Playing dirty pays in the polls

Tonight's two polls confirm the swing to Liarbour that Fairfax showed yesterday.
TvOne has it 52-35 to National.
TV3 has it 48-35 to National.
Both showing swings worse than I expected.
TV1 shows National's lead dropping from 27% to 16% and TV3's a smaller drop from 15% to 13%.
It follows Fairfax which yesterday reported the National lead dropping from 24% to 16%.
I guess some 'correction' was inevitable but it does show National has to play its cards well in the months ahead, that it is National's election to lose and that Liarbour will play dirty with bitter , personal attacks.
Chris Trotter's column today shows how he left are full of bile and hatred for the opposition and nothing will stop them from keeping the reins of power, lies, deceit, abuse and bullshit.
The question that remains is, should National stoop down to their level?
Reading John Key's 'biography' yesterday, I think the Nats are made of sterner stuff, have dignity. But will it be enough to save them?

National's "dignity" in the face of personal attacks and slimy politics is now making them look supine and gutless. And it's not helped by their "me-tooism" either.

Yeah, well said, kg. Key should fight fire with fire, does he not realise how desperate and power-mad the Clark regime is?

Dirty with dirty will not work for National.

Key needs to jettison Winston this week and that will transfer NZ First party vote to National. NZ First voters want Winston to form a government with National.

Otherwise, my party vote is going to ACT.

John Key should keep his hands clean.
I am sure there are plenty out there to take up the cudgels on his behalf.
I am sure yourselves and Whale Oil will happily publish anny dirt to defeat old Hell.
Perhaps even the MSM will happily receive brown paper bags containing such evidence.
Fran O'Sullivan admits she has invested certain stories.
Maybe they might have more legs next time.

I agree they should declare that they will not deal with Winston post election, and while he is leader a vote for NZ First is a vote for Liabour. They should then forget Winston and concentrate on Liabour. The Winston corruption is taking the spotlight of Liabour even though they are probably co conspirators under the patronage of Owen Glen. .........Baxter
