From what I can gather from the few comments available, it would seem that those who actually employed her originally satisfied themselves that 'she was well on her way to gaining a Doctorate.' There is no story here. It is a political beat up. A smoke screen to hide Labour's malfeasance from the public.
The dopes in the media are swallowing the diversion, hook line and sinker.
Journalists should be asking:-
Was/is Madam a member of the Labour Party?
How many other dodgy arrivals have been processed?
What money or favours changed hands?
Who benefited?
How much money eventually found its way into Labour Party coffers as a result of thse misdeeds?

The issue they should be chasing is that two Ministers of Immigration knew about the dodgy approvals being issued at this woman's behest and THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT IT FOR OVER A YEAR.
Why is this so?
But for the fact that their very own state owned TV network exposed the rort, they STILL WOULD HAVE DONE NOTHING.

Have you noticed nobody has yet been able to produce a CV in which this lady claims to have a phD? Here's the best they can do. Pathetic.

Though Labour Department boss Christopher Blake has said Thompson did not claim to have a PhD when she applied for the Immigration job, she was referred to in a 2007 publication as Dr Mary Anne Thompson.
