read Absolute Power. Perhaps Ian Wishart should send them a copy, as his allegations and theories grow more truthful by the day when we see what is happening with Winston.
But look at the Transparency story again. It is about 'perceived' corruption.
And one top rule of politics, is that perceptions count more than reality!
